  1. Yes there is lume but it isn't very good at all. I'm going to break it in for a month and then see if I can get it lumed up providing the thing doesn't fall apart (which I doubt it will). Overall i'm very happy with the quality of this rep, the only major tells I can see are the recessed date wheel and the blue on the hour hand is a shade darker than the minute one. That I can deal with at less than 10% of the gen price.
  2. Hi everyone, I'm pretty new to the boards (lurking for a while) and I managed to get some great advice here that led me to my first 'quality' rep purchase. I've been a B&R fan (with a Casio budget!) for a long time and picked up a pretty terrible BR01-94 from Shanghai a few years ago. It had no case back screws, poor spelling, , non-functional chrono, incorrect case dimensions and said BR03-94 on the front dial! It has stood up to use as my daily watch for the last couple of years. Then I went and visited a B&R AR to check out a gen and I realised what a terrible rep my first one was, so bad that I stopped wearing it! Thanks to this site I found Mr Hont and purchased the aforementioned 01-94 from him after much research. He said it was made using a gen as a template and now I've got it I have to say it is a terrific rep. The movement keeps excellent time, the chrono functions perfectly and the overall quality seems great. Here are some pics :- Apologies for the slightly rubbish pictures, my photography skills are only equalled by my ballet dancing ones!
  3. I just picked up a BR01-94 from Mr Hont in PVD with a blue dial (pics about to be posted in another thread) and it has screws on the back. I've compared mine to a gen and it is incredibly close to the original. It looks like he has 92s using the same case:- http://www.hontwatch.com/productinfo.asp?id=10640
  4. Good things come to those who wait. In San Francisco you wouldn't want to eat at a brunch spot at the weekend that didn't have at least a one hour wait! Thanks for the tip Ken, I'll be sure to report back once I've eaten there.
  5. *drool* I know where I'm going tomorrow, I had no idea it actually had a star!
  6. No, should I? I do like me some dumplings! Question - where is the right place for me to put up photos of my BR01-94? In this thread or should I start a new one in the 'other brands' area? I'm excited to share it with you as I think it is the nicest BR rep I've ever seen.
  7. Thanks for the warm welcome thus far, this site has been a wonderful source of information and advice. I'm from London originally but have been living in California for the last five years, I moved to Hong Kong in December 2009.
  8. Hi everyone, I've been a lurker here for a little while and thought it was about time to introduce myself. I'm an ex-pat living in HK and this is something of a new obsession for me. I owned a gen Breitling Aerospace in Ti some years ago that unfortunately got stolen. I had not paid much attention to watches until a couple of years ago when I started seeing Bell & Ross watches advertised in Car magazine. The gens are way out of my price range and on a business trip to Shanghai a few years ago I managed to pick up a really bad BR01-94 rep that is still going strong even though the rubber strap fell apart about a month after I got home, I replaced the strap with a leather one from eBay and I've worn it as a beater for a good while now. Since finding this site I was able to get myself a fantastic BR01-94 rep Ltd edition in PVD & Blue from Mr Hont that I'll post pics of soon, it has a 7750 movement, fully operational chrono and the elusive screws for the removable lugs in the case back. It certainly cost more than my first rep but the quality seems deeply impressive. So thanks to everyone for the advice and information, I'm just figuring out what my next one will be!
