  1. I'd just like to bump this thread. I recently purchased a replica Tag Heur with a new Asian 7750 which I have been using as my daily beater, in the past few days it has stopped working. I'd really like to get this watch repaired and serviced but I am based in the UK and I am reluctant to send it to the US for doing. I'd really appreciate recommendations for anyone in the UK who is willing to work on replicas of this type?

    Many thanks,

    James

  2. Many thanks guys - I appreciate your response. A few specific comments:

Flav - The nylon strap looks great, really gives a different, more modern feel to the watch. This is on my list.

Bignasty - This looks an excellent strap for this watch - and very comfortable too. Another one on my list.

Pugwash - I really like your Toscana strap, but it is a little too expensive for my pocket.

    Thanks again,

    James

  3. I'd like to replace the bog standard strap that came with my fiddy. I'd appreciate it if other members could post photos of their fiddy-strap combinations, please also include details of where the straps were sourced from.

    Many thanks,

    JSW

  4. Thanks for the comparison. Can you point me in the direction of ByTor's post where he described bending the U bend?

    Thanks,

    JSW

Engraving is correct on 42.5mm PO. Anyway, U can use a pliers to slightly bend the clasp as ByTor described. Here is the genuine clasp (90USD from ofrei, bracelet number 952) vs 4th gen rep clasp. The genuine will fit like charm as you can see from the picture.

  5. Thanks guys. I'll have a word with Andrew. I can see that bending the U shape might fix the problem, but I'm not sure exactly how to do this considering how strong the metal is and I'd be nervous about breaking the clasp.

  6. I've just received a PO 42.5mm from Andrew. It is an outstanding watch and many of the mentioned flaws (misaligned HE valve) are not that obvious to me. One problem I do have is that there is a large gap between the clasp (closest to the engraving) and the bracelet. I'm curious to know if this is gap that is often mentioned when taking about the watch, I always thought that this was where the bracelet attached to the watch.

Will a genuine bracelet fit this watch? If so where is a good place to buy the whole assembly including the clasp?

  7. Yep I agree that the 4th gen is a great piece in its own right, I plan on changing it to rubber also..... as soon as the bugga's make a strap that will fit!

Me three. Is there any news on the availability of rep straps for the 4th gen PO?

  8. I would like to acknowledge all participants in the Tag Heuer Carrera Chrono Group Buy their support to make this an trouble less transaction. Everybody paid on time, there were so respectful relationship that it worth the effort to coordinate it and give me back much more than I expected, specially because I think I've made more friends than I had before. Thanks all of you for making this exercise an enjoyment for me.

Regarding King, I only can say that honestly I didn't expect so much help and collaboration from her side. Surely 18 buying orders are nothing special for any of our dealers and she took this like she was receiving a hundred. Having avoided drop shipment to ensure we receive our watches in safe conditions says a lot about her.

I wish all of receive our watches in "health" conditions and we enjoy them. This is my first time buying an Asian 7750 and I'm curious about the way thy work.

Thanks to all of you and see you in a next Group Buy (but now it's one of you to take the lead)!

vmena - I'd just like to say many thanks to you. This is my first participation in a group buy, and the whole thing was totally pain free because of your careful management. It is also my first purchase of any Asian movement, so I'm also curious to how well it works.

    Thanks again,

    JSW

  9. Thanks Chieftang. I didn't know that Finepics was based in the UK, but I know that he recently made a retirement post, so that discounts him to a large extent. I'm just looking for regular serving of 'swss' ETA regular movements - 2836/2824/6497.

  10. Hi The Zigmeister,

I've read a host of informative material you've put out. I really appreciate the effort you make, it enables newbies like myself to avoid making big mistakes. I have a question that has been bugging me for some time, and I can't really find any information using the forum's "search" button, if there is info on my quesion available then please point me in the right direction.

I have always bought Swiss ETA movement replicas since it was my understanding that this is probably the best chance of getting a robust movement that will stand the test of time (if appropriately serviced). Now I just assumed that all my movements were made by a company called ETA and dropped into the replica watch. However, when I was getting a bracelet resized the jeweller was very skeptical about this being the case, he said "why would they put a good ETA movement in a piece of crap like that?!". So this triggered a thought process, around the question - are Swiss ETA movements in replicas really "Swiss ETA movements"? Could it be the cae that these are simply very well made clones, I guess I'm trying to understand what evidence is there that this is the case. After all, there must be hundreds of thousands of replica watches sold as having Swiss ETA movements, does ETA really have the bandwidth to supply this type of market? Is ETA not concerned that there brand is being devalued by supplying the replica market .... Lots of question but most funamentally - are Swiss ETA movements in replicas really "Swiss ETA movements"?

I'd really appreciate any insight you can offer on this,

    Many thanks,

    JSW

  11. The holes are probably to far back in the end links, if you use a drill bit to file them deeper it should help.

I appreciate your suggestion. However I'd like to understand whether this is a common problem - and/or something that I should accept? When I placed the order, I didn't anticipate having to put so much effort and further money into making this watch wearable. The original bracelet suffers the same alignment problem as the replacement, so it is not as if this is a problem is with a mismatch between the replacement part.

    James

  12. Silix have sent a new bracelet to replace the one with the stuck link pins (although I had to buy a new watch to get free p&p on this). I've taken this to the watch maker and he cannot easily get the new bracelet on to the watch (although he is still trying and saying not so nice things about the watch). It seems that the holes for the springbar on the end link are not aligned with the holes in the case. This was also the case on the original bracelet and the ends of the springbar were bent so that they could connect. Is this usually the case with the SMP? I must say I'm getting very frustrated by all this.

    JSW

  13. I had exactly the same problem on my Omega SMP.

The fix was easy... dismantle the clasp, then gently ream out the offending hole with a round file. Takes a few minutes only.

You need a bracelet pin-pusher.. my cheapo version from Narikaa did the job without drama. Just remove one pin and the clasp can be dismantled. It was an easier job than I anticipated... and I have five thumbs on each hand.

Sorry about the poor quality of this photo:

Many thanks highflying clive. I opened it up and sprayed a bit of WD40, that seems to have done the trick nicely.

I've now noticed another problem. I don't seem to be able to screw in the crown, it arrived unscrewed. The crown operates as expected with first click date, second click time. But when I try and screw the crown onto the thread, it stops after the first turn. Has anyone else hit this issue?

    Thanks,

    James
