  1. Stay away. The bottom line here is that it is very radioactive. The caseback does not protect the wearer from its radioactivity. I know I know, people always say that the caseback it too thick for Radium to penetrate. Well, that is sort of the case for Tritium; but, it is NOT the case with Radium. Do not listen to other posters in this thread. It is very dangerous. Even sleeping with the watch and sticking your hand under the pillow will give you jaw cancer. Stay away!
  2. Cool, Rolex found a batch of Tritium for that dial! Rare!
  3. Ohhh man David, these look excellent. Right now I'd go for a Pre-A 009. Perfect watch!!! I can't wait! BEST regards
  4. NICE combo!!! I know it's a Rolex subforum, but here's my combo (as seen elsewhere)
  5. Bingo, Bob and Bri... It is a different crown. And yes, my damn time machine only goes forward. Drats!
  6. Not sure about the crown, could really be the angle. 10 years a ago, these went for $3k-$4k If I only had a time machine.
  7. As a wise man from Co said recently: you can take a Mercedes Gullwing to Mercedes Service Center and get it fixed. Ford, well, you can find every part for cheap... Wanna restore a freaky rare car like an Aston Martin Lagonda? No problem in the UK. You can also take a 120 year old Patek petite sonnerie to their service centers and it is fully supported. You can take a trashed Omega Type 53 or a flooded SM300 to Bienne and Omega will service it. You can take an IWC MKX and send it Shauffhausen and sure enough, they will fix her up... Roll into Breguet AD with your great great great grandpa's pocket watch and Breguet will hook yo azz up!!! Richmont is a jeweller/accessory peddler - not a watchmaking firm. At this point, you can all put your 80s and earlier Rollies in the safe and forget about them since there is no more support for them.
  8. GMT 1675 black insert and oyster non-stretching rivit. To sum it up: BAD AZZ
  9. And the damn Rolex baggy is a friggin' crystal baggy not a parts envelope.
  10. The days of Rolex having a crown are over. I sometimes comment upon the sheer nonsense of the contemporary entitiy of Rolex - but this time I'll say that the Richmont Group are to blame. No more service for 1530, 1560/5 movements, no USA RSCs will not support 1570/5 movements; 1520s are being refused 90% of the time... It's a joke. If you can't support your historical lineage, you ain't worth sh*t. There are millions of 1680s, 5513s, 1675s out there. And no support??? No love for the MoD RN 5517s??? No love for the Comex dive teams? Or Tenzing Norgay reaching the summit of Everest??? Or Bond, James Bond? Or the entire Pilots' Assocation of PANAM 727s ushering in the Jet Age with Juan Trippe issued 6542s & 1675s????? Or Chuck Yeager breaking the sound barrier with 1675??? Or the countless military & civilian personnel who chose to wear Rolex due to its ruggedness and reliability??? Or the millions of scuba divers???? Or Apollo XIII? Or the trials at Daytona???? UTTER MICKEY MOUSE NONSENSE.
  11. Great points, I agree highly. It is all about the movements in these babies. $6k is earthly enough for most folks (at least once in their lives). Especially for something that will outlive them and that can be passed on to the offspring. Every true collector has gotta have at least one Calatrava Model 96! While not so extravagant, I am saving up for a Breguet Type XX Areonavale... Or maybe a vintage decomissoned Type XX with papers. Breguets make me pass out. So do some Pateks. Sometimes I'm afraid to looks at them in shops for fear of passing out and getting wheeled out on a stretcher
  12. Thanks for the information... I always enjoy your projects. Once again, it is a joy to look at the pics of your lovely watch. On another note, how is that 1675 coming along?
  13. Great pic. Irony is 2 fold funny on this one.
  14. Flossin' material. Big time. Where's your Lear jet? Where's the Mclaren F1? Will you be eating dinner here in Monaco tonight or in the Hamptons? Buck up and save for a real Patek or do tha smart thing: buy a $1900 OEM 2nd hand. Frankenpateks don't make much sense to me. The Patek caliber of horlogerie is all about the honest experience of owning the real thing. And there are plenty of Pateks that are obtainable at earthly prices. Most everything else IMHO is great for frankens, but not Patek... Anyhow, who cares what I think though I've never been one to stop a man from shootin' a gun. It just ain't my business
  15. There is a scent of rotten fish in the air... Lemania 4 sho. Idiot iz gonna make some fat endz on dis won. Winner will b seething. It's alwayz funny 2me that buyers don't do a little research be4 bidding. As 1 (of a pair) of circus masters once said: "there's a sucker born every second". To add to tha mix, Vallejo's finest E40 also has been sayin' "dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb"... And tha beat goes on...
  16. The moral of this post is to keep it orange!
  17. Cool strap, I've got the OF black DaVinci on my 001. Best strap I ever bought. Can't wait for a correct 024. This is my favorite PAM and I almost bought an OEM until it dawned upon me that the Richmont group can suck my big toe for gobbling up all the small cottage-industry-based watch firms in the 70s/80s by striking fear into their hearts over the take over of Quartz and how mechanicals will die out... My next OEM purchase is a Breguet Type XX Areonavale. Screw Richmont. So... I will buy a 024 rep. And then mod it in every possible way. Then I'll stick to my plan of not giving Richmont any more $$$.
  18. Very nice dial. Looks crooked, perhaps it needs to be reset as I presume the feet have been cut off. This is a mafor pain in the ass to deal with. I hate correcting this. I wish that dial feet were universally placed in the same locations... What a great world it would be!
  19. Correct back, but lame bridge. Strap is a Europelli black Shell Cordovan with titanium stitching. Perfect combo IMHO (at least in my eyes - and I guess that's all that matters). Best regards gentlemen!
