  1. I just noticed this thread... The pics are excellent. Your daughter is very talented. I am very impressed As always, best regards to you & yours, my friend
  2. Everything has changed... The following info is perhaps related to the initial thread post.. Read the extensive article/rant in the August 2010 issue of Watchtime magazine with Swatch Group Chairman Nicolas Hayek. No more ETA movements/ebauches/springs for anyone outside of the exclusive Swiss group of cronies. "I'm not going to deliver anything--no movements, no hairsprings, nothing." -Hayek "Thank God he's doing it. He should do it immediately. It will only weaken the weak. All the weak [brands] should disappear" -Hublot CEO Jean-Claude Biver I'm all for in-house movements, but I'm personally against the idea of attrition when it comes to strangulating the small watch companies until they die. It reminds me of when Quartz was introduced and ETA bought 95% of the old original watch companies with scare tactics in the 1970s ---> "Ohh, you will go bankrupt trying to make mechanical movements now that quartz movements are around. Sell your company/tooling to us [for cheap] or die a quick death".
  3. Good point. Around here, $12k is the starting price for a decent paint job. No thanks. Resprayed cars = The paint quality on german cars is really amazing IMO. I searched for several years for a gunmetal grey 8, but I never found one for sale. There were only a handful made by BMW that came from the factory in gunmetal grey.
  4. Her paint is original I use Zaino. It's the best stuff for black cars. Best regards By-Tor Cheers PS. Let me reiterate what Woody said: great cars, gents!
  5. I'm glada to see that there is some love for the E31 around here This is my daily driver for the past 4 years... In my mind, life is too short not to drive a car that you absolutely love. For me, it is my E31. I know her very well, inside & out--I have done 90% of the maintenance/wrenching myself. She's in pristine condition but keeping the black paint perfect is a weekly task as the roads around here are dusty & the birds are unforgiving. Cheers PS. ByTor, there are many fine members of our global E31 car club in the EU. If you're serious about getting an 8 one day, they can help you out.
  6. Glad you got it sorted out. I recommend that you grease the rubber gaskets while you're there for extra measure. Cheers
  7. You should apply a semi-permanent threadlock solution on the screw thread. This will prevent the screws from loathing! You will still be able to unscrew them when changing straps if and only if you use semi-permanent. You can buy ThreadLock at all hardware & automotive stores. Buy the blue one not the red one (red is permanent).
  8. ^^^Not really, just patience and about an hour of your time.
  9. The nut that holds the bezel screw is probably reversed; therefore, the bezel screw will not tighten. I had this problem with my Survivor. I lost 2 bezel screws the first time I wore the watch. I ordered 2 more bezel screws... When I opened the watch to tighten the replacement screws, the nuts were reversed so the bezel screws could not tighten at all. So I flipped the nuts around, and voil
  10. I had one from Paso, too, but I stupidly sold it It's a real beauty, and in person, it "wears" like a much larger watch.
  11. I'm on the fence with this one. I love the watch, but the pusher guards are over the top. I still might get this one due to the fact that it's supposedly made very well.
  12. I appreciate the kind responses, gents I will see what I can score Cheers
  13. Do you guys know if all Seconds @12 ROO have interchangeable bezels? I'd like to replace my Black Themes bezel due to a few serious gouges. I'd also like to replace the rubber bezel on my other ROO (peeling, of course). Do you guys know where I can get these parts?
  14. Gotta love those E31 highway beasts, too! Especially ones that are fully restored to mint condition! There's an 8 local to me with an E39 M5 S62 engine stuffed under its hood.
  15. If you're gonna get jeans, please do yourself a favor and buy selvage denim. The fake aged washes simply look terrible. Get Levis LVC, etc... in Raw, Dry denim. Then do the whole 6 months waiting to get the patina just right. Nothing beats real vintage selvage denim!!!
  16. It's a beauty; I wear mine several days a week since getting it a long time ago. Cheers
  17. Lookin' forward to hearing the verdict on this one
  18. Now there is a V2 of this watch. Different movement, crappier dial. It's still a nice watch, but the new dial numbers are totally wrong compared to V1 (which was closer to gen). Also, the 'IWC Schaffausen' font on V2 is too big.
  19. Enjoy the beauty. She's a rare bird. I'm very glad that the watch is now in fine hands. JohnCraig is a true gentleman, and he is someone who I know will enjoy this DW's pedigree nature. Best regards from Euno
  20. Nice choice. Get some good glass. Great all around lenses for your APS-C camera: 16-35mm 2.8L Mk2 24-70 2.8L (my favorite workhorse for a decade, and still my favorite all-arounder). Cheers PS. I love my 5DMK2 bodies. I have used them daily since last fall/winter and they still have never ceased to amaze me. Highly recommended!!!
