  1. OK guys,

I figured there are some smart experienced people on this forum. I wanted to run my situation by you. My wife JUST finally gave me the OK to buy a gen Panerai (finance). But the source I wanted to use for financing would only give me 2500. Which is obviously not going to cover it. I do have a jeweler I use regularly for other watches I have bought (breitling,Tag, Rolex) and have $8k available with them. BUT they don't carry panerai. I am not allowed to open a new line of credit. I have been kicking around the idea of buying a new Rolex (1 yr interest free) on my 8k line, never taking it out of the box and turning around and selling it for maybe a small loss. Taking that cash and buying the PAM I want. What do you guys think? Is this crazy? I have wanted a GEN PAM for so long. I am sooooo close.

    Thanks

    Luke

    Yes it is crazy.

  2. There is spyware on the site. My microsoft defender cleaned out some download that was attempting to execute off his site and google always warns about accepting a download when i ignore the initial warning.

  3. The guy is still avoiding my emails. Last time he replied was 9 days ago when he sent me a pic of an IWC regulateur with blue hour markers he sourced for my order and since then he has been avoiding my emails. This is really horrible customer service.

  4. So today, still no answer. So I tried with a new mail-address, pretending that Im someone else asking if he has ha watch in stock. He answers me within a few hours.

This guy can not be trusted. He doesn't answer me even if he has my money and I know that he has the watch I is suppose to send me (he has send me pictures of it). Will never make business with him again

Looks like this will be my last order with the guy. Still not responding to my emails too.

  5. Same experience with him, he is very quick to respond on new orders and ignores your mails after payment has been sent. He eventually sends the watches but the shopping experience is terrible. I am currently waiting on him for an IWC and he hasn't responded for the past couple of days.

  6. That one is more accurate to be honest. If you want the blue hands, then you need to have blue hour markers to go with it. Movement is going to be way off, but it can be modified as mine was. It involves a transplant of bridge parts from the FA Jones rep. See the links in the top post for more info :D

Hmmm where can I get the transplant done in CONUS <_<

  7. 1. I already have 2 gens and that is enough money invested in switzerland

    2. I am frugal and I have a family to raise :thumbsupsmileyanim:

    3. A friend bought a gen montblanc that crapped out on him and it is taking forever for montblanc to fix it. Whats the point?

    4. I can stretch that $2K and get a lot of watches I like and I don't suffer from rep OCD. Once its close to a super rep then I am good, the only mod I do is a strap change if its leather. Not too big on my watches glowing in the dark as I hardly check my wrist to tell time, that is the job of my $200 cellphone :good:

    5. Did I say I was frugal and I love watches:rofl:

  8. I cant believe he has the solid brass balls to charge $150 extra for Asia clone ETA over the Asian 21j ... seriously. WTF.

    DG4813 = $35

    Clone ETA = $70 ??

    That's a 35 difference, not 150.

But of course, every dealer has the right to ask whatever they wish for a watch.

It was the price difference that really got me thinking how bad can the 4813 really be? I guess I now know better

  9. If It were me I would go with the cheeper 4813. The watch Is exactly the same as the Asian ETA version and some of these Asian movements can run well for some time. If the movement takes a dump on you later down the road you can do like Jkay and purchase a ETA for a little over $100.00. Thats what I would do,good luck :drinks:

    Eureka!

But I will have to deal with compatibility issues with size of hands etc when considering the swap if the movement does eventually crap out on me

  10. mm I know this is an easy mistake to make but the common Asia 21j comes in the 2813 and the 4813 ... one is low beat and the other is high beat. OK? Your DG4813 is an Asia 21j.

They are copies of the Japanese Miyota 8215 series, just as the Asia ETA clones are copies of the Swiss ETA 2836/2824 series ....

Yes, you are right. A high beat 21J, but they claim the case, strap, and every other thing is the same as the asia ETA clone version.

  11. $140 difference in price from the Asia 21j to an Asian clone ?! A real ETA just set me back $117 SHIPPED from eBay.

There has to be a difference in the quality of the watches. Just looking at a few 02 for sale, I see that the $88 watches are mineral glass, and look really fat and weird. In other words, they are not the same as the ETA examples in this case.

Look more closely at the descriptions or link them here so we know what you are looking at

I am not talking about the 21J versions. I am talking about the 4813 versions

    This one

  12. I just have a simple question for those that have experience with different versions of this watch (I have searched for a while with no useful results).

Is it worth the additional $140 dollars to get the asia ETA clone movement or just stay with the lite DG4813 high beat movement? The collectors both claim to use the same case for both versions of the watch and I would really like to know how reliable the lite version if for people that own the watch. I have read about dg4813 in general from a thread where it was being swapped into a Rolex but the movement is not really discussed that often.

    Thanks

  13. I love Bob straps, they strat off a bit hard to break in but are very good quality and very hard wearing

Saw the buffalo one on ebay and I fell in love. I researched better offerings but I want to start out with on affordable route. This looks like a good hobby after getting out of collecting fragrances :D , already purchased strap changing tool to avoid scratches on my watches and I am contemplating learning how to mod if the Mrs allows.

  14. Hello everyone.

I would first like to thank the great people on this site. Wow is all I can say!

This is an eye opening experience for me and its just because of the nice people that are willing to share info and time. Since joining I have pulled the trigger on three superb reps: Montblanc timewalker, Baume and mercier riviera and Cartier ballon de bleu and they've been great buys so far. A friend of mine that purchased a gen montblanc sport chrono is banging his head on the wall for spending $3K on a gen watch that only has 13 hours of power reserve and the AD is giving him an ETA of 8 weeks to have it fixed. Talk about a 'great' service.

Now to the topic at hand. I have read through almost all the brand forums and Panerai is still the one that baffles me the most! The watches looks so simple but the features that you guys discuss is confusing as hell! From canon pinion to engraved bridges to CG to crown etc etc Damn complicated stuff

Anyways I would like to pull the trigger on my first PAM and I have narrowed it down to a PAM111H, all I need is just advise on which is better out of the box. I wouldn't be doing any modding apart from changing the awful rep strap as I am not to bothered with little details but I still like a good looking watch with minor issues. So help me in selecting the better of the two options below:

ULTIMATE VERSION PAM 111H from trevortime

    http://www.trevortime.info/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=2037

    Or

    Cheaper offering from Sead

    pam 111h

    sapphire crystal

    regular cartel dial with superlume

    tall cp

    asian 6497 movement

    mycrown and cg

    240 shipped

    Thanks
