i agree with ubi.....Loc-Tite Red is pretty tenacious stuff!! it holds great for something like this.
the blue Loc-Titehowever, is pretty weak and is good to use on the stripped PAN lug screws and other things that you will want to loosen sometime in the future.
i don't have access to a drill press at this time.....yet....but i'm working on it.
ubi, you make a good point about the location of the holes adjusting the spring bars which would in-turn change the SEL position....my new upgraded bracelet (hollow mids & proper SEL's) sits a tad too high now and the slight relocation would do it good.
Now let me see where I can find a drill press to use.
@ TJGRaider,
i'm glad you asked this question....my TW Classic has the little lug holes and i was wondering the same thing about proper hole size.
my TW Classic has the lug holes close to the lug edge and i need to drill the larger hole biased away from the edge and more towards the lower portion of the lug. i almost need to use a drill press and 'machine' the hole larger so i can get this bias. i don't have access to a small drill press. hmmmmm, i wonder if there is another way to accomplish this?
yeah....you are right, i'm a little disappointed.
when you said it was a factory approved mod, i was thinking that it was something that we would want to do to our omega's.
but, it was a fun exercise!! thanks!!
cheepo - i too thought it was an outstanding comparison. excellent work!
i actually learned a few things from the analysis. it also sparked a few questions. you mentioned that the gen SD bracelet has polished sides.....is this true for the gen Sub bracelet too or are they brushed just like the ones on our reps and the one that is on your SD rep?
alli : what size of crown came on the original 1680? I am getting ready to start my 1680 project and I have a gen triple dot crown that came on a GMT II rep....it is the correct size crown for the GMT II but is incorrect because it has the 3 dots instead of the bar. Is that the correct crown for the 1680? I don't have a pic available yet since I'm at work.
welcome. i started collecting 3 years ago and will tell you that this site is for real.
here are some tips:
1. search the site & read as much as you can on a particular piece that you like
2. PM people and ask questions of the more experienced posters.....they are knowledgeable and are friendly
3. ONLY "TRADE" with the approved dealers....research the dealers and remember that some only deal with people they trust....ask specific questions but do not pester them.
4. when trading.....HAVE PATIENCE!!!! do not panic. the dealers are trust worthy so trade with them and then sit back and relax and wait for the item to arrive.
5. remember that it is a rep.....if you want it to be "perfect"....buy the original item
enjoy the hobby!!!!
well i thought i'd follow proper protocol and post my first post on rwg.cc in the newbie section.
