  1. I love it, very Steam Punk. How much will one of these bad boys set me back.
  2. Go for the Trusty option and see how you get on. Most people on here probably started off with a 1:1 replica from trusty You may be happy and not notice the flaws. You probably will though and in this case don't spend money on moding something like that as its money down the drain. If you want a better rep in the future sell the Trusty sub and get a MBW. If you mod it well you will add value to it and can move it on as your tastes change without loosing a fortune.
  3. I have 2 MBW 1665 cases one supplied about 4 years ago by 'George' from Greece, who was the only dealer I was aware of at the time SN 5790168, it takes gen parts. The second one supplied by Eurotimez about 18 mths ago is identical, takes gen. parts but has the SN 5790768 Both supplied as Gen MBW whatever that means.

    Gen?

The Bezel teeth don't work for me so I am going to say fake, or maybe just the Bezel is fake.
  5. If I had no dial I would probably buy one from Yuki.
  6. Have now ordered a date wheel of Fxrandy
  7. Yes it will thats what I have just done with mine. The Trusty dial is pretty poor though, if you plan on using the trusty dial there is probably little reason to use the MBW case. You may as well just wear the Trusty version as is.
  8. SN 5790768. IMO the Clark Superdome fits perfectly. Reasonably tight fit on the case but can be pushed on by hand and the retaining ring can be pushed on with out using a press. I used a plastic ruler and worked my round putting a bit of weight on it. I have got a crystal press but prefer the ruler method because you can see whats going on.
  9. You may be right the PT pearl is a bit smaller than the standard, it is nicely aged though which doesn't show up so well in the photo.
  10. Finished this 1665 last night and I am quite pleased with it, it’s built up from MBW 1665 Case, lugs drilled, CG’s reworked. MBW dial ETA 2846 Gen Triplock and Cousins tube Clarke Super dome Bezel insert and pearl from a PT 1665 which also provided the movement Hollow mid link bracelet not sure of the source. The hands are a mixed bag to produced a none matching hands, dial combination like you see on many gens. Has passed the hand to the bottom of the fish tank test, so no doubt its good for 600m. Still need a decent date wheel, I have about half a dozen date wheels with better fonts but the alignment is off on all of them, a non centred date drives me nuts . I picked this date disc one because it has the best alignment, get in touch if you have something better. Also looking for a GW case back rather than the Red type fitted at the moment. Seen here joining the collection with a couple of other bits and pieces .

  12. I vote for the MBW 5512.
  13. Has this been worth the wait? http://www.yukiwatch.com/catalog/item/6784664/7752471.htm
  14. I can't see the need for Gen. tubes, the ones from Cousins are indistinguishable from gen when fitted and are of the same quality, They are
  15. I am sure there is a deal to be done . PM me if you would like to discuss it further.
  16. I normally have this problem and I use the cousins case tubes. They seem uncomfortably tight but I just use a bit of grease on the threads and take it slowly, back it out half a turn when it gets really tight and try again. When it bottoms out unwind it, which it will do easily, clean off all the grease and apply some locktite. It will go in a lot easier the second time.
  17. The deal breaker for me is the way the crystal is retained on the PT. I don’t really like the nylon ring. I would rather have the tried and tested Rolex method, and I already have an MBW case. Are you interested in buying the PT case, I will throw in a gen. crown.
  18. The coronet is not great although I usually sand away most of the coronet logo on the clasp to give it that refurbished many times look.
  19. I have had a few MBW 1665’s and it always depresses me when you get one and put a lot of it in the bin, so I brought a case and dial from ET for $230 and waited for some parts to turn up. My PT 1665 has just arrived, here’s what I have found so far. The Bezel insert and pearl are pretty good, much better than the MBW ones and I will be using these. The movement is a good clean 2846 not sure if its gen. with the silver flat top 3 date wheel I will be using these. The bracelet is a good hollow type with 580 end links sized to take gen spring bars. The end links fit the MBW case well and the flip lock clasp has no lines. I will be using all this as well. The hands are not bad I may use these. Adding up the value of these bits and pieces using ET and Yuki as references the values are Hollow link band, ET $70 End links, ET $20 Date wheel ET $40 when they can get them. Movement say, $75 Bezel insert with pearl Yuki, $45 Gives a total of $250 and the PT watch cost $198 Combined with the MBW case this will give me a total cost of $428 Compared with a standard MBW1665 at $370 which needs a different movement, new pearl, and date wheel this doesn’t seem too bad. I haven’t included the cost of a superdome, gen crown, tube, drilling the lug holes etc. etc as you need to do this work on either MBW option. Plus I get a reasonable case set to make to make a 1665 Homage beater with a MK II dial.
  20. Looking good. Mine is still en route. What’s the date wheel alignment like do all the numbers line up in the window.
  21. I have two MBW 1665 cases one about 4 years old and one brought recently from ETZ. The only difference I can see and measure is the crown guards which are much better on the newer case. Both are very hard and the lug holes took a long time to drill. Both required the case to be retapped to take a gen tube. Both take a Clarke Superdome. I am not sure about the bezel insert as I intend to reuse the MBW one with a Yuki pearl.
  22. I have got a PT 1665 on order to use as a parts source to complete an MBW 1665. I then thought about just putting the MBW dial into the PT, but the more info that comes out about the PT the less I like it. I am now going back to my original plan of using the PT movement, date wheel and bracelet with the MBW case, dial and gen clasp. I think if you want a decent out of the box rep without moding go for the PT, anyone who can call you out on that will also be able to spot an MBW. If you think you will want to mod it now or later get the MBW as you will end up with a better product . It is probably a worse out of the box rep as its immediately let down by the pearl and lug holes.
  23. it's just the flip lock clasp.
  24. Not sure if this is against the rules but I was looking for a valuation on a Gen. 93150 clasp destined for ‘Straps and Bracelets’. It’s in excellent condition marked with an H and the flip lock does not have any lines, any ideas what I should put it up for.
