  8. for clarification: the development of Pvd and Dlc processes are not made for watches. it is made for high end industy standards and products and for exteme material protections. one day panerai thought, ok, the pvd process is a good coating to give our pams a new look. later many other watch brands are followed. and then later it came the dlc coating and panerai were the first again. the standard pvd / dlc processes have a standard color, and this is black. the pvd process is a plasma metalize process in connection with a matal alloy plate in the pvd machine. the target gets a metal coating, and the basis color is black. a little bit influence brings the surface blasting with glass bead or with fine granulate and then glas bead blasting. with this light refraction of the surface the color will be anthracite or more grey. the dlc is a totally other process. here it is used pure carbon with plasma procedure to coat the target product. totally other machines than for the pvd process. dlc brings a extreme high abrasion resistance and acid resistance. high end standards and producs and especially for medical products. also here the color is black. the suface blasting influenced here only a little bit, to a dark anthracite or dark graphite color. some further developments have brought the result, to mix the plasma process with carbon and a small share of tungsten. further fields of applications are possible. the carbon plasma or carbon tungsten plasma process coating has a extreme high hardness. also here the basis color is black. never to forget, all the processes are made for industry products with a extreme high surface application. not for watches. the black color is the result of the plasma machines. watch brands use these coatings as gimmick / trend. also other pvd or dlc process colors are possible, but this is another theme. color manipulations on pictures comes always from a cheap camera and a bad light conditions. i never use artificial light or daylight lamps. my camera shots are made outside with a canon 100mm macro lens. but pictures are never a perfect reference for a real assessment. the different plasma machine developments make the color. no machine is developed for watch coatings. many pvd and dlc companies use different plasma machines for different applications. and some of them have also the watch coating. only the dlc companies know whether they use pure carbon plasma process or carbon mixed with tungsten plasma process. for the next case dlc coating i will use a company with carbon / tungsten plasma machine. then also here we will see the color result. i hope this little review helps to understand a bit more. rolli
  9. as i have already stated, this DLC coating here is a pure carbone dlc coating, and not mixed with tungsten. this company used the pure carbone DLC coating only for watches and for medical instruments. other companies use the dlc coating = carbone mixed with tungsten for medical parts and tools and also for dental implants and many other parts. the dlc coating mixed with tungsten has a grey graphit color. with the next pam case i will use the dlc coating with carbone / tungsten, then we see the color difference. note: only these both dlc coatings are on market. rolli
  10. MERRY CHRISTMAS for all of you. it's always a big pleasure to be here. rolli
  11. your thought is wrong. some companies offer dlc coating - pure carbon coating and some companies offer dlc coating - carbon coating mixed with tungsten. pure carbon is more dark pencil graphite, carbon with tungsten is more grey graphite. depending on the application is both requested. note: dlc coating is an industry standard and not made for watches. watches are a byproduct. rolli
  12. this oem sapphire crystal is made for the genuine cases not for the rep cases. the gen cases have another construction for the crystal. rolli

  18. i think the stem is not too long. the case-tube is made of two parts. the outer tube ring and the inner thread tube. but the thread tube must be a bit deeper in the case tube ring, but both parts are glued together in the case. with another radiomir my watchmaker splitted both tubes in connection with a ultrasonic bath, that the glue was removable and the case-tube came out. he glued both tubes together in the right condition. so the crown could be screwd till the stop point. rolli
  19. wait, davidsen will produce a new 111H or a J-serie too. rolli
  20. 064 sub 1000m. has a black dial with a silver-grey subdial and long minute marker on the bezel. 087 sub 1000m. has a blue dial with a blue ( matched ) subdial and short minute marker on the bezel. rolli
  21. now i have the company which can make the composite process with watch parts. currently i'm in the first test phase for the 339 composite. i have different aluminium alloy plates ( 50 x 50mm ) for the anodize process to see the different color results, which gives the darkest aluminium oxyd and which is the best to colorize in deep dark brown ( black-brown ) with the second principle of anodize process. the aluminium oxyde are mostly dark grey or light grey. so after it must be colorize. so..this is the first serie of tests. to make a deep dark brown result with a titanium case and pvd coating is not possible, because it has been shown that the brown pvd is only possible with a perfect result, when only one case is in the pvd chamber, but this too expensive. when there are more cases in the pvd chamber for the brown color, then only the cases in the center of the chamber get the perfect coating result, the other will be spotted on the surface. this is a physical problem and no solution for this. that's why the companies have this dark brown pvd color not anymore. rolli
  22. no....... requirement for a composite process is the case must be produced in aluminium alloy ( ALMGSI1 ) the anodise process in a bath with anode and cathode, but reversed, the alu case gets on top of the surface the aluminium oxyde. this material named chemical ceramic oxyde material. this method called composite procedure or ceramization process too. same procedure with the pam 339. rolli
  23. and don't forget........ PVD Coating by Rolli
