  1. Love that watch. I think that I might buy myself a christmas present.
  2. Nice! I wish that I did not sell mine a few years ago. That watch is a keeper, my friend.
  3. Wow, lots of choices makes it hard to choose just one... Now that I got a crown tube, I can enjoy an old flame one again. And from the looks of her, I know you guys can guess what timezones I'm trackin'
  4. Interesting stuff. PS. Hi Poopypants! It's been a looong time! Cheers
  5. I am looking forward to hearing more about these kind of offerings around here. Aside from me, there is someone that I live with who would be delighted Please keep me informed. Cheers
  6. Big thumbsup for an AmEx card. I highly recommend one. Credit Cards are a dubious affair to deal with. I find it utterly insulting to have to deal with loan sharks. In fact, 9 times outta 10, I am a cash man. What you see is what I'm worth - plain and simple. Cheers
  7. Now this looks to be like a great project. Please keep us updated. Best of luck.
  8. And they are still not right The fonts this time are a superior regression! Ohhh DW Ohhh DW Can u ever Get it Right!!! Nope, nope Won't happen Can't happen Says the Sun, moon And stars. Why, well why Not! It's not so hard, It can't be, Right? Ohhh DW Ohhh DW You silly Man, You cause such anguish And torment, In our wee lil' hearts. But still I Pray, Each and every day For the Right one To fall from the Heavens and Into my watch.
  9. It appears to me that an OEM dial and an MBW dial have the same date window size. I've handled both at the same time upon many an occasion. I am, of course, only talking about vintage dials as (you veterans all know) that for the most part, I don't mettle with sapphire crap* *There are some exceptions to this rule. Cheers
  10. I actually do carry a loupe in my pocket at all times; but you guys knew this already. Started the habit back in '95. Where I live (and travel to), I meet Rolex WIS all the time. In fact, I am a Rolex WIS, but I conceal my rep identity amongst fellow WIS for various reasons. My point is that you'd be surprised with how many people do indeed know what a 1665 is, or a 5514, or a 5508, etc... You see, there is a reason as to why I carry a loupe with me all of the time! Cheers PS. Hi Toni!
  11. Love it. And I love mine (well, it's a 13 not a 12). Mine has the 26J movement variation as opposed to the USA-common 17J variety. Best thing you can do (aside from keeping the original dial installed) is to keep the Superdome Tropic 19 on. After every Rolex Service Center service, I reinstall my T-19 superdome and pressure test it for minimun 3 minutes at 200m.
  12. Nice stuff Neil! Wow! I am keeping my fingers crossed that the Bangkok cobblers can make an excellently-executed 1655 EXP-II. I have been waiting for too many damn years (and I know that I'm not alone). Kap kun krap and best regards
  13. Yeah, go for the white. The DRSD and Single Red are sooo rare that it there would be no doubt that you're frontin'...
  14. It's a lot of fun building watches. I prefer using MBW items as a base to start off with. But... I have built up watches using only genuine parts; and I've built watches with half genuine half aftermarket parts. All in all, it's just a damn watch - u can't take it with you when you die. MBWs are real nice watches. Frankens are great fun. Genuines leave everything in the dust. Happy hunting/building
  15. For this weekend I will be wearing my sorta neglected 5513. Why is she often neglected? I don't know, but I can tell you that maybe it has to do with the fact that somehow, the 5513 is a perfect watch in every way...
  16. Nice watch. I love my '67 5513. Do you have the superdome Tropic 19 on it? IMHO, it makes the watch.
  17. I await the personal reviews regarding this rep.
  18. I've been waiting FOREVER for this rep. You guys remember me bitchin' endlessly about how simplicity is the most difficult asthetic to replicate. IMHO, the MK XV is perfect and represents true elegance and class. I have not ordered the rep yet because I want to read some reviews first. PS. Gotta love the Yao's.
  19. Today I just had to whip out an oldie... 42mm diameter! 22mm lugwidth! Chrononometer specs!
  20. That was a GREAT thread! Funny enough, I just found this image that I had posted in that oooold thread The proof is in the pudding - in this case, this particular pic and who the watch is attached to... Just to clarify, we must remember that 'both' dudes enjoyed non-quickset GMT tracking
