  1. Wow Marty, congrats!
  2. I just don't understand why they cannot make a decent pearl. They have responded to other defects and made better reps in turn, but the pearls all still look horrible. Watchmaterial pearls are almost there..... and I am sure those are made in an Asian country. How hard would it be for them to hook up and at least use those?
  3. I have the same dial from Ingod being put in the same case as Ronin's. Too bad about the missing paint, but I'm sure it will be an easy fix. Ronin..that watch is really nice!
  4. Congrats! Look forward to a pictorial on this one!
  5. I understand TeeJay and your right, I'm sure that does happen. I used to work in dealerships in the 80's and car salesman often wore fake watches.. even fake Varnet sunglasses! I guess that's how I got my opinion.
  6. Personally I probably make my judgements based on age or profession, but I usually don't give it much of a thought when I see someone wearing a gen. If I did.. it only would be that, for instance I see a 22 yr old climb out of 90's economy car wearing DSSD, my thoughts are going to be rep. Profession wise.. car salesmen, gamblers, dealers etc..I will be thinking possibly reps. Other than that..I agree with Ronin, the majority that are out there that I see are genuine. Until I found the rep community a couple years ago (I lurked awhile before I joined the forums) when I thought of a fake watch, it meant canal street Rolex to me. I had no idea the level of reproduction that was going on. I have been into reproductions of things for a very long time, and when I found this community I felt right at home.

  8. Very nice writeup TeeJay, Inspired me enough that I think I might have one built... or even just order one.
  9. Awesome Z! lol Ephry, I've never heard of anyone solving the crystal problem. The fact the gen dial fits leads me to think it would be at least possible to machine the rehaut to fit a gen crystal.
  10. Isn't there a By-Tor review of this watch? So far no luck finding it.
  11. That sounds like a good plan Ephry, can't wait to see what you come up with!
  12. I'm not aware of any good 14060 reps from dealers out there. This is mine, it was an older Swiss noob that got changed into a 14060. Gen crown/Clark tube, cyclops removed, lug holes drilled and a 14060 rep dial. Since I had moved onto vintage Rolex, and have a better 16610, the noob got no wear. All work done by our own Jmb.
  13. Yeah! That was in my near future, I've been stalking eBay for weeks pricing donors.
  14. I bought both mine off vintage rolex market. About two months apart. Always cheaper there than eBay for vintage rolex parts.
  15. Yep.....I just asked Siri ...got 42
  16. That's a great movie
  17. Wow! That's an unusually cool pic M!..see'in the blue and the hands patina I might have to talk to chi about my new 5512 dial. Back to the Tudor for me today
  18. I have noticed this phenomenon in other hobbies, it's not just watch modders. The same thing happens with guitars and amp builders/repairman, guns etc. A very talented guy comes along with a service or product and gains popularity, and then gets overwhelmed or has personal problems... and then just disappears.
  19. I had one a couple months ago, and after a few days I pm'd him to ask why he did that. I never got an answer to my question, but he seemed like a nice guy. He said he was going to start posting and get involved..but he never posted in the forums at all.. and then he disappeared after a couple weeks. Sure made me curious..like you are
  20. Awesome Z! The dial looks pretty natural to me. You need a gen bracelet to complete that beauty! 19mm gen Rolex bracelets are the least expensive of all..I have a gen rivet and a folded that were both around 200$ If you go that direction, make sure the bracelet you buy has solid endlinks. If you have to replace any parts..then not so cheap.
  21. Congrats on your new pack of watches! Nice DJ too
  22. Neat! It looks good on you! I want to get one of the old style "fat strap" like Newman wore and John Meyer is currently wearing. Does anyone know where to get those?
