I put my partner's Rolex Date in an Omega box just to fuck with him.  (He said he'd liked the date, so I of course wanted to mess with him a little).  He was happily surprised when he opened the box to find the Rolex.

I have a CW21 certified watch maker in town who is incredibly busy and works on a ton of watches. He has a lot of accounts with jewelers in town, so he's constantly working. I agree with you, though, that they want to share their passion. We talk movements and brands for an hour sometimes. And while he quotes 90 days to a shop and charges a ton, my watches are generally done in two weeks and quite reasonably...

I feel the same way about the two 3 series my partner and I have. I primarily drive the e46 and he the e90. I think the e46 is a far superior car with much less expensive repairs. A water pump on the e46 is $400 at the shop (but I do it myself bc it's so easy). The e90's just went (classic BMW issue), but it's electronic and cost us a little over $1400! Advancing in technology or regressing?

And not to mention, the e46 is 10 times more fun to drive.
