  1. I have read much about the Daytona's history of being a time bomb and eventually not working. Is this because of the chronograph function or the whole movement? in other words, if the chronograph/tachymeter isn't used much is it still destined to fail prematurely compared to other reps? I was looking at buying one and don't really plan on using this complication much (if at all).
  2. Very nice. After seeing your watch I think I will get one like it. I like the contrast the gray dial has to the case and bracelet. Enjoy!
  3. That sucks! I placed an order for a rather common watch so I hope I don't go thru that crap. Like I said, I sent off an email asking what's up so hopefully I'll find out today. According to my gmtiic it's only 3 in the morning in China so I'll have to wait a few more hours to hear something. ahhhh the anticipation is dreadful.

freddy, are you saying that all reps should be serviced or are you referring to only chronos and/or complicated movements?
  5. Thanks DB. I recently placed an order with Trusty and within two days had the tracking number. I think I placed the order on a Thursday and by the next Friday I had the watch. I would guess that the packages are coming from the same vicinity in China. Like I said in my original post I'm not concerned of any issues here. Just wondering what others have experienced. I always get like this with things I buy. I guess it's the anticipation.
  6. I placed an order with Watcheden on Saturday (my first order with WE) and their site shows it went thru on Sunday (18 July). Today, 21 July, there is still no update with tracking number. Other dealers were much quicker to give me a tracking number. I emailed WE today and am waiting a response. What is average time for a tracking number and shipping from WE? I am confident that there is no issue here and I will receive the item. I am wondering how long others have waited. Shipping to Conus btw. Cheers!
  7. But that's sort of what i mean. By adding a simple one liner or tag it would nearly eliminate the PMs and replies which ask where or from whom it was bought that will undoubtedly follow a post. I don't know, I may be off by even suggesting such a thing, but I really think it's a good idea and would help out.
  8. I came up with this idea after seeing so many members, particularly new people to reps, ask either where they can get a specific watch or from what dealer someone purchased a specific watch. My idea is to, on a thread such as a W/C or a review, the poster would add a line indicating from which dealer the watch was purchased. I think this is good for a number of reasons. Specifically, it would nearly eliminate the number of threads started in which posters ask Who has the best Sub, Daytona, IWC, etc. I've seen it done in other forums I frequent (unrelated to reps) and it really helps. I'm not sure if server size or space is that much of a consideration, but it would definitely help new and old members alike by cutting down on the number of posts and searches. JAT (Just a Thought). OK, I'll go back to my room now
  9. I like the Daytona as much for its looks as for it's functionality, so I would definitely want the stop watch function to measure speed.
  10. Very cool Freddy, Thank you. Like I said in my OP I am relatively new, so "uncovering" all of this new stuff is awesome. Thanks again.
  11. Please pardon my ignorance since I am relatively new to RWG, but who is DW, Natalie and Phong? Could you provide a site for me to check out their items? Also, I'm not sure if I am grasping the argument here correctly or not. This is my take on the replicas: The majority of rep sales are to people who want a watch that will make others believe that it is real and in the end they will have saved thousands of dollars or pounds. To this end, the sales are most often of popular watches that buyers associate with the name (e.g., Submariner, Day Date). For these buyers the image portrayed to others is more important than the satisfaction of having such a watch. Please don't misinterpret this and I must put a caveat to this and that is I am referring to the most common situation (tourists/canal street as it was mentioned). In respect to the other buyers, whom I would categorize as a WIS, a rep is owned with the intent to replicate the genuine and, therefore, is owned for more of a personal satisfaction. Here enters the buyer looking for a vintage piece or an item that is not popular with the masses. I would say that a Rolex Daytona with a Paul Newman dial or an Explorer with a Steve McQueen dial would be representative of this. A Patek Philippe Complication would definitely be such a watch because few people outside of WIS/collectors would even know what these are. In other words, a Rolex Submariner would most likely catch the eye of an unassuming onlooker more than a Patek 1673. I may be wrong, but this is just an opinion. I cannot tell you the number of times someone looks at my genuine Rolex GMTIIC and says "Is that a new Submariner?" or "I like your Submariner." Cheers!
  12. Thanks By-Tor. I'll check that link you posted. BTW, I sent you a PM on another forum a few weeks ago. Did you ever get it?
  13. I think this may be my first post here, but I am a long-time reader/lurker. I'm curious as to the state of the current Daytona. I've read so much about the secs @ 6 and movement problems of past Daytona reps, so I was wondering what current production models are like. If you have recently ordered a Daytona would you be so kind as to post a few words about it? Specifically, appearance and quality. If you would, please include where you bought it and if you would do it again. I'm working on a project (hopefully will post it here soon) that will be all about the Daytona because I haven't been able to find anything recent. Cheers!
