  1. I received an email from RC Tritec with this info:

"Many thanks for your e-mail. We have developped a new white colour: BG W9 which is much brighter than GL C1. The emission is blue-green, the colour is whitish but not quite as white as GL C1. Regarding luminosity, please check the attached data sheet. The price for BG W9 is the same as GL C1."

Maybe Rolex uses BG W9 for the DS?

  3. I've read an interesting topic in a spanish forum (replik.as) and I'm trying to translate here:

"Movements factories in Chine were born by Government order in sometime and copying swiss movements in order to create a powerful chinese watch industry.

Specifically Seagull, the best well-known, was born in January of 1955 by Government order, in a workshop with only four people with hardly any tools. The started copying a Sindaco swiss movement with 5 jewels and the first prototype was finished in 24th of March of this same year. This famous watch (WuXing 5 stars) started to be produced by hand...

In 1957 the started the preparation of the mass production, with the creation of the Tianjin factory. One year later, with the finish of the building works, the WuYi -based in a swiss movement too- started its production. This movement was improved in differents times. Last serie was called ST-2A WuYi and it's the first one with something similar to an incabloc.

In 1962, the factory moved and changed its name to Tianjin Watch Factory......

From then there is a huge history for creating the Industry that manufactures the 25% of the movements sold in the world, most of them for OEM watches with overestimate prizes in Europe and America.

Everybody knows the lack of transparency in the production and sale of the movements from companies like Seagull but for they the rep market doesn't lead, they lead over the rest of the market and outshine even the powerful Swatch group.

    Current Seagull movements

  4. Love this one.

k2222 Doublesided AR and a HKTAN custom made strap.

Bought from Andrew a year ago. This is the 46mm first version of a B&R 01-92. The movement is an "asian ETA 2892-2". Anybody knows if I can replace it with a swiss ETA 2892 or other swiss ETA movement?

    Thanks for looking.

  5. ptolomeo,

I have a spare orange dial and hands. I notice that the numbers are not all orange. On some of the right edges there is some white. Kind of like a shadow affect. Does you dial have that look too? Anyone else want to comment?

It's an effect of the pic. Mine's got white dial and hands and doesn't look orange. I'm thinking in sending it to The Zigmeister for a superlume.

Is that a 46mm BR01-92 or a 42mm BR03 size with 01 markings? I have one of the 42mm 01's and I think that it has an ETA movement - it certainly runs perfectly but isn't accurate.

Mine is the first version of the 01-92 in 46mm with an asian movement. Anybody knows if I can replace it for a swiss ETA?

  6. Don't like it. I'm a purist and wouldn't put anything that wasn't remotely accurate to a gen strap on my Breits. Probably because I think that of all watchmakers, Breitling is probably the finest strapmaker there is. Why try something so inferior when the bar has already been set so high. Sorry Vic, just my opinion :p

I agree. I think Breits must look like Breits while Pannies must look like Pannies. :) Don't like that strap. Sorry, Vic.
