  1. This is the watch i purchased from Andrew (Explorer I Rep ETA version), I dropped it couple of times, and the self-winder (the half circle thing) fell, i opened it, and just simply un screwed the center screw, took a gear out, then put it back on the spinner/winder, it's held by 5 ball bearings, i realigned the gear then screwed it back on, then screwed the back on again. but i took some photos of the movement to see exactly what it is.. anyway here are 2 more photos if it will help. http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/5929/92355832.jpg http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/819/mmspicturef.jpg thanks
  2. http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/2626/mmspicture.jpg Is it an ETA 2836? I searched pics on Google and it looks similar if not, exactly the same... thanks for your help.
  3. **Sorry forgot to mention, Mechanical watches only. So the question is simple... what replica model from what company is the most accurate external wise (Everything from ranging to engraving vs etch, font, height on crown, etc) and functionality wise (BPM, date). Internal's don't really matter, I guess ETA, Clone ETA movements are great. If you guys have a list of them, which of them require the least modifications to make it even more accurate? (So basically best OOB from the list) Thanks a lot guys.
  4. sry for double post, but i tihnk i got it fixed. ok wow i can't remember the name of the piece.. but the thing that spins LOL, was off, it the gear was still in there will the screw, so i unscrewed it then clamped it together lightly using a needle nose plyers and the rubber dish washing glove between (so i dont scratch or apply too much force), it looks like the gear is holding the spinning thing by 5 ball bearings (i forget, i just assembled it back),i lined it up with the 2 other gears then screwed it back on. i think this happened because i dropped it rather than anything else... oh, and i applied some 100% silicon oil on the o-ring before i closed it... hope thats ok.
  5. edit* i got the mopic of the movement. http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/2626/mmspicture.jpg
  6. seems like i got gipped then, because when im turning it, its not smooth. i hear like grinding noisel ike noises from the turns, like sand and metal or something
  7. hey guys... recently my Explorer I rep broke.. (well something is rattling inside), and I contacted Vac and asked for a quote and got the price back. It looks like it's going be around $186 for the repair, and if I want to relume it, it would be even more... I bought this from andrew, trustywatchguy... I got the "ETA" Version, (Which I still dont even know if it's actually ETA or 21 Asia, if anyone can tell me how to tell, thatd be awesome)... Been wearing it every day... I like this watch because of the automatic movement, and especially the design and sapphire glass... I am wondering if I should get this serviced, or get a Seiko, Citizen, or Wenger (non-rep watch) for the price I can get it repaired at. I guess the pros of getting this fixed would be finally figuring out if its actually the ETA movement or the asia movement for sure, keeping the design and automatic movement... cons would be, I can get a brand name watch with a warranty for the same price, but id be giving up the same design and automatic movement and the "name"... what do you guys think?
  8. Explorer I doesn't have the date wheel though... oh wow ok, i did that it worked! lol thanks, at least i dont have to get that fixed.
  9. hey guys, since Facebook accounts were having problems, I made a regular account here and posting it with this id.. hope you guys don't mind... but anyway, I purchased a rep. explorer I from trustywatchguy sometime ago, yesterday, i noticed there was a rattle.. I stopped using it. Weird thing is, the watch still works... anyway, I want to get this repaired, and I want to know if anyone can recommend me anyone here in the US... oh btw, this is the ETA 2836 version I think. *I know it's not a asia movement. I also would like to service this watch for: 1. I noticed some moisture when I accidently put it in hot water, so new O ring, drying it, etc 2. cleaning the internals, lubing it. 3. Regulating it. 4. re-illumination I don't need all of it, but I need at least, #1 and #2 done, #3 would be very nice, #4 is just something extra. oh, a price estimation/overlook would be nice if anyone can provide that. thanks I also think this watch has a problem of not winding manually since day 1. I'm not sure if i'm doing it wrong or something... I'm fairly sure I unscrew the crown, then pull it 1/2 way then wind it, because 2/2 way is adjusting the time... any help would be nice. oh, I don't plan on reparing this myself... don't have that kind of patience or steady hands
