  1. Cool. Now they have to get the strap.
  2. Yeah, you guys can make me nervous with all that hypersensitivity about that kind of stuff....in the context of the problems that our dealers have been having. I think this is a time to give our dealers some extra leeway. I don't know how many people here have either run or been involved with a sales based business, but if you have, you can probably imagine what kind of major headache and trauma this whole debacle has been for them. I know the OP wasn't trying be at all incendiary...so I don't want to be negative.
  3. I think that there is a 'perfect collection'. Obviously it's for each individual...but for me, I would go: Ultimate PO Pam 111h Rolex Sub Tag Link Chrono Hublot Big Bang IWC Ingy in Ti There are others that are worthy, but for me, this would represent an optimized collection. I have a tendency to like newer models because I believe that reps are improving as time goes on. I've omitted MBW watches because I don't feel they represent value if we're talking about collections. Although I don't doubt that for a lot of their owners, they represent their best piece.
  4. Damn, I want this watch bad now. I don't think I'm taking a chance on the seconds at 6, though. It will probably end up being the non-chrono. I like titanium and I like tool watches and I like the red accents on this watch vs. the SS version. A must have...and I'm not even that huge on IWC.
  5. I'm starting to do some more research, and some members have alluded to dealers that sell the Ultimate PO with the 'ETA' *cough* movement for less than what TT/Josh are selling them for. I'm going to try to research that, but almost fell into the pitfall of thinking I could get it from Silix for a killer deal- until I realized it was an earlier version still. I'm sure it's still a good version, but I'm after the good AR.
  6. I'm surprised I haven't yet seen a discussion or review of the 'copy 2824' movement that is much cheaper and supposedly has the same fit and finish as the more expensive rep. Can anyone provide feedback as to whether this movement is likely to be reliable? Or is it simply something like a 21j? Am I safe to buy this watch, or would I be better off ponying up for the 'ETA' version?
  7. I want so many watches, like the Inge and the Ultimate PO, but the BB and the ROO are going to be almost impossible to avoid buying. I don't want a problem model though.
  8. I'm going to have a bunch- I'd meant to bump the old thread, but forgot about it... At least 5 I would imagine. Maybe a few more. Yikes. I'm obsessed with AR.
  9. I think I'm on this side of the whole AR debate....but admit that I haven't experienced the pragmatics of having to deal with it personally, so it's a 'soft' opinion. I really think it enhances the appearance of certain watches- especially those that have large dials...pams and the big PO. I'm not going to go off on a big AR rant, I just told myself.
  10. I just hope that when the price does come down, it doesn't mean it's part of an economization of the watch- meaning no AR, and that sort of detail stuff. I'm not familiar enough with the way the watch cycles tend to progress to be able to predict.
  11. I would have never thought I would get a black sub, but I cracked and am getting a serviced one that should hopefully last for a while. Haven't received it yet. I'm trying to make an essentialist collection, where I don't have any watch that duplicates anything already in the stable.
  12. I might be wrong, but I think a lot of the early production demo models have AR, but then when they actually hit the mainstream, they don't.
  13. It bugs me that his is going to be a borderline case...as far as the size of the watch with my smallish wrists. In terms of the use of the RG in the watch- I still hesitate to go with anything two toned, but if I was open to it, this would be the type of watch I'd want to experiment with. I like the way the gold is implemented in it, as well. I prefer the TT dial. I'm very excited about this one, but I might not pick it up for another month. Let the glow of the new watches, both this and the Ultimate PO, calm down for a bit, then I'll check them out. I don't know what AR treatment, if any, the BB comes with- but I'm going to send all my watches in for the treatment together, once the collection is complete (yeah, right). I've stopped getting irritated with them, individually, and am now just planning on sending in like 6 or 7 crystals whenever an aftermarket solution is figured out.
  14. Yeah, I'd be interested in knowing your wrist size too- although it looks pretty close to mine regardless, and the BB is significantly bigger than the Pam in the picture. I can wear Pams, I recently discovered, but this one might be pushing it. The 44mm pams are close to what I think I can get away with. I've been planning on getting the ultimate PO and the BB, but I'm a little concerned about the Big Bang, particularly.
  15. I continue to look forward to getting this watch. It's going to be difficult for me to get it right away, budget wise, but I'm definitely going to add the SS version to the collection at some point. Ideally serviced and with AR, but hey.
  16. This is an interesting question for me, too. I have got a sub on the way, but that was only after my buddy bugging me constantly about Rollies all the time. I've resisted rollies because they're associated with fake watches. And yet, interestingly enough I'm sort of on the fence for a rep like the Inge, which is by all accounts a close rep and even has a unique styling that I like. Why? Because it's an IWC. And even though I like IWC and appreciate what they've done in the history of watchmaking as a result of a couple of particularly informative synopsis given on this very message board...I've hesitated to in that direction. Whereas, I think you kind of just have to have a sub in your collection. I quite possibly might not get another rolex. With the big bang coming out, I'm also sort of weighing myself between two similar styles of watches, in the sense of being tool watches. Since I'm leaning towards the BB I'm backing off on the idea of the Inge for now. I see the Ultimate PO bumping in front of it, too.
  17. Seriously, though, this has been one of my 'grail quest' watches to have proper AR with. AR's become my biggest 'thing' in distinguishing reps and the PO was the symbolic watch of that initial disappointment in gen vs. rep as far as the difference the AR makes.
  18. That is so awesome. Oh.....this is not good guys. No AR on this watch has been like a long dance to JT's sexyback, trying to look like I'm enjoying myself cause I think have a 35% chance of hooking up with the girl I'm 'sorta' dancing with...thinking "if only mom could see me now..." fakin' it to JT- wondering if any of my buddies are going to have camera's and I'm going to see this on facebook the next day.
  19. Oh man, have I been sleeping on the PO scene or something? What is the situation with the AR on these reps? How strong is it, exactly? If it already comes with solid AR, then I'm going to have to get onboard. And I just ordered three watches this week. So this is when rep collecting gets interesting, eh? When the irony of me wearing my James Bond watch while trying to smuggle this highly radioactive timepiece into my rotation is going to potentially poisonous to my horological well-being as a result over the long term becomes too overwhelming....I'll just do my little bond hand gun impersonation in the mirror. Then, when it starts to get a little a little weird, I'll say "Bloody well, then." I might try to smash a martini glass if things get ugly. Hey, why does no one mention how, when you're wearing a good rep, you're much more aware of the time? It has interesting implications on one's consciousness. You're always checking out your rep, and are thereby more aware of the passage of time. Marshall McLuhan would not be pleased....hah
  20. Angus, could you elaborate a little bit on the 'later ultimate rep' you mentioned that would have AR? I'd be interested in knowing what sort of premium you would charge for the AR, as well as how long after the first run is released you'll be making this ultimate version available.
  21. I'm becoming convinced of the 'golden age' thing, too. In fact, I don't think I'm going to be looking on the used section as much any more. No doubt there are some really good older reps, but I feel there really is a difference in what we're seeing over the last 8 months. I'm planning on getting the Big Bang, the Offshore, and *maybe* an ultimate PO. I wanted to stay away from the 7750 movements as much as possible, but I guess I've got to just cross my fingers. I've got a Tag Link Chrono, and although it's been a little buggy, it's holding up. Now, all I need to do now is figure out some aftermarket AR, and then all of my reps are going for in the treatment.
  22. By far the biggest issue for me with reps. I would rather have minor flaws in the dial layout than no AR...seriously. Luminova is even a far more secondary issue for me.
  23. I love this watch, but the movement is likely to be unreliable. I'm not sure whether I'm going to go for it, but if there was ever a watch I wanted to 'risk' having break down on me, this might be it. I'm loving this and the ROO. I could be broke if I bought the watches that are in the pipeline right now. I've been here for probably not much more than a couple of months now, and it's amazing the difference between the watches coming out now, and even the watches that were available six months ago.
