  1. Well, the case back is wrong for a 114, I believe. However, there's no correct caseback out there that I'm aware of. The crown looks pretty decent. Is the canon pin flattened and polished? If not, do so. Then add one of V's new crown guards and you're all set, IMO. Nice watch. I've got one that I turned into a 010D.
  2. 1. PT says that it has Swiss Unitas 6497 movement in it, I've read that this is good, can someone confirm - how long can I expect the watch to work for? -- I would expect that with proper care, this movement would outlive you. Seriously. 2. How often should I need to service it, where can this be done? I guess there are some people on here that do it? -- Almost ANY watchmaker can service a Swiss 6497. They are pretty simple movements when compared to most others. The bigger issue is usually finding someone you trust to work on reps. Yes, there are people on this board that will do it, as well. 3. I hear a lot about modifications - are there some that I should definitely have done - are these aethetics, or to make the watch function better? I don't want to spend
  3. Seeing as the "Seventeen 17 Jewels Swiss" is the same font and color as the "Hamilton" engraving, I'd bet it was part of Hamilton's decoration specs.
  4. That movement was from a batch that vaccum got of NOS Hamilton 6497s. It's got Cotes de Geneve striping and "Hamilton" and some other text engraved on the bridges. Polished and beveled winding gears, etc. They are beautiful movements.
  5. I have to agree with tootall on this one, I love the moroccan sunset with the blue stitch. tootall, have you ever done one of your blue steel straps with blue stitch? I think the color of the blue steel hide would look really good against a Ti case......
  6. I thought someone posted earlier in this thread that Jimmy just handed the gen parts over to the machine shop and they created the drawings, etc.? Thus, Jimmy doesn't have the drawings, they are property of the production house. Maybe I'm misrembering, though...
  7. J, you're in Concord? I'm in Charlotte. Lyndonville is in CLT, too and we have a couple of guys just down in SC. We need to arrange a Carolinas GTG!!!
  8. I would choose the 112, personally.
  9. Since the 40mm PAMs are discontinued, you might have a tough time sourcing a sapphire crystal. *IF* you do manage to find one, you'll have to have the cyclops removed. Good luck!
  10. It's hard to tell about the coloring from the pics. They might be a bit too yellow... Hard to beat the price....
  11. You can check with Trustytime, but he's probably out of stock too. The last I knew, PureTime was still selling his 001B... http://www.puretimewatch.com/index.php?productID=221
  12. Me, too, D. That's why I wasted no time in snagging this one from babola when he said he was going to sell it.
  13. Not to threadjack, Kruz, but one of my CGs from V is going on my Zero rep:
  14. A modded DSN 203/A dial? The 12 and 3 are spot on, with the seconds at 9 that really only leaves the 6 as a flaw....
  15. Except for the 082 which has a black seconds hand.
  16. Well, Pre-A through D series would be a 010, not a 114, but it's the same white base dial and polished SS case. I'm 100% certain that dial is gen and OP6520 is what a 010 should be. I think this is just a case of the guy not wanting to drop $1K+ on an OEM bracelet.
  17. That's a bit harsh, Corgi. I've got 2 gen PAMs, and I assure you, I am FAR from rich. I agree, that it's tough to feel sorry for someone who got that drunk and brought this situation on themselves, but I don't take any pleasure in hearing that story, either.
  18. Get a new crystal from DSN and have a local watchsmith to have it installed.
  19. I think it's a great match for the Logo, tutima. What are the details on that beauty?
  20. Bruce, can you post a profile shot like this one from Richard: The old cases used thicker bezels with a double radius on the edge. You can see it really well where the crown is reflecting on the edge of the bezel. The newer/more incorrect bezels are thinner at the outer edge and lack the double radius....
  21. Yep, looks like the old case to me. The bezel engravings should be filled with black paint, however.
  22. Rumor has it that particular new rep is coming soon, Jay. I won't hold my breath, but it is just a matter of time. If the movement proves to be less of a timebomb than the seconds at 6 A7750, I'll be all over an MBW EOD with seconds at 12.
  23. The OP logo is completely different. Cases are different, crowns are different, CGs are different. Each one has their flaws. With DSN's recent (and not so recent) QC issues, it's a tough choice.
