I'm in for a 201/a matching.

Its a shame that there are not more comments here as for me this is the best thread on the front page of this forum and several more beyond...
The thing about PAMs is they are a package of history, variation, ambiguties and anomalies that will keep you learning from now until eternity....
Its threads and work like this that push the boundaries of our hobby and in turn push the makers to look at producing new models ...it is only by the responses and involvemnt of guys here that will help to do that... but it seems threads on QC or 'whats the best..' gets more interest than what this actual interest is about... or more importantly how you can learn and appreciate more..
I recall my first thread on here as ..'What do PAM casebacks mean by the letters next to the numbers..' since that first completely daft and noobie question I would like to think I knwo a bit more about PAMs and because of what I have learnt I have grown to love this marque.... not because its fashionable or an expensive watch or to impress my friends workmates etc but because it has a character and a history.... and anything is possible
And the reason I have that love is because of guys like Mike...whose knowledge and experience is way way beyond anything that any one has here... and its because of him that I know more about PAMs..
I have replied on another forum regarding the actual OP but here I just want to say a big public thank you to Mike for the time and effort he makes in this hobby/interest and the fact he is willing to take the time to share it with us...
I aint trying to have a go here just to gently remind you guys that without these sorts of threads and members like Mike we wouldnt have the standard of PAM OTB reps we do and wouldnt have sections like this attracting such a wealth of info and shared knowledge... actually about PAMs rather than just 'Who has the best sub..?'
Great work Mike Thank you for making me a better PAM head
Hear, hear Pete!

I only care about who makes the best watch and both factories have their greatest hits but i agree with Tanya that currently the v3 noob is hands the down the best version available. I'm using a v3 caseset and cg for my h factory 390.

Interesting and comedic to see the broad conclusions and stereotypes members here buy into just from seeing a modern Rolex on somebody. I guess that is how the Amish view people who drive actual automobiles and not the good old horse and buggy

Not passe for me and I still love it. My grail watch when I got it. I remember seeing the Pepsi dial GMT in the 70's and fell in love with the watch and had no idea what a Rolex watch was until I got much older. Then I learned about subs and got a 16610. Then I learned more and wanted a 1680. Now I want a 5513.

What is a dial color correction?

Unless this is a shill post I have no idea why you would buy from a place that is not a TD especially since they are using a gen photo from a known watch reseller (gemnation). Good luck getting anything and more luck getting anything that resemble a >200,000 USD PAM.

After you put the spring back on the push pin you can use purple loctite around the edge of the module and put it back in the hole. If the complete module has come apart I think you new a new complete module and use the loctite to secure it. This happened to a V1 312 I had. Had no problems with it afterwards.

Lovely pics m3 thanks for sharing, the 8500 is a great looking watch, interesting to see the old 45mm PO size against the new 42mm PO in the wrist shot. Build quality of the 8500 looks amazing.
....also these pics on forums of crown of one watch scraping off the nice brushed case side of the other always send a shiver up my spine
Haha no worries cougar I made sure I did not move my wrist and no damage was incurred btw they are both 45.5mm

more to $5000
the insert is perfect - all tritium with a nice cream patina - good case - this one looks very nice.
+1
And that would be on the low end especially if it still has its sharp edges. Paperwork such as service or original papers adds to the values. Unless the box is original to the watch you might be better off selling it separately D.

Thanks guys. The dial is an MK 1 and the case still has all of its chamfers/bevels and the lug pin holes are still nice and flat so the case has either never been polished or very lightly if at all. Here are some macros.

GEN? That blue insert is to die for.
Yes. The insert is a fat font that has faded to a nice blue-gray.

I don't post here much but wanted to start and since there has been a few 1680 threads recently I figured I put some pics of mine.

I would buy one or 2 depending on cost.

This is my favorite Planet Ocean by far. I saw one these a few weeks ago alongside a meteoroid dial Speedy at the local Omega Boutique and it's an absolute stunner in person!
I hope these will be available for some time since I'm in the process of finishing up my 6263 project and unfortunately right now there's now way I can justify one of these as well...
Better grab one now or wait for a used one. It is a limited edition run of 1948 to commerate the first yr the Seamaster was introduced. As with all new tech I'm sure this Liquid Metal technology will eventually find it's way to other regular production models. For now I heard these are or were only available thru Omega boutiques and not your regular AD's.
anybody has tips how to rebrush - refinnish CGs ?
in The Panerai Area

Did you get pics before the trade? I wouldn't even bother trying to refinish. Previous owner must have been a plumber who wore this watch to work
