  1. And THAT is why fashion houses like Gucci, Chanel, Vuitton, et al should stay away from commissioning watches! What a travesty...
  2. My wife has the Explorer I rep and loves it. She's also got a PAM048 that she adores (thinking of picking up a gen 048 for her). Either of those choices would be great, IMO. Sorry, no pics of the 048...
  3. According to babola's post on RWI, they are indeed different.
  4. He also has a blog: http://davidsen-dsn.blogspot.com/ On the subject of cases, DSN now uses a mixed bag of "his" cases and standard rep cases. My 010D uses a standard rep case.....
  5. Prototype Savage strap. Sadly, he can't get this hide any longer. I think there are 2 other straps made from this leather out there somewhere... Tootall Blue Steel I don't know how "unusual" this is, but it's something that I don't see "in the wild" too often. Which is a shame, as it's a wonderful strap. Mario Paci Private Stock in cognac Toscana Fiero
  6. Hey, cool! Another reason to like Billy!
  7. It's a nice suggestion for a project, but I wouldn't "waste" these parts on a watch that is just an homage, anyway. If you're building an homage, why do you care how accurate the case parts are? There is no gen to live up to. I'd go with the 104, if you're OK with an auto. That way you could leave the CG polished. Source a 104 caseback (series will be wrong for the CG style, but whatever), 104 dial, Swiss 7750 and hands. Job done.
  8. OT -- Nice EvoIV, ImportR! Is it yours? Those Racing Hart wheels? Now, back to watches...
  9. I hope so, too. I don't know if the 2893 will fit the 2836 movm't holder for certain, though. Crossing my fingers!
  10. I was editing my post as you quoted me, since I didn't notice the roller tip CG lever at first. Since the roller tip will give it away as not belonging to a G series watch anyway, you could just leave it polished. Seems I was just reading a post on one of the gen forums where I guy had his brushed CG polished up because he preferred how the polished CG looked. I have to agree with him, actually. I like the polished CG on my 010D rep.
  11. 111G. Brush finish the CG and you're all set. That would be the most accurate option, IMO. Although, it looks like you've got the "roller tip" on your CG. In that case, you could just leave it and tell anyone who asks that you swapped it for the newer style CG specifically for the roller tip lever...
  12. That settles that, then. Thanks, Kruz! Again, cracking looking watch, my friend.
  13. Put it in a Ziplock bag full of spare change and give it a few good shakes?
  14. Hmmm, I'm really kicking around a similar project, Kruz. Minus the Jimmy CG, of course. Who polished the bezel or did you do it yourself? It looks fantastic!
  15. Looks great, kruz! What a great project! You need to have someone sew a nice vintage-y or ammo strap on there for you.
  16. I think The Mentalist addressed your concerns above, musicale. I have no idea if it's true, as I've never owned a bespoke suit, either. I see no reason for The Mentalist to mislead anyone, however.
  17. I traded a couple of PMs with the Mentalist yesterday. I can honestly say that he helped to open my eyes. If I wore suits more often, I'd pop down to the Row and see him, but I can't justify the cost with how seldom I wear suits. I may very well go see him for some bespoke shirts, though, as I wear button-down shirts nearly every workday. I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem to have him ship them back to the States for me after I leave on Friday. I mean it's pretty easy to spend $75-80 for off the rack dress shirts, why not add another $25 or so to get something made for YOUR BODY specifically with all it's quirks? Thanks to cornerstone for splitting this off, as I'd like to see this discussion continue!
  18. Yep, pretty much, TeeJay. My HBB is big enough and it's actually quite nice, I'm just not convinced it's "me". Other than that, it's all PAMs....
  19. I'm sure that vac would sell you just a dial...
  20. Welcome! We're glad you found a good board before someone scammed you out of your cash!
  21. Honestly, I wouldn't waste the time and money sending that out to be modded. The dial printing is off, you said youself the case seems odd, the crown and CG are nothing to write home about, either. Wear that watch for what it is. If you find that you like the 113 enough to get a more accurate one, then do so and mod that one. Nothing wrong with having a starter watch, but there's no need to throw money at it when it will never be very accurate.
  22. This looks plenty dressy to me: $178 for the A6497 powered one from Joshua. Not bad....
