  1. I certainly respect your position I seem to be a bit out of step with how things work here as I am a new comer and still trying to understand the lay of the land here. I could be wrong, probably am, but I would think and hope, there's room in this hobby for something more than who's the best counterfeiter. Shouldn't artistic interpretation have a home here? Especially if you take into consideration the talents of some of the folks here. I'm mixing apples and oranges but if you look at what the Project X and ProHunter folks are doing couldn't one make the case that with the proper means this concept could be extended to a gen?
  2. I know this isn't going to be everyones cup of tea. I thought long and hard on this one. Here's a bit of the back story of my thought process when kicking this concept around with PBdad. Though I think much of the work here is amazing it does baffle me a bit in the same way this project baffles you. The effort and expense of trying to recreate something that already exists was not what I was after. I think the biggest tell is usually the person wearing the watch but that's another discussion entirely. My hobby is not watches but car customization. Stock anything never really did it for me. Having something that everyone else has is not something I'd be attracted to so this would be a very natural progression for me. I wanted something different, unique, larger than 40mm, vintage and custom at the same time. Again as in cars what's one of the first things you do? mod the engine, so we dropped the super charger in there that was the reason for the gen movement. I know this kind of thinking is not what is usually presented here but I can't help to wonder what fantastic work could come out of the amazingly talented people here if they stopped following the pattern of what already exists and just let their talent and imagination take them where it will.
  3. That was the point I probably didn't express it properly by using the work future. Thanks!
  4. Here's the latest version of PBdads Abyss. For those of you who don't know what he's up to, the idea was to take a DSSD and push it 50 years into the future. One of the features he offered was a display back. I was on the fence about it until he came up with this twist which is a gen1030 movement which is the same movement used in the 6538 big crown Bond sub. It's not finished yet I think we're going to go destro with it enjoy the pictures.
  5. Try No Agenda. Adam Curry and John C Dvorak are the hosts. Adam was the M-TV VJ that ended up making a small fortune on the Internet and Dvorak is a pretty well known tech writer. They stream live as well as publishing a podcast a day or 2 later. They have an app for android and iphone called Pocket NA and it'll tell you when they go live. It's twice a week and it's a pretty interesting twist on the news.
  6. It's ch along with the dagger pendant and the other bracelet. The skull is Bill Wall.
  7. You can check out the market section of the vintage rolex website. They have frequently have bands but for top dollar prices it's hard to find a bargain there. Vintage Rolex
  8. Just got my DRSD back from pbdad so I thought I'd make my first attempt at taking watch pictures. Unfortunately I don't have the proper gear but did what I could with what I've got. pbdad did an awesome job aging the watch. I sent him a picture of a Tudor sub which had very interesting lumes and he did a great job replicating the look. This rig is a little different vibe than most of the stuff you'll see here. It's a nice change of pace from my Breitling SA and blacksteel which get most of the wrist time. Check it out:
