Hi folks,

I am beginning to have fun with that guy and his watch. He sent me a picture of the movement. I doubt that OMEGA would put their name 500 times on the rotor. Does anyone know what kind of cheap movement that could be?

He claims that he got this watch from his father who was on a business trip to the US. The funny thing about this guy is that he has some kind of asian name.

And of course I haven't paid for anything yet.

Yep. I bought it. If he/she refuses to let me pick it up myself I just won't buy it. If it turns out to be fake ( which I think it is ) the seller would not dare to report me to Ebay as a "non paying buyer". Like I said before: it was kind of an impulsive buy. Okay, it was a massive impulse

Hi folks,

I am in the need of some help from you OMEGA experts. I bought this off Ebay.

The picture doesn't even show what kind of OMEGA this one is. It was some kind of impulsive buy. I know it can hardly be genuine for that price.

But the heck with it. It is only 60 miles away from where I live so I can pick it up myself and have a closer look at it.

And if it turns out to be a fake one I don't have to buy it.

So what I need now is some hints on how to identify this as a gen or a fake one. Have a look at the dial, pearl, serial number...and what else?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

after searching the net for quite some time I finally found an orange strap for my PO.

It is a HIRSCH strap that originally came with a normal buckle. I put on a deployant Folding Clasp/Buckle from a spare strap.

Alright, dumb newbie question - I had no problems removing a bracelet with a springbar tool but before I pop the leather strap on, how do I go about removing the springbars when the strap is on? There's no hole in the strap like there is for the bracelet. What am I missing here?

Hi,

you just use the spring bar tool to push the strap a little bit to the side and push the tool onto the spring bar. Straps are not that stif.

Okay folks,

I really hesitated to finally ask this rather stupid question, but here it goes:

I want to put on a leather strap on my SMP Chrono but I am just not able to remove the bracelet ( end links ).

When I push the spring bars, in which direction do I have to pull the end link?

To the back of the watch? Or where to? I really tried several times with no luck.

I am looking for a nice orange leather or rubber strap for my 45.5mm PO.

I already bought one off the net but it is rather an orange-brown strap than an orange one. The stores around here only carry this color up to a width of 20mm, but I need 22mm of width.

Any ideas where to get one?

Even though I loved my Chrono from the very first time I received it, there was one

flaw that bothered me: The bracelet is using screws instead of pins.

So I began thinking about how to change from screws to pins.

Here is how I did it and what tools and parts I used.

First of all you need these little pins. Diameter is 1.2mm, the notched part has a diameter of 1.4mm.

I had to shorten the length to 19.7mm

This is how the bracelet looked before modification.

I used a drill diameter 1.2mm to drill the old screw thread.

This would be the side where you wanna install the pins.

Note that this is the side where the notched end of the pins has to be ( the drilled end )

You really have to use some force to install the pins. So I used a brass pin to put the pins

in the right position in order to avoid any damage to the bracelet.

And finally here is how it looks like.

To me it was fun doing it and now this beauty is a bit closer to the gen :-)

I hope my little guide is understandable as I am not a native english speaking person.

Hello everyone,

one side of the clasp of my SMP Chrono always pops out. That means that I only have to push one of the two pushers in order to open it.

I already opened the clasp and found out that the spring inside doesn*t work quite well. Maybe it is twisted so that this little pin is only held by one side.

I have tried to correct it but I wasn't succesful as I was afraid to brake it.

Does anybody know where I can get this little sping or even has a spare one which I could buy?

you did the right thing not to come to Bonn

I do live in Bonn ( about 5 miles away from downtown ), but Cologne is definitely more exciting.

Cologne has a very nice shopping district with losts of different stores, cloths, electronics and not to forget some really nice watch stores like WEMPE.

A MUST is the cathedral. They offer tours in different languages where you get to know some pretty impressive information about the architecture and how they build this cathedral in only 600 years

If you wanna go and see a show or a musical, watch out for "Gaudi Zelt" or for the "Köln Arena".

You could also take a boat trip in the evening on the river Rhein including nice food and a beautiful scenery along the river.

"Früh Kölsch" is also something you might wanna see. It is a big beer brewery, always crowded, where you can enjoy Colognes finest beer along with some little dishes.

One of my favourite places for dinner is the "Mongo's". Look here. It is a mongolian grill. You make your choice between six different sauces and then you have a huge selection of fish, all kinds of meat, vegetables etc. You just put everything you like in a small bowl and have it cooked right in front of you. You can do that as much as you want to. Choose a different sauce, choose different meat....

It is just very relaxing and the selection is just incredible, even for vegetarians.

"Champs" is kind of a sports bar in the middle of downtown. Steaks, burgers and nice deserts along with a couple of tv screens for your entertainment.

And don't miss a visit to one of those little pubs in Cologne. The people in Cologne are extremly friendly and liberal ( no surpeise as it is suppose to be the gay capital of Germany). I bet it won't even take 5 minutes and you find yourself in the middle of a nice conversation.

The zoo in Colonge is also worth a visit.

Cologne has really a lot to offer that you could easily spend a few weeks there. So if there is anything I can do for you, just shoot me a PM.

Hello,

whenever I log on to RWG I use the "View New Posts" feature which is quite comfortable.

But everytime I get a new PM and of course log in in order to read it, it counts as a new log in. So that kinda forces me to read all new posts in order not to miss any.

Is there a way to "disable" that?

these are screws. I also got my SMP Chrono from Trusty. So I am pretty sure we both have the "same" model where the bracelet uses screws instead of oins.

And covering the dial is to stop dust and so on, I take it.

yep, I used tweezers to put the lume back. You need to cover the dial in order to prevent glue dropping on the dial.

Hi,

I think you can do it by yourself. Actually, on my PO the lume of one marker had also fallen off. I just took the movement out and used some ordinary glue to stick it back to its position. It worked perfectly and I don't consider myself as a very skilled person in terms of doing watch repairs.

But be careful and try to cover the dial.

I just got a nice watch winder for Xmas from my girlfriend. So now I do have some questions.

Does anyone know how many turns a 2824-2 movment needs to stay wound?

I also read that the Valjoux 7750 movement winds in only one direction. Am I right?

If so, if I put it on the watch winder is it clockwise or counter clockwise?

How many turns does it need?

even though I am a huge OMEGA fan I don't like all of the models they offer. I am more into the Seamaster models. I guess it is basically the colour which attracts me most. The blue is just fantastic. About a year ago I bought a gen SMP Bond. Event though it is still my favourite watch I guess it won't get much wrist time during the next weeks as I have a SMP Chrono from Andrew. And that beauty is just amazing! It was a [censored] to regulate since it took me almost two weeks. But now I think Andrew has put a Quartz movement in. It runs

only 2 seconds slow in 40 hours.

Dear forum members,

although I've been reading this forum for only a few month I have learned

a lot so far.

My first order was a PO 4th generation from Andrew. Unfortunately, one lume

marker had fallen off. But with the help of this forum I was able to remove the crown,

take the movement out and put back the marker. I had never opened and taken out a movement before.

So I am kinda proud that I could fix it myself :-)

I also found great information on how to regulate the movement in order to keep time

more accurately. The PO ist now +2 secs/day.

My 2nd order from Andrew was the SMP Chrono which I also regulated to +2 to +3 seconds a day.

I also found these information in this forum.

It always impresses me how skilled and knowledgeable the members are.

And it is realy hard to find any rude comments here. You guys know what I am talking about when you

look at other forums on the web.

correct me if I am wrong: But so far I haven't seen a rep that has the correct position of the

helium valve. On my gen SMP it is placed a little bit further to the 11 instead of being exactly above the

10 hour marker.

So I think the pictures show a gen.
