  1. So your saying DW did a midcase that accepts a gen Oem plexi on the rehaut without any mods?

Or is that an aftermarket phong plexi?

That's the first time I've heard or seen that possibility in many years and scores of builds across all forums.

How do you recognise that case then?

It seems illogical as the stock DW plexi is a completely different size?

Are you sure your case has not been modded by a previous owner?

    Intriguing ?

  2. To install a gen spec plexi to a stock DW midcase and bezel you have two issues

As stated rehaut is too small in diameter so can be built up with metal tape to the outside

Then the plexi OD is too large for the ID of the DW bezel so you have to trim the inside circumference of the bezel to open it up

When yo do this you move the numbers closer to the inside edge!

Alternatively install a gen spec bezel also from WSO or other seller in NYC

Many gen owners did install a non cyclop plexi which is an easier straight fit mod

Orchi did a thread on TRF or VRF

    Good luck

  3. It's definitely possible!

I owned the latest crpo reps, then bought the gen, now wonder why?

In time has a decent offer on the v6f now, which is a good entry point?

Arguably the noob crpo was the best version, if you can get one and wish to pay a lot more?

  4. Last week I made a Panerai pilgrimage to the beautiful region of Tuscany and in particular to the areas of Firenze, La Spezia and Portofino. You can read more about that in the Panerai forum.

During the trip I was able to spend some quality time with my favourite strap makers in Firenze - Distefano straps. Both Simona and Chris could not have been more helpful and accomodating, if you ever get the chance to call in then do so!

I was hoarding and buying far too many Panerai related straps and buckles (as it is so easy to do!) when we began to discuss my frustration with my beloved genuine Omega CrPO - in that the OEM straps and deploys were exorbitant in price and limited in style and range (IMHO). Simply put, I had not found anything quite suitable as an alternative. The CrPO is a robust sports/diver watch and needed something equally rugged, but oozing quality and finish to complement it.

So after too much debate and examination of many, many 22mm straps, we arrived at the following combinations, which I absolutely recommend to all PO owners - Gen and Rep alike!

A key aspect for me was the buckle - gen Omega Seamaster buckles are only available up to 20mm and are quite lightweight in construction. I wanted something that balanced with the lines of the Omega midcase and Simona found a perfect match for me! The finish and chamfered cuts to the surfaces are an amazing, complimentary match to the the case lugs and chamfers on the midcase.

As my watch was wearing the OEM black with orange stitch rubber and deploy, we started the day by mounting up an example with that same colour.

Can you see what I mean on the buckle finish and style?

Then the dreaded 'Panerai malaise' set in................why have one new strap when I could have several?

This tan version just complements the orange indices so well  - what do you think?

.....and is quite in keeping with the original Omega styling highlights.

  6. Never seen that on a modern Noob watch, but I have seen it on older DLC parts from Avitt. Bought some parts a year back in a batch (cases and crowns and CGs) and some of them were the same>

I think I still have a few T48 crowns with avitt DLC that show some signs of patina or whatever it is.............

Does not look good on a modern K serial like that?
