I've got a real soft spot for these. Love that clasp!

The hinged rear pieces of the clasp are thinner than the same sections on my gen oyster bracelet. I'm guessing these got bent at some point or were fabricated incorrectly resulting in an incorrect curvature which in turn has altered the effective length which is turn (take a breath) has effected the friction clip that holds the clasp closed. A simple problem but once bent into the correct shape those hinged pieces will never regain their original strength which may result in your beautiful vintage piece dropping from your wrist. Not worth the risk IMO. It's going back and I'll save a few more bucks for a gen

I thinned out pretty bad in my early 20s. I used to worry about it and tried a bunch of different concoctions and hair cuts. I eventually realised that the only person who really cared about it was me so I settled on a close cropped (not shaved) hair cut and ran with it. As long as your cut doesn't make it look like you're trying to conceal thinning you'll be fine. Women just don't really care about that stuff as much as we think they do. If you're fit and confident you'll get allot further than fat and shitting yourself that she'll see notice your hair in a can spray job

PeteM - I was just saying over at RG that I like to avoid using more expensive parts when possible. I don't mean using mineral glass or anything crap like that, but it's the subtleties that push the price of these up, up and over the top

Hi Gents

A while ago I did a beautiful 3646 build for a guy off WC which was based on one of b-uhrs (HF) excellent reference pics. I loved it so much I really didn't want to let it go! So when I decided I wanted to make myself a budget 6152 my first stop was b-uhrs thread and I found the following MM build. Something about the way the dial and hands worked together really grabbed me.

I'm really, really happy with how it came out. I think it looks like a no compromise legit vintage but at a budget price It's actually taken me weeks to get the lume colour perfect for the dial using vitrail and then I mixed a different shade for the hands to keep it balanced. I corroded the hands by using pompes (HF) excellent egg tutorial and then applying some artists charcoal to reproduce the carbon marks in the lume. I liked the dial from the start and I thought the hands looked pretty good. Together they looked nice. In a build they look gob smacking! It's moments like these that make the process worthwhile.

All up I'd say there's probably 4 to 5 hours work in every watch. I had a mate do the dial on this one which saves alot of time

Below it looks as though he's ramped it ever so slightly rather than just gap filling but you're seriously splitting hairs. This is very nice work

They mostly run A6497 movements which seems to be pretty reliable. Best thing is the knowledge that if it fails in 5 years time you can put in another for less than $50
