"Sup, Gio!?  Have missed your photo-shoots the past couple of years, you run out of "girls?"  Nah... :partytime:

Haha..calmed down a bit since then. Just do fashion shoots now :)

So far the general feedback seems to be that it is more reliable, perhaps because of the frozen 3 and 9 subdials.

Good to know. Think I might spring for the ARF 116520, sand down the pushers & caseback and just wait for the DSSD V8 lol

  2. Hello to all again! I haven't spent a lot of time on these forums in years, as I've simply been satisfied with my old 116520 & V? DSSD. Anyway, I'm looking for help from some of the more knowledgeable current members--I'd like to update my DSSD and after doing a little homework have narrowed it down to either the V6s or the V7 (looking between these two):

         V6S:  https://www.intime02.co/rollie/2650-sea-dweller-deepsea-116660-black-ceramic-v6s-1-1-noob-best-edition-sa3135.html

         V7:  https://www.intime02.co/rollie/2950-sea-dweller-deepsea-116660-black-v7-1-1-noob-best-edition-a2836.html

From the pics & description I see I'm kind of leaning towards the V6s. After doing a few different searches I still haven't found a proper comparison here between the two to say: is the V7 really better than the V6s and if so for what reasons? And is the SA3135 really any worse in reliability than the 2836 or is that just outdated information?

Secondly, I have the old JF Daytona 116520 in white but am wondering if it's worth the upgrade to the new ARF w/ the (supposedly) 904L construction? I like the fact that unlike the JF the ARF 904L has a working stop-watch hand. My question is: is this new movement just another ticking timebomb like the old 7750 or is it as reliable for daily wear as the JF? And since the case is 1.5mm thicker is there a thinner caseback available or can I make it thinner by just using my old JF caseback and removing the rotor? Maybe I should just buy a 904L bracelet for my JF and call it a day.

Any help to these questions would be greatly appreciated. Good talking & thanks for your help.

  3. Hello again to all--long time, no see. :)  I'm looking to source either a gen DSSD crystal or a proper replica one for my still running V3:

I haven't really been following the rep game for a couple of years & couldn't even honestly tell you what release of this model they're even on...  I know the V4 and others had way too much distortion in them to even be usable & my V3 has 0 distortion. Does anyone know which new crystal has essentially the same distortion as the gen and hopefully the crown etching at 6 o'clock?

And regarding the gen, has anyone tried putting a gen crystal in a V3?

Thanks for the updates & advice in advance. And take care!

  4. Decided to do a little christmas shopping for myself:

Had the 116520's for ages & always wanted a classic 6239. I always thought the more widely known Newman Daytonas were too loud/busy looking for my taste; been in a conversation with Spinmaster for a while now and finally fell in love with one & took the plunge. The above pics are just a sneak preview of what he's going to assemble for me (it will be the proper band, DW case & hands, upgraded movement, etc.). Decided not to go for the gen crown & crystal as they really don't mean that much to me, being that I genuinely like it exactly as is, to be completely honest.

Anyway, I know it's been a year (or two) *cough* since I've actually done a proper pictorial, but as soon as I receive the piece I'll give it a thorough review, heavy on the pics as usual.

    Enjoy!

  6. Lol. Thanks all.

I'm trying to snag one of these but there seems to be something lost in translation. He's told me to pay him via moneybooker or something but I keep asking him--thru PM--how I pay him (i.e. what name, account info to send it to, etc), and he just keeps saying "send it to me"...

  7. Been a while since I've had any interest for these but I popped on this afternoon and discovered this:

What luck have people had with these? I read some kerfuffle about QC issues but it looks like most get corrected? Just trying to see what the latest word on the virtual street is. :)

And hello once again to all!

  8. Opus was decent for a Cali cab, but there are far better below Opus' cost that drink much higher; check out Nickel & Nickel of Far Niente. Plus, any Opus over the last few years has gone down the toilet due to Rothschild & Mondavi selling off the estate & losing the winemaker they had from Mouton Rothschild...
