  1. 1. The rolster clasp was added to the jubilee bracelet around 2006 2. Ebay is a good source for a genuine clasp. Replica dealers still have these bracelets but, I doubt if they will sell the clasp alone. I don't think that a SS jubilee lady's replica bracelet is expensive. 3. Production of engraved rehaut began about 2005-2006 4. I am not very familar with lady's datejust models. However, it looks good to my uneducated eye. 5. Your only chance to obtain a new crystal with etched crown will be from the collector who sold you the watch. The etched crown is very small and you will propably need a loupe to see it.
  2. Jay, I understand bitter. I had a similar experience with a "respected dealer" a couple of years ago that didn't turn out too well. It took me a while to put it behind me and realize that all isn't good and fair in the world of reps. I still have the "tainted" watch to remind me of that time. I've learned to expect some problems now and again and to be prepared to deal with them if I can. Sending a watch back to China is a PITA and it may be returned with more problems than it originally had. It would be a great thing if the collectors could QC every watch that passes through but that isn't realistic. QC should be performed by the makers but as I understand it, rep making is pretty much a cottage style industry that can be pulled up and moved quickly if necessary. I think that there are a few collectors who actually QC watches before shipping. However, I think many are drop shipped and the collector never sees them.
  3. Where did you get the idea that we have the power to have a positive effect on replica Q.C.? We as buyers on this forum are but a small part of the entire replica purchasing pool. If we should quit buying (which most will not) the impact on the makers will be minimal as the number of new buyers increases daily. Scoobs as well as others (myself included), have realized that learning basic watch repair is a necessary part of this hobby. Most flaws with replicas can be handled with a bit of patience and know how that is shared with forum members. I find that being able to make repairs and modifications to my watches has enhanced my enjoyment of the hobby. I am certain that there are others who expect perfection and would like the replicas to come with a warranty but, I'm afraid that will never happen. The reality is that these are replica watches that are made and assembled by local Chinese labor, generally in less than ideal conditions unlike their Swiss counterparts. You pay your money and you take your chances is the way of life in the world of replicas and it is highly unlikely to change. Buying from respected dealers and establishing a good business relationship with them is essential to getting good service and good watches.
  4. I purchased a Rolex gold buckle from him a while ago and it was genuine and in great condition. I can't speak for the dials but from my experience, I would have to say that he is legitimate.
  5. I would be helpful if we knew what type of watch you plan to install this movement into. The "cut" hands that you see in the Borel listing are custom drilled to your requested hand sizes and the lengths are per your requirements for you watch dial. These are generally available for dress watches rather than sport models.
  6. By crown dots @ 6, I assume that you are referring to the etched dotted coronet (crown) located on the crystal below the 6 o'clock hour marker. If this is the case, there should be one there although it might be too small to see without a jeweler's loupe.
  7. I don't think that I would use the green insert on that watch. You can pick up a new black insert for little money on Ebay and keep the watch looking the way it was intended to be.
  8. Exactly Andy. That is why they are called clones because they are an exact copy of the genuine ETA . I think that some of the posters are confusing the ETA clone with the DG2813 movements found in the Noob as well as others.
  9. Rolex never produced any watches with dispaly backs on them. This is purely and aftermarket item that is often found on cheap fake rolex watches. I would suggest that you avoid this product.
  10. As I recall The Zigmeister did a report on these movements a while ago. The 2836-2 clone was so close to the genuine that unless you knew the little details to look for, it was all but impossible to distinguish it from the genuine. Unless my memory has failed me, The Zigmeister stated that the parts were interchangeable with the genuine ETA 2836. I have one that came in a Sub that I believe is a clone. It has performed perfectly for the past 6 months or so. I think that many people mistakenly confuse the Asian 21J movements with the ETA clones when in fact, they are not similar.
  11. You are right in that it doesn't pass the six foot inspection but it does have an automatic movement which should eliminate the "tick-tock" of the cheap quartz models. If you take a file to the crown guards and change the crown, it might make a passing grade at six feet if you can hide that dial a bit. Regardless, I doubt if you will find many takers for the watch on this forum. BTW, the back shot shows a model 16233 on the green sticker. That would make the watch a TT Datejust model, wouldn't it?
  12. Not all Floridians have the refinement and good taste of RWG members. They not only come in chrome but brass as well as natural skin colors for those seeking the most acurate replicas
  13. MBW=Maria's best watch, a high quality replica. Maria is no longer selling watches. MBK=Shopping Center in Bangkok that has the shop/stall that sells this high quality replica. Forget the MBW/MBK watches. They are expensive and require skills or a lot of money to modify to be very close to the genuine. As others have told you, BKLM is your best source for a very close to genuine "NOOB" replica. He can source the base watch for you as well as expertly make the changes it needs to be close to perfection.
  14. All replicas have some flaws and the best ones aren't always the expensive ones. The Ultimate or Perfect ones are more marketing than reality. Look in the watch review section and see By Tor's watch review of the Noobmariner. It is an inexpensive replica that has most of the right stuff and can be had with either the Asian or the ETA movement. Since you are in EU, you might contact Narikaa or other UK dealers who can provide you with the "Noob" and avoid customs issues.
  15. Depends on what you are talking about. Use the first one to refer to someone who is deployed on a submarine. Use the second one to refer to the watch made by Rolex.
  16. What sort of problems are you having with the chronograph? Some of the resident experts might be able to resolve the problem.
  17. I purchased this same item form this seller several weeks ago. I did not get the 24-603 crown but a 24-600 crown. As you stated the crown threads are too large for the old style tube. I attempted to change the tube to the 6mm size but the threads are too large for the case. I returned the crown to Jewelers Tools (David) and requested the correct crown. I even sent a tube to explain the problem. I received a 5.3 mm crown for a lady's watch which will fit the tube but is too small in diameter for the men's watch. I returned the crown again and a week later I received my parcel marked "Return to sender, occupant moved". I contacted the seller to confirm the address and he stated that he had not moved but he was enjoying his swimming pool and is there anything else that he could help me with It sounds as if Chifetang may have received the 24-600 crown that I previously sent back. I hope that he has more sucess in getting his 24-603 from this seller than I did. Although I have had several good transactions with this seller in the past, I will think twice before buying agian.
  18. I don't understand how Rolex could have any authority over a private watch repair shop. Granted, if it is an authorized Rolex shop they could pull the franchise but, a private repair shop could care less what Rolex or any other maker thinks about the watches it accepts for repair. As long as the shop isn't an AD and doesn't sell replicas, I would think that it would be safe from the legal arm of Rolex.
  19. You are being milked! The fact that he keeps asking if you still wanted the watch indicates that he is trying to heighten your anticipation of getting it. If he concludes that you are sufficiently excited, he then pulls the price switch thinking that you will complete the deal since it has gone as far as it has. I hope that you declined to pay the higher price. If you did, he probably would cave and sell at the agreed price. Be aware that he could be selling you a rep so it is best to complete the transaction at an AD who is willing to verify the authenticity of the watch. Let us know what happened.
  20. A seventeenth century English economist (don't recall the name) stated that democracy can never work for extended periods because eventually the people will make demands that will exceed the government's ability to provide. Seems as if this prophecy is being realized today in the US. US presidential candidates are promising all sorts of entitlements on top of the already burdened taxpayers. People don't seem to realize that someone has to pay for the hand outs to citizens as well as non citizens and when you don't have the funds, you have to borrow. The US will be owned by the middle eastern nations and Asian nations unless the current trends are corrected.
  21. After all is said and done about this. It is obvious that it will be far more simple to have a list of "approved" dealers (which we have) than for a Noob to have to wade through such a long list of names. Besides, these scam sites sprout like weeds and can disappear just as fast making it difficult to keep up to date. Noobs that have located this site will learn in short order that the replica waters are filled with sharks. While I commend FM for his effort to prepare such a list, I'm sure that it has it's place but, I'm not so sure that it is necessary.
  22. Joshua informed me that the new GMT with larger case and "partial" ceramic bezel will be out in May. He also said that it will have the correct GMT hand stack and will set exactly as the gen. However, he did point out that it will be somewhat expensive (more than $400).
  23. That's easy! Just go to the dealer section of this forum. You will find a list of dealers (collectors ) that have proven to be honest and provide members with good service.
  24. For goodness sake, don't use epoxy If you ever need to get back into the movement from the top, the epoxy glued overlay will be impossible to remove and the release for the ETA disc will be covered. Not a good idea! Use Hypo cement. It will hold firmly yet allow you to slide a razor between the two disc to release the overlay and allow access to the movement.
  25. My experience has been that this is a hit and miss proposition. The best advice that I can offer is to clean the back of the date overlay and the ETA date disc as best you can. Rotate the crown to click a new date into position then, push the crown fully in. This will insure that the date is in the proper position. Use a glue such as Hypo that will give you time to adjust before it sets. Use six or eight small dots of glue around the back of the overlay. Notice the date that is directly opposite the actual date on the ETA wheel. Carefully set the overlay aligning it with the two dates and making sure that the disc is centered over the ETA wheel. Drop your dial over the overlay to check for alignment. If it is acceptable, pull the crown to the date setting position and rotate the dates to check that you have it centered properly. If the date isn't centered....start at the beginning again. If anyone has an easy sure fire way to accomplish this, I would love to hear about it.
