  1. Funny stuff. Uhhh that's an E38. And certainly a different beast (smaller differential rear, etc) than E31. It's all about torque not HP Your E24 M/// CSi would've been a good example of what fast was all about in the 80s.
  2. No decent torque? It's the torque that makes the stock E31 a fire-breathing autobahn cruising monster. Remove the USA-spec limiter and, well... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUSmr8DvZEM
  3. The big trouble is that it's got the silly "Top Gun" written on the side Different strokes for different folks, but "Top Gun" is kinda, well, a man's man kinda thing unless you're a pilot Just my opinion and who cares what I think. But it makes me laugh though. I kinda wonder what the hell IWC was thinking when they made a Top Gun special edition.
  4. I've seen a slew of them over the years in the wild. All genuine. Cheers
  5. Indeed I was aware that the watch pictured is genuine. I was wondering if this model was "in the pipeline" so to speak. I know little about Breitlings aside from vintage Ref. 806 Navitimers.
  6. Is this what you guys are calling V.2, as in the slightly different limited edition that's larger with different subdials/ etc..? I like V.1 and I'm thinking of getting it (with the correct lume at 3). Should I wait?
  7. This is a superb watch. I just got mine. I did notice a freakish 7750-thing: the 12 hour is always running. Not as running seconds, but as constantly keeping 12-hour time. It resets with the reset button. Weird but unique flaw that I can live with
  8. Nice strap! I've got an HKTan buffalo strap on my 3717 and I LOVE it. He makes great straps 4sure. Cheers
  9. I'm in the same boat as Pug. I've got the wheels in my box. The rep wheels are pretty good--not the same as OEM, but not bad. Of course, when I compare it to other watches that I've done the switch on, it shows. All in all, the Slevin is superb. It's best with the bracelet (and I ain't a bracelet kinda guy). Cheers
  10. Enjoy the great food & wine! Have fun! Cheers from Euno
  11. Just unscrew the caseback screws. Easy as 1, 2, 3 Cheers
  12. Nice... Simple, classy, elegant! FWIW, looks like everyone these days is going for Laco's dial (and overall WWII Beobachtung watch) design I sold my sterile dial Laco (same as yours) 5 or 6 years ago & seeing your post makes me regret selling it.
  13. Don't get me started I'm gonna unload my stuff sometime soon (a few weeks).
  14. My mov't did not have any screws to hold it to the movement ring. My rep strap was sticky and had a horrid strong plastic scent. Not for the faint of heart/scent! This watch is a nice one; and as such, it deserves a nice strap like the beautiful Strapluxe one(s) that I purchased. Cheers
  15. Some answers... To remove the movement, you need to release the stem first. Those screws you pointed out are dial feet screws. The red arrows point to where there should be movement screws. Mine didn't have them either. No biggie. Just gently pry the movement out carefully. The movement fits snugly into the movement ring, so take your time. V.1 is more accurate. The working Power Reserve on V.2 is in the wrong place by a few mm. The dial markers reflect this error, too. Stick with V.1 if you want an accurate dial. If you want real power reserve, go for V.2 I guess. And get a new strap as the rep strap is cheap, sticky and stinks like plastic. Cheers
  16. Hiya Woody! No this is the accurate version 1. I moved the power reserve hand so that my watch is not like all the other reps. The power reserve seems to be the same as 2824 or 2836. The movement is quite impressive. I will post some pics of it soon. It's a well-made watch. The AR is also very natural in appearance. Cheers
  17. It's funny you should mention that. After all these years of collecting watches, the MK XV is still one of the most perfect watches ever made. It's truly a conceptual marvel of perfection. As always, best regards
  18. Yes! I also picked up the same strap but with white stitching. I have not gotten around to trying it on yet. Strapluxe makes EXCELLENT straps. Cheers
  19. My Big Pilot and my Little Pilot together
  20. Thank for posting the pics. It looks nice as a prototype. The real thing is an odd watch. I tried it on and somewhat liked it. I would definitely buy the rep though! Hopefully the date font will be correct by the time the rep makes its appearance. Cheers
  21. Can you post the pics here for us members who don't wanna be part of Repgeek
  22. My doctor has a rose gold ROO. He's a serious veteran collector. He loved my ROO. And he had no idea it was a rep. The dude you mention in your anecdote was bluffing (and he obviously won the round). There is no real difference in finish. My doc's rose ROO is finished the same. OEM is big frivolous $. A suspecting conoisseur will be: a. jealous b. wondering if your lifestyle can support such frivolous spending I wonder the same thing when I see dufuses in my city of Bentleys, Astons and Ponitac Fieros with Ferrari Body-Kits rockin' Jacobs, Pateks,, etc... SOme of these jackasses are frontin' bigtime, some are not. Personally, I am lucky enough to support my lifestyle despite my relatively still youthful age
