  1. Yep, that's the watch, however there are different hands on mine. As I said, he put on the pointy Rolex hands like on his 3646 Marina Militare. Davidsen sent me those pictures until he realized the hands I wanted. JP
  2. Just got Davidsens Rolex dialed 6154 and I love it. This all started when I asked Enzo about a picture of a Rolex dialed 6154 that he had posted about the Anti-Panerai 6154. My original plan was to buy a 6154 from Davidsen and then have a custom Rolex dial made from the picture that Enzo supplied. But then Enzo said that Davidsen was working on the dial himself. To make a long story short, I contacted Davidsen and he confirmed what he was working on and sent me various pictures of the dial in differing stages of completion with differant hand configurations over the course of several weeks. I opted for the Rolex style pointy hands that Davidsen puts on his Marina Militare dialed 3646. Well, I just got it today and it matches Enzo's picture extremely well. It came with a exhibition back and a solid case back with the requsite engraving inside. It has the gilt chapter ring, indeces surrounds and printing on the dial with the words: ROLEX OYSTER PRECISION just under the twelve O' clock marker. The dial lay out is that of a vintage Submariner but with slightly larger indeces. The color of the indeces themselves are orange and closely match the picture that Enzo provided. My wife thinks it is a handsome watch and likes it very much. The only thing that I would change is the color of the luminous. Having a couple of gen vintage Submariners, I know that the luminous has a tendancy to become a puffy sort of yellow and that is what I will eventually have done to mine. Davidsen, however, should not be faulted for this because he accurately matched the picture provided by Enzo. It should be noted also that I got the prototype watch too. In the end, I do love this watch and I'm sure it will garner lots of questions although it's a lot more low key than than the typical Panerai 12, 3, 6, 9 dial layout. Ive coupled mine with an Arron Tan distressed railroad car seat leather strap, the 26/26 version. I may have to go with the 26/24 version to add to the subtlety. In terms of why the 6154 was originally created, well Enzo and others are the experts on that, but from what I understand, the Egyptian navy ordered them with the normal Panerai dial, but was unhappy with them. The cases that were purchased from Rolex went back to Rolex. Rolex then put thier own dials on them and sold them to the public. As for pictures, go to Davidsen's Photobucket. It's on there under "Vintage Project Watches". JP

  4. Yes very nice watch indeed. "Me like very much" said the caveman. JP
  5. Just got my Davidsen 6152-1 yesterday (Saturday). Apparently it was sent last Sunday my time. It took seven days in total. I can't say enough good things about this watch. I like it better than my gen RXW in many ways. In fact, I promptly took my Germano natural calfskin strap off my RXW and put it on my Davidsen. The crown guard latch is much more secure on my Davidsen than on my gen RXW. Very solid indeed. The nicely aged luminous, serial number & model number engravings, crown guard engraving (BREV. ITAL. 2), and high plexiglas all add to the vintage look of the watch. The buckle with the engraved "GPF-Mod Dep" is a nice added touch. There are always things that can be done to make it more accurate, such as a pitched cut to the top inside portion of the crown guard, however to me such quibbles are small things and do not detract from the overall look of the watch. A file propperly applied can fix it if you care to. I'll leave mine as is for now. Bravo Davidsen, it's an awesome piece of history re-created that I can wear on my wrist every day, and I intend to. JP
  6. I don't care how big it is, I want one. Besides, as has been said, that picture is with a particularly scrawny arm. If it's a womans arm then o.k., but if it's a man, he'd better get to the gym ASAP. JP
  7. I think Davidsen could do it. Look at all his parts. Maybe he could do a small run based on interest.
  8. Well, I meant a real Rolex movement, but that would be nice to have in the one I just ordered. JP
  9. Yeah, I've been wanting to build a Marina Militare with the old style dial and gold hands for some time. I was about to buy some of the parts from Davidsen and then bamm, his rendition of the 6152-1. Sweet, way better than I could have done, especially with the high domed plexigless. May have to go back and get another kit and source a rolex movement for the ultimate 6152-1. JP
  10. This watch is in the October 2006 issue of InSync magazine. The article is about aluminium watches in general and begins on page 122 with the picture of the Radiomir on page 124. Apparently, some of these watches made for the Egyptian Navy and other navies in the Mediterranean were made out of aluminium. According to the article the diameter is 60mm, and thickness is 19mm thick. I'd love to see one of these monsters made. With an aluminium case they would be very light. JP
  11. Well, I don't know about that. The Breitling Chrono Avenger rep has recently caught my eye. So many watches, so little money!
  12. I know what you mean. I've browsed this forum for a few days now, and between The Zigmeister and his upgrades, Davidsen and his parts and watches, and the other dealers, I know I'm in for a lot of sweet trouble on the wallet. I'm like a greedy fat kid in a candy store. Where do I begin to chow down? JP
  13. Hello, I first got a genuine RXW MM20 and then got hooked on the P****** style of big watches. Then I saw the watch-honpo Pam 187 and I just had to get that monster. Now I think I want a relume on the 187 by The Zigmeister because of the work that he performed on a forum members 187. I recently asked Ken if the 7753 187 was on it's way and he said yes. I hope that happens real soon. Anyway, I'm a watch nut both gen and rep. This is one cool forum! JP
