  1. Damn, I was hoping for less gaudy watches and more new items with understated elegance (the war against bling is a losing battle I guess). How about an IWC Mark XVI or a non-Cousteau 3548 Aquatimer?
  2. Really? Wow! I should get my Jumbos checked out, too. I wouldn't swim with them, but hangin' out in humid Asia in the summertime makes me worry a bit. Cheers
  3. Lovely! I hope I can get in on the next AR run for my Ingy crystal.
  4. Ubi, I've had a hundred and one thoughts as to how to mod the screws. I gave up. The watch looks great as is. Cheers PS. But if there was indeed a perfect and easy way to do this mod, I would of course join you in your venture
  5. Gorgeous watch! I am very impressed. Makes me wish that I did not sell my Laco a few years back. But then again, this watch is waaay better than the Laco! Cheers
  6. Poor GMT line! Poor Rolex. All good taste has been thrown out the window. Rolex is but a hollow empty shell of its former self. Sad really. And a shame, too.
  7. Patina is the way to go!
  8. So did Che. Both dudes wore 1675 onboard Granma and during invasion time. How plebian
  9. That is funny stuff. I kinda like the 50 pieces only Platinum Spitfire MK XII better
  10. Fascinating. On genuine vintage Rolex sports models, there is no crystal gasket. Pure pressure exerted by the tension bezel ring is all you need. Of course, the engineering tolerances with OEM is vastly superior to reps
  11. No gasket. The crystal is held down by pressure exerted by the crystal retaining ring (same as OEM). Cheers
  12. Hey Pug, in regards to the bezel paint: I don't think it's hard at all to do it. I am inexperienced with refinishing though. What I mean is, painting would be a cinch, sanding off the paint on the bezel markers might not be so easy. A nice matte flat black color would send this rep over the edge and make it a 'super rep' Pug, if you have had any ideas, let me know. Cheers
  13. Diego Maradona-style! PS. I just realized that you can also do the Maradona double Daytona, too
  14. Gorgeous watch, Avitt! I am very impressed with the silver. I think that I might have to add a silver dialed Daytona to the fold. Wow, what a watch... Part of what makes it so great is the amount of time, perserverance, and patience it takes to carefully collect/mod all of the appropriate parts. Finishing a watch like this is akin to savoring a lovely 1993 Pinot Noir. Maturation comes only via time & great effort sprinkled with a little good fortune. Enjoy your lovely timepiece! Cheers from your buddy Euno
  15. I am really impressed with your tube enhancement. A few of us have talked about modding a tube to fit a 24-700 crown... I've been afraid to do it. I have been looking for a genuine 24-7000 tube for years for my 5513. I'm going to remove the Twinlock and go Triplock. My '68 Sub needs to be totally hermetically sealed. Too bad since I've got a lovely NOS Twinlock crown sitting around... PS. Nice Daytona, and I formally welcome you to the V72 Daytona club!
  16. The genuine 3536 is approx. 38mm diamter minus the crown, approx. 42mm with the crown. The rep measures the same. Take a look at this auction link: http://www.ebay.com.my/viItem?ItemId=290123190224 Compared to the SD, the 3536 appears to be bigger. In fact, the 3536 is strange: overall it looks much bigger than it is. But it is in no way as heavy, large or thick as the mighty Ingenieur. Here are some quick pics compared to my genuine 5513, which is about the same size as the SD (but not as thick as the SD). Overall, like I said, it is nowhere near as big as the Ingeniuer. It is sized more like a 40mm Submariner. I would go out and buy the real thing right now if it was sized as big as the Ingeniuer. But since it is not, a rep is fine for me. Hope this post helps. Cheers from your buddy Euno
  17. OEM is 42mm including the crown, the rep is about 41.5mm withthe crown. I wonder if it's an easy job (for someone who knows) to repaint the black on the bezel with a matte black?
  18. As is, my bezel looks pretty good to me. This is a stunning piece that gets no respect. I posted these pics in an attempt to usurp the status quo and bring about Aquaempathy.
  19. Gorgeous pieces, Mr. Ubi! Fashionably late = not late at all -----> Welcome to the party!
  20. Mr. Ubi, Your collection is a sight to behold. What a fine assortment of great pieces. Outstanding watches! You are right about your comment in another thread: it appears that we might be pushing the envelope these days - Quality in quantity Cheers
  21. IWC Aquatimer 3536-02 Review In Pics It's funny to me that there's no love for the IWC Aquatimer 3536-02. Afterall, it's the one that started off the modern Aquatimer line. Sure, there was a vintage Aquatimer, but it is exceedingly rare and quite different than the modern iteration. Anyhow, the 3536 is one of the first modern attempts by IWC at creating a dive watch that most certainly was designed as a tool watch
  22. There is a subforum on Timezone that is dedicated to IWC.
