  1. Some good news at last...!! we can have Ti CG's made at the same time as the SS. So maybe that news will help to swell the numbers a tad..! Mr Smith
  2. The story so far.. I have had a few members who have unfortunately 'revised' there initial requirement, that means we now need 3 or 4 'less' SS , So at the moment we have a grand total of 35 stainless wanted, and 6 Ti. I'm also still not totally convinced that everyone who has replied here saying they wanted CG's, has emailed me to confirm, as taking a quick check it looks like there is 4 or 5 who havent sent emails..!! So I can only assume they have also changed their minds..!! Bearing in mind the probability that not all 'intents to buy' will materialise, born out by what I've just said, and the changes to initial requirements already, 35 is about 'half' of the number of commitments I need, to be reasonably assured of getting 50 firm orders, so we still have a way to go before I feel confident enough to take it to the next stage. I should know later today about the Ti question, so will post as soon as I find out. Mr Smith
  3. Thank you Watcher, Yes I have that noted. Mr Smith
  4. My apologies for that, I assumed it was common knowledge that by clicking on the members name on a post, that it was a link to that member's profile, with contact details, including the ability to send an email. So my direct email address is as follows: smithspeed@aol.com Mr Smith
  5. I suggest you read the original post again, where you will find the following, Quote. "But if you are sure you would like to be in on this, send me an email to smithspeed@aol.com Please dont expect an answer back, at this stage I only want to count numbers of those who are serious about having one....or two..! I will also run this post on the the other Rep Forums, so please do not double up on emails, it will just mess up my numbers." Operative words in that quote being " Please don't expect an answer back"....!!!!!!!!!! Also while I'm the subject again..!! The only way you will be included in the count is to email me, I cant and wont take the time to try to match up requests on here to be included, with emails received, but after a quick check it looks like there are some who have done just that, ie, said they want one on here, but have failed to email me. The instruction was clear, read the extract from the initial post above. Mr Smith
  6. Hi, Okay time for an update I think. So far i have a grand total of 38 CG's confirmed by Email, plus an additional 6 if available in Ti. This falls substantially short of the number required for the project to move to the next level, which is authorising the manufacture of the prototype. So if there is anyone who has only shown their interest on RWG, can i ask you once again to email me. As I am only counting from emails received. The Titanium question has still to be answered as my contact has been unavailable this week, but he will be back on monday. As far as compatibility is concerned, I think the we should be matching them up with the most common Reps, which correct me if I'm wrong, will probably be those from Josh/Andrew etc. What might be a worthwhile excercise, would be to establish which other dealers supply the same case. Also regarding cases, I have a case and 2 CG's (obtained at different times) from Jimmy, The case and 1 of the CG's were to go to help with the manufacture of the our prototype CG. However on close examination, it's fairly obvious that Jimmy's case is different from the 2 Luminor's I have from Josh and Andrew. Also when fitting my first CG from Jimmy to my Luminor, it was offset to one side, with the knurling on the crown actually touching the inside of the CG. I had assumed this was an isolated case, until I received the 2nd CG 6wks later, it proved to be exactly the same, and on 2 different watches. Has anyone else experienced similar problems when fitting Jimmy's CG's to Josh/Andrew reps? My thinking here is that if it's a common problem, then Jimmy's cases may be tapped in a slightly different position from the other reps, which means the new CG's might require some modification to fit Jimmy's cases. Any other views on this welcome.. Mr Smith
  7. Hi, I will be asking my engineer, that very question this coming week, I dont see any reason why part of the overall number required for this initial run couldn't be in Ti, I would assume the setup and machining process will be exactly the same. I'll check it out anyway and post the answer. The response so far looks encouraging, it looks like we have about 24 required at the moment, but can i just remind you interested parties to email me please, to confirm your interest along with the number of CG's you would take. This is to enable me to have an easy check on the total needed, I'd rather not have to keep toting up from messages on the forum.. Thank you Mr Smith
  8. Hi I may appear to be a newcomer to the forum, but I am a contributor. However due to the 'sensitivity' of this project, I have decided to remain anon.. I have consulted with my good friend Mark (Finepics) on this project, so I'm sure knowing he is involved, should give you some degree of 'Assurance' . Anyway this has come about through frustration as to why nobody else has done it before now ..!! My Intention is to produce a run of 'Accurate' 'H Series Crown Guards' which according to Mark are also the correct CG's for some vintage models, I will confirm which ones when I can lay my hands on Mark's notes..!! The ground work has been done, I have an engineer standing by who works in Micro Engineering, has seen the appropriate drawings, photos of the CG, and is confident he can produce the complete assembly ie: CG, Lever and pin. We are going to make a Prototype, before the production run starts, but this is where I need your feedback. For this project to work, and before I fork out for a prototype, I need to know that I can count on orders for at least 50 CG assemblies. Then once I am satisfied with the prototype, I will post the photos of it, and will then ask for your promises to be turned into cash...!! The price for this 'Holy Grail' ....? I am sure we can do it for $99 delivered. not too big a price to pay. The 99% perfect rep, draws even closer.. Let me know your thoughts guys, here on the forum. But if you are sure you would like to be in on this, send me an email to smithspeed@aol.com Please dont expect an answer back, at this stage I only want to count numbers of those who are serious about having one....or two..! I will also run this post on the the other Rep Forums, so please do not double up on emails, it will just mess up my numbers. Mr Smith..!
