  1. Only the 2007 and later versions have the single sided AR. The one pictured is the newer one (I have the same one and love it!) as it has the gold Omega logo and white gold rings around the lume indices. Pre 2007 versions had no AR
  2. I have the bronze version and it is near perfect enough that I have no desire to buy the gen. I will have to check that B placement... back to the AD with me, as if I have not spent enough time there burning images of the gens into my memory... The only thing that I have seen it that the date fills the window more on the rep than it does on the gen. As for the lugs, perfect as far as I can tell. I read somewhere that the rep lugs were too sharp and needed to be sanded down but the gen lugs are just as sharp.
  3. Thanks for the review on this. I was seriously considering it and was asking Andrew about it and he told me that it wasn't a very good replication I just didn't get it as all the pics I had seen looked really good compared to the gen pics I had seen. So let me just get this right, the subdial at 9 is a running seconds and a 24 hour hand, correct? I still have no idea how they pulled of that one in an Asian movement, very cool!!!
  4. Hey MemberX! Glad to see you got your SOH... did you get it through Mary? I am with you on these, I love both my bronze chrono and my black non-chrono. I keep looking at the gen every time one pops up on the forums for sale but as close as these are, and with my gen mesh I just don't see the sense in it! Now, as for that steering wheel lock, if you had bought a gen lock instead of a rep the paint probably would not have scratched off!!
  5. Title says it all. At first I was skeptical until the guy posted pics. This is truly a beautiful watch. Wasn't sure if it would be OK to post the link here so I will do it the old fashioned way: hxxp://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=404428 which one of us will be the first to breakdown and buy this thing???
  6. I have spent probably waaaaaaayyyyyyy too much time in ADs scrutinizing the SOHC and then virtually running to my car to compare my bronze SOHC with the images in my memory. The V2 is truly flawless, see my pics in this forum of my bronze on the gen mesh I picked up. One thing I can tell you is that looking at the pics on Andrews site of the Hublot factory version, the subdials look much darker than they really are. That being said the actual subdial color on the bronze matches the gen perfectly as does the dial color. The only things that I have found so far are minor; while the datefont is correct on the V2 the date fills the window just a little too much. The only other one is that the lume dots on the rep are a pure white while on the gen they are a light C3 green. Don't pay any attention to the review that says the lug horns on the rep are too sharp, they are just at sharp on the gen. Anyway, if you want to get any more details on my comparisons (as if there can be more, sorry) just contact me.
  7. Nope, the caseback is rep. Funny thing about that is I handed both watches to a friend of mine not telling him which was gen and gave him a loupe to try to pick the gen. He called the rep a gen because he said under the loupe the caseback looked more detailed and of better quality! I had to chuckle at that one.
  8. Yes, the dial in the rep is gen, as are the hands, bezel and bracelet.
  9. Thanks OSRep. For any interested parties, I will likely listing the rep in the for sale forum this week. I will probably offer it with or without the gen bracelet and I will also be throwing in the remaining gen parts I have (gen He valve and tube, gen pushers and gen crown, sorry, no crown tube)
  10. Thanks for chiming in here Chief... If I did not make it abundantly clear to everybody already, Chief did everything possible to make these UPO crystals work and even polished them after I did my own polish to ensure there was no existing AR. And based on the performance of the SMP Chrono crystal, I am as convinced as Chief is that there is something funky going on with those UPO rep crystals. Thanks again for all your help chief!
  11. The orange rep bezel is close enough. Orange second hand, not even close. Orange on the numbers, close enough but your bigger problem is the "happy feet" on the logo.
  12. VERY observant horz!! Thanks for pointing that out. Just did some checking around and I had ordered an hour hand for a ref 2599.80.0 and the newer version of this watch is a ref 2225.80.0. Ofrei doesn't even have the newer hands on the website. Looks like it might be special order time!! Thanks again
  13. Thanks arniezac. Unfortunately I did not photograph the process and kind of wish I had. Good luck with the crystal, I just had no success with them. They always seemed to scratch very easily after getting them back from Chief. Now, to his credit he did redo both crystals two more times but the AR would scratch as easily as having a towel wiped across them. That being said, the Chief crystal on my SMP Chrono gets lots of wear and is still scratch free. As for the bezel insert, it really is pretty easy to do and I just use a dremel with a grinder bit to take off the bulk and then a diamond bit to finish off the job. I have another bezel insert that I will be working on soon an I will try to post pics of that process. Good luck on yours!
  14. Well, looks like everybody gets it right, though not for many of the reasons stated. The watch on the left is the gen. However: -the rep has the exact same dial as the gen. -the rep has the exact same hands as the gen, except for the rep still has the rep subdial hands, notice how they are .3mm shorter? Look closely. -the rep has the exact same bracelet as the gen, although it looks like over the years the end link stamp has been moved in production -the rep has the exact same bezel as the gen -the rep has Chief AR, which to me looks just as good as the Omega AR which is double sided on the post 2007 models. -the rep was just serviced by Rex and he actually replaced needed parts with swiss, he also waterproofs the watch. I still have a gen He valve and tube, a gen crown and gen pushers but I don't think I will install those at this time as I will likely be listing the rep in the sales forum and will include those other parts with the deal. Thanks for all the feedback!
  15. OK, so this comes on the heels of my "Omega holy trinity" post. I present to you a highly frankened rep SMP Chrono and a genuine SMP Chrono. Look very closely... do you know which is which??? In all shots the left-right orientation is maintained throughout. Here's the front view: And the case backs and crowns: Not the best shot of He valves, but here they are: And lastly, the obligatory lume shots, put your sunglasses on: Have fun, any feedback is appreciated and thanks for looking.
  16. So I have finally finished all my Omega projects and am ready to move on to something else. I now present for your viewing pleasure, the holy trinity! Here is what you are seeing: 1. Cartel pumpkin UPO, swiss ETA movt, with gen bezel insert, gen dial, gen crystal, gen hour minute and seconds hands, and gen rubber strap 2. Cartel 007 Casino Royale, swiss ETA movt, with gen bezel insert, gen dial, gen crystal, gen hour and minute hands, painted to correct color seconds hand and gen bracelet. 3. Cartel SMP Chrono, A7750 movt serviced by Rex, gen bezel, gen dial, gen hour minute and chrono seconds hands, Chief AR on crystal and gen bracelet. All mods performed by me except for chrono seconds on SMP which was broached by Rex during the service. Yes, I know the UPO bezel inserts are a little banged up, that is how I manage to not pay minimal price for the bezels. Turns out when the gen owners have their bezels replaced for a little ding, Omega sends them back the original bezel and you can pick them up if you keep your eyes open. And you gotta love the lume you get with those gen parts! Feedback appreciated but if you are going to tell me how nuts I am for doing the mods instead of just buying the real deal, keep it to yourself. You can't buy the learning experience or the modding skills gained from projects like this. I JUST LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
  17. OK you impatient little *&$#@s!! You are as bad as my kids! JK, pics added, thanks for your comments.
  18. Hey MemberX, were you able to pick up a black SOH V2 from Mary? I really picked up this mesh with every intent of wearing it on the black SOH, but I love it on my bronze SOH Chrono! Will try to get pics tonight.
  19. So I stumbled across a listing for an SOH on the watchuseek forums and the guy was selling it with rubber and with mesh. I threw out an offer for the mesh only and he took it. Bracelet just showed up this morning and I already have it installed and I LOVE BREIT MESH!!! It totally makes the watch. Gotta run and get some work done but I will post pics after polishing up the clasp a little. Edit- OK, finally got the kids to bed, so was able to start shooting. Thanks to my wife for the use of her pearls and my 13 year old daughter demanded I give her credit for the last 2 pics as she composed them and shot them. Thanks for looking!
  20. I have a 111h project I am working on so I have spent a lot of time at the ADs looking at those sandwich dials and some of the sausage ones as well. They are definitely a white or maybe a slightly off white. Definitely not green.
  21. So, I am getting ready to add to my portfolio of "things I can do myself" and am ready to venture into lumes outside of the simple sandwich dial. It seems like the complaint I see the most is people saying that their binder dries up too quickly. Last week I picked up a few 1 dram vials exactly like what they ship lume powder in so I could make custom mixes of C1 + C3 for an experimental pam dial. I am now wondering, why hasn't anybody ever talked about mixing the powder with the binder and keeping it in one of these 1 dram glass vials? you would always have it ready, if it gets too thick just add 1-2 drops of acetone, the small neck of the vial would minimize the surface area exposed to air so it would not dry out as quickly and we know it wouldn't dry out when the vial is stored with the cap on because the binder doesn't dry out when stored the same way. Does anybody already do this and if not, why?
  22. I currently have 4 types of lume -RC Tritec Superluminova C3 (green) -Lum-tec GXWG (green) -Lum-Tec GX10 (green) -Noctilumina B17 (blue) So far I have had all 4 vials on my night stand and had several trials of exposing them to UV light for about 5 minutes and then making observations. The GX10 does seem to glow brighter for the first few minutes but after that they all glow about equally bright. The brightness lasts on all of them for about the same length of time as well, at least for 7-8 hours until morning. Good enough that I will not opt for RC Tritec but rather stick with the more economical and easier to order Lum-Tec or Noctilumina. As for the Noctilumina, I did not get one of the Ultra-Fine grains and it had a visibly grainier appearance than the powdery texture of the other 3. However, I was able to grind the Noctilumina into an equally fine powder with a mortar and pestle and it still glows just as well as it did before grinding. Part 2 of this is mixing with binder, see my binder question on this same forum.
  23. Here is the link to the Jurgens Monster Mesh... 4mm thick!! Actually, by my digital calipers it is 4.05mm... http://jurgensusa.com/Shop/index.php?cPath=66
  24. On another note... I am pretty excited because I have picked up a Jurgens Monster Mesh bracelet to go with the watch and it should be delivered today... It looks like this should be an adequate replacement to the gen as the gen is I believe 4.5mm. Jurgens Monster Mesh is 4.4mm. Anybody have experience with this? Once I have the whole family together (black non-chrono, bronze chrono, mesh) I will post pics.
  25. UPDATE! Inbound into customs! Woohoo!!! Now, MemberX, if I end up hating it you will be the first one I contact.
