  1. Here's one of mine... A gift from a friend! What a lovely example of "Made In Shiterand"...
  2. What's not to love? It's the watch that started it all! This is the watch that folks first started scuba diving, surfing, snorkeling with... Why? Because it's built like a hermetically sealed tank. It is no wonder that the British Ministry Of Defence had the issued to the Royal Navy. And Comex used 5513 as a base watch to create 5514. After wearing many watches that I own, I still find the 5513 to be the perfect tool/sport watch. It is perfectly sized and weighted - and is supremely rugged. It remains a perfect execution of zen-like simplicity and balance. I am always astounded at how perfect this watch is. Yes, I love many others, but the 5513 holds a special place in my collection.
  3. The 1016 is a KILLER watch. I wish that I had been smart enough to pick a lovely one up back in the early '90s for less than $700. It came with papers & box... And it had a GILT dial. Once again this is a fine example of how amazingly dumb I am.
  4. Wow, interesting. It's a fast way to reduce the value of your watch! Looks neat though. James Dowling had a 5513 done in PVD with the dial turned around so that the crown was on the left side á la Sinn EZM1. Killer lookin' watch!
  5. Nice project, interesting & odd movement. Great stuff. You are lucky to just get a movement so that you don't have to experience the guilt of ripping out a V72 from a donor watch. Nothing is more blasphemous or shameful than to tear the heart out of a genuine vintage watch just to make a rep. I've made a few and before each surgical session, I've gone out to have a few shots with beers. You gotta pour out some liquor for the dead homies. By the way, I will not make any more of these Daytona frankens - it is ridiculous to own more than one, and it is too bad that we have single-handedly inflated the prices on all those fine V72 vintage chronos. My experience with the case parts is that nothing quite fits flush. You will need a sh*tload of patience. The 6263/5 franken game is not so simple as it initially appears. Take your time. Do it right.
  6. Switched to this... Full-function lovely Valjoux 72 chrono action; fully modded in all the problematic areas with OEM parts. Long sweeping seconds hand has been changed to a steel-colored white-tipped version since these pics were taken.
  7. Wow, that's an interesting & lovely watch. I bet that if you call the Yonkers Fire Dept, they could help you get the 'story' of the fellow the watch was given to. That would be amazing!
  8. Sh*t, I ate a hotdog and french fries this afternoon at OkiDog. It was terrible. I need to change my eating habits.
  9. Wow, I gotta get one of those. That would end the need to lug my toolbox around with me. I bet Bob has 2 already - one in his Land Rover, the other dangling from a belt loop (while slurping down a cool ale at a local Homer watering hole). Cheers
  10. Damn shame to hear that the ordeal ended so tragically. How very sad. Mr. Kim was a real man. His family came first and he set out to save his family's lives. http://www.cnet.com/ Rest in peace, Mr. Kim. Cheers
  11. I am curious as well. Any PAM experts care to chime in?
  12. You've got to get OEM, all aftermarket crystals have incorrect 1.5x date mag.
  13. I wish that I could do some business with him, but things move too quickly. The cops are always cracking down in Osaka's Koreantown. My connection sells legitimate items in a small shop there. But, all the good stuff is in his apartment a few blocks away. His place is filled with shelves of his goods - anything that you want! I just wanted to tell this story as it is quite interesting. I always have a blast drinkin' beers and Shochu lookin' and talkin' about all these replica items with the seller. I've been there so many times that he's shared with me how the items are actually brought into Japan... But there are some things that shall remain secret Next time I go to Osaka, I will talk to him.
  14. Looks very nice. But damn, way too expensive. It's funny how a top-tier Birkin rep would be priced ridiculously - just like a genuine Birkin. I'd pay $300 max. I'm glad that when I go to Osaka, I have a good Korean friend in Koreatown there who deals in thesetop of the line Korean masterpieces (at least the pricing is sane, way below $200). I guess if you are the middleman, you get excellent pricing. Too bad I go to Osaka every couple of years. *Glad I picked up a perfect (and I mean perfect) Kelly a while back for her *Paid 12,000 Yen with all the packaging!!
  15. White or silver are good. Rolex Service Centers still use silver if they happen to have a cache of them laying around - but more often than not, you'll be gettin' a white one on your 1675, 1680, datejust, etc... I can't wait 'til I can get my hands on one of these datewheels, gentlemen *hint *hint
  16. Well, what about his Pre-A 009? The dial markers and the font print looks spot on to me. Am I correct in assuming this? This dial looks perfect to me, is it?
  17. Damn, it's been a friggin' slooooooow week thus far! Where's the action? Where is all the gold hidden in the pots? How can fortune roll in so slowly? I am waiting for the elusive harnessing of reaped matter! Surely it must come my way before the week's end!! Anyhow, for me I have been wearing this lovely 1930's military pilot's watch: 22mm lugwidth 42mm diameter not including the crown 15J Micro-Stella Balance Movement as accurate as can be
  18. Well, if you have another one of those tubes that you'd like to sell, why not sell it to me! I really need a tube for my OEM 5513's original Twinlock crown system. It has never been upgraded to Triplock and I've got a NOS Twinlock tube sittin' around with no lady to mate with. I need what u got!!!!! I wish that I could find out what the original parts numbers were for this 7mm Twinlock system is. I have been searching for this info in vain for many years now.
  19. Well, old Pre-A semi-sandwiches are ok, just none of that new "H" stuff. What is the equivalent to the Pre-A 009 that is not PVD?
  20. Funny how a vintage Rolex fellow like me would be seeking some advice regarding PAMs... I have 2 PAMs, a 183 (that gets zero wristime since last year) and a 001 which I wear at least 4 days outta 7. I've been lookin' at watches for a while and I've decided that I'd like to get another PAM, perhaps one without running seconds. I don't want any chrono, date version or auto version. So that means I only want a PAM that has the Unitas (ETA) or Unitas Copy movement with a closed caseback. And I only want one in the 44mm Luminor case. So, can you guys recommend a Luminor with a correct crown, with C3 Luminova + correct coloring and perfect dial? I prefer older or historical as opposed to sandwich. And I want a closed caseback. Ok, to sum it up: - Unitas 6497 or asian Unitas only - closed casedback - non-sandwich - perfect dial (fonts, markers, etc) - C3 Luminova - excellent crown - 44mm Luminor case - sub-seconds or not ok - historical ok Can you guys help out an ol' pal?
  21. Kenberg, I might be interested. I'm thinking about black with silver/steel metal trim. Cheers
