If there is a demand for such a classy watch, why can't someone rep a good quality? Naive question, but I am just curious to understand how this rep business works - how do they decide to rep a watch to a low grade or high grade?

Nice Starter Pam. There are loads of fixes for it but it all depends how far you want to pursue them.

I'd always change the strap as the rep strap quality can be always be improved quickly and easily

I think you've got it in one. I basically want a watch that looks nice on my wrist, which happens to be a Panerai (but I can't afford the real one, YET!). Saying that, I am not trying to pull this off as a real one.

Strap isn't great, but will do for now.
