  1. Thanks, everybody. I'm glad that there's some Tudor love here, unlike that other site.

Wow very nice, what parts did you use?

    Here are the specs:

    • rep Daytona 116520 case
    • gen dial and hands
    • swiss 7750
    • DW 6263 Daytona bezel (it fits!)
    • Clark 118 (I'm not a fan of sapphire crystals)

Here's another Tudor I put together:

    specs:

    • gen dial

    • gen hands

    • rep case (I think it may be a Yuki)

    • rep bezel insert

    • Clark 125

  2. I got the movement to stay in place by stacking clips, as Justasgood suggested. After placing the hands, I've found out that my movement is basically dead. The chrono doesn't work and the seconds hand doesn't tick away. Yet, the hour and minute hands keep time. I think I've had it for this project. :black_eye: Maybe somebody else would like to take over?

On the other hand, this project went smooth as butter...

  3. Is the DW case made to accept the gen Valjoux 7734 movement or generic replica movement like an ETA 2836-2 or 7750?

What movement are you using? What type of clips are you using? Are they too long? too short? Too big? too small?

Need a little more info to help you out :victory:

The DW case is meant for a gen 7734, which is what I have (complete with 45min totalizer). The problem I'm having is that the movement sits too low inside the case which makes the groove on the case for the clips too low. No matter what clips I use, there is never enough pressure exerted on the movement to hold it in place. I think my case may have a manufacturers flaw.

  4. Well....my movement clips arrived and they didn't work. But, what's worst is that my 7734 decided to die on me.

So, I think I'm going to give up on this project and pass along these frustrations to somebody else.

I will be selling my DW 7032 kit (case, dial, hands) and non-working 7734 (45 min totalizer) over on that other RWG site.

My nick there is "Speedzmaster." You can PM me there. I'll be posting the FS probably on Sunday.

This project is far too costly!

  5. Bobby,

There are some things I will play with as reps, but when it comes to my life, nothing beats real gear. Especially if you're exposed to genuinely cold weather, a parka will save your life. Do not rely on second best.

For that reason, don't buy TNF. They were good 20 years ago but they've rested on their laurels too long. Sure, their Himalayan parka is still nice but forget the price. And for anything but the most extreme conditions you'll sweat into the 800 fill down and it loses its insulation ability.

You cannot go wrong with the "three Ms" ... Mountain Hardwear, Marmot and Moonstone. I wear Moonstone shells because they simply WILL NOT wear out. Bulletproof Gore-tex. Mountain Hardwear makes the warmest sleeping bags, period. Try a King Tut sometime. Marmot makes (IMHO) the best parkas. I use the Whitehorse parka for camping down to -40F and it's never let me down. Plus it's waterproof with taped seams so your down stays dry. And it costs about the same as TNF.

    Marmot Whitehorse parka

Another point: avoid parkas with the soft, tearable outer layer. Yes, they stuff nicely but that matters to like, 10 people. The rest of us want a coat that does not tear and leak feathers.

    +100 :clapping:

  6. To be more explicit, if you only believe that replica merchandise is thinly disguised junk then you've missed the point of this web forum and our community. We find and share sources of honestly good replica merchandise.

Read the reviews and make up your own mind.

We're talking about rep clothing. Not watches.

If you think the quality in rep clothing is the same as that of rep watches, then, if I may so quote my new friend Jkay, "You fail!"
