  1. Interestingly enough... this thread is now linked over on rwg1... I read that site occasionally... but I've never found it to be up to snuff... Now I guess I know why i've never been to keen on it.

Sad to hear this story Kenberg... I hope that yourself and all others who were swindled get your gear or your cash...

  2. Nah... Howards on Sirius (isn't he?)... I keep listening to the Punk station... I refuse to grow up. Still have the black leather jacket with various socially ill-fitting band logos painted upon it. As the T-shirt my wife made me says..."Aging Punk"

I'm in denial... I'm only 29... I'm still a "youth" right?... damnit I'm getting old, joints all hurt when I get up in the morning... hearing is a bit off from years of shooting firearms and playing guitar and bass in various punk-rawk bands.

  3. I've been fighting this exact dilema for the past several weeks... After reading your excellent thread By-Tor I've made the decision to own both... Once that decision was made, the braintwister of the moment was "which one first"... yeesh... I know that after I buy one this week I'll buy the other in about 2 weeks and have em both by the end of the month... I spent more time deciding which to buy first as opposed to which to buy... I finally settled on the 4th gen P.O. just because I love divers and have never really cared for Chronos.. (Tag is prolly gonna change that)... In refernce to the original posting... The Tag is prolly more dressy, the Omega will get more glances from those that know watches... can't go wrong with either I'd say.

And dangit... now that SMP Chrono is also calling my name... luckly its near the bottom of my "want" list... that'll take quite a bit of time to get too.

  4. We... me and the Mrs. OiRogers have three hounds at the moment...

    131466-19150.jpg

Kiva... 5 year old Border Collie mix...high speed.

    131466-19151.jpg

Nancy... Staffordshire Terrier (sp?)(mix?... dunno rescue dog)... 5+years? (also dunno.. rescue dog)... very stout ball of equal parts anger and love.

    131466-19152.jpg

Steve... 2 and 1/2 year old Ridgeback mix... 80 pounds of happiness and puppy love..

    131466-19153.jpg

and the final photo for now... how puppies are made.

Oh yeah... quite possible I'll also have an 8 week old boxer/greatdane mix later today... wife is bringing home from work i think... gonna have lots o' dogs here shortly.

  5. Wow... I must be lucky... My wife wouldn't notice a new rep on my wrist if I were to take it off, hand it to her and ask "What you think of this watch?"... She can't tell a Pam from a Sub from a hand-knit friendship braclet... basically she could care less about my watches. In fact she still asks why I need a rep when the fossil I used to wear for work still keeps time... yeesh women, so impractical. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

I tell her about most of my rep purchases... others aren't worth bothering her with... We have a joint account and each have a seperate account for personal purchases (such as watches for me, and camera stuff for her) As long as I've got the funds to pay the house payment and keep food in the fridge and gas in the truck/bikes I can do pretty much what I wish... As I stated earlier... I must just be lucky.

  6. @The Zigmeister....

The crystal wasn't advertised as sapphire... It was listed by the seller as "synthetic crystal" which I took to mean... the same glass my 13 year old fossil quartz I wore in high-school has, meaning pretty easily scratched cause its prolly just a circular piece of glass.

Overall it's a cheap rep... less than 100usd. Asian Mvmt, "synthetic crystal"... but I had hoped to get a bit of wear out of it before it self-destructed. I'm a sucker for the Horseycars...

And I knew what I was ordering... I'd just hoped it would arrive intact :bounce: .. not having suffered :bangin: in the shipping process :black_eye: ...

I just took the caseback off and it seriously looks like the impact to the front crystal pushed the movement so hard it broke the back crystal from the inside... wow. :(

Yeesh... I'm actually curious is someone did line this up for a hammer shot .... without opening the package thats talent. :g:

  7. Hrmm... now I go and look at the Senna watch... Damnit. I like it. Was all set to hit the "pay now" for just the regular link in blue tomorrow when a check I deposited yesterday clears.... Now I'm in that toss up point...

And I must say the caseback issue isn't a huge one to me... not like I'll wear it into an AD. And i'm just guessing that 99.999% of the worlds population has no idea what the caseback is 'posed to look like anyhow. And the .0001% that do?... we all post here.

orange p.o.... tag blue link chrono... Senna chrono... looks like gonna be a coin toss flip off at the old OiRogers homestead tonight.

  8. Got my newest toy in the mail a couple of days ago... Customs were nice enough to send it on unopened and uninspected...

The package arrived intact.. upon opening the mailer heres what I found

    130316-19425.jpg

Upon cutting the watch out of the foam "protective sleeve" I found that thoughtfully someone had placed a protective layer of smashed watch-crystal over the face of my new toy. How thoughful

    130316-19426.jpg

Truly impressed by the quality I beheld... I pressed onward, or rear ward, as it were... and found in addition to the neat-o hexagonal patterning on the viewback, someone at the post office had taken the time to place a beautiful spiderweb on the case back... talk about attention to detail. B)

    130316-19427.jpg

And finally... I unwrapped my new baby and took a good long look at the face. Wow. Just Wow. Talk about exclusive watch design... Minutes at 7:15... Seconds at 9... Center Hour... man talk about a neat design. And check out the quality of that AR coating... its almost as if the crystal had be totally smashed and was just not there :D

Seriously though... my first DOA order. Makes me sad. Oh well... I ordered from a trusted dealer who I am in conversation with about replacement. From looking at the packaging, I have come to the conclusion that boxes are a good shipping method. I've never had a boxed watch damaged in transit, this is the first document mailer shipped watch I've gotten and it was beyond smooshed... I couldn't quite get the photo to show it but there is a nice concave pit into the dial which has destroyed any chance the poor movement ever had of ticking again.

Such is life. I have high hopes for the 2nd attempt on this watch. I'm also undetered on reps and will continue to purchase from our trusted sellers. Infact, I plan on ordering tomorrow either the Tag Link Chrono or one of those Omega P.O.s I've heard you kids are so wild about these days.

  9. My black sub from Andrew (not a close rep by any means... but a good beater) has been a constant +1 sec/day as long as I wear it daily... When I let it sit a week in a winder it went to -6 a day... back on the wrist and back to +1 sec day. I'm extremly pleased with this accuracy.

My wife however runs around -23 minutes/day... anyone know how to adjust that movement?

  10. yeesh. Just for kicks I sent him a question through ebay... I asked him to either post or email me a picture of the serial number between the lugs agains the rollie paperwork...

Think i'll even get the reply of... I don't know how to take the bracelet off?

Also asked him just in general what letter code the watch is...

I didn't even ask about the glaring problems of CG and bezel-pearl.

I'm not expecting to hear back from this one.

EDIT: Amazingly enough he replied that he would be happy to mail me photos of the serial number between the lugs... as to photos of the the watch against the paperwork... no go.

And I tried to reply to his message to give my email addy for photos... been taken down by ebay already... dang I was starting to enjoy this.

  11. wow... i never thought that anyone would be able to adapt such knowledge of that time period in european history to wrist watches.

Very well put Tropic, you made many great points in your post. On reading your post, I find that I agree with you, many things about that watch just don't seem to fit or add up...

I wonder who the owner got it from... Joshua... Andrew... TTK?.... just kidding. :bangin:

  12. I'd have to agree with Kruzer00 on that Patek... overall size of 58mm? That seems a bit HUGE for a vintage watch... about the right size for a pocket watch though.

The rolex I don't even want to discuss... that thing is horrible. Not the worst rep I've ever seen... but its just f'n ugly. Even if it were a gen, its still horrible and an affront to human eyes.
