  1. Thanks for the advice Pete. Ordered from Panatime and arrived today. Damn quick service. The $20 shipping charge was way too annoying for just a couple of screws and bars so I had to pad the envelope out with a new strap ;-)

So how did the replacement lugs from Panatime fit your 288k? Could you please confirm if both the lugs and the lug screws from Panatime are a perfect fit on the 288k or not.

    Thanks

  2. Found this gen macro shot just now and remembered this thread.... its a 351 but all of these models have the same in house movement and DW so depth of DW is constant...

Thought it might help.. for clarification :)

That's a beautiful shot...Thanks for uploading it here.

My 328 too has a similarly recessed DW...I am glad the gen's recessed too....

  3. Yeah the AR'd cyclops is a step ahead but the dial is just too bad. It looks like it's flat green.

I am not sure why is this the case as there are much better dials, I've seen on existing LV reps.

Anyhow this is the first AR'd version so I am hoping the next one could possibly come with dial/bezel fix..... :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  4. The simplicity of the DateJust makes it a fairly easy watch to replicate in an accurate manner. The only change I would make to the actual watch itself is to put a genuine crown on it as the rep crowns are usually junk.

A few years ago, it was pretty cost effective to just build a DJ frankenstein using a genuine case and dial with an ETA inside; the total cost was not much more than some of the old TW Best reps. But the cost for gen case kits has gone up. Still doable, just more expensive...

This is simply stunning.....even though I am not a fan of dials with stick markers, this one is jumping out right at me....The color of the dial and the sunburst effect is just great....

  5. Thanks...

It's really a great looking watch... I only wish they had put in there a better movement... but for the money, it's still pretty amazing how much watch you get!

And the lume's very very nice too!

Any idea if it's possible to replace the stock movement with a Swiss 6497 without any modifications?

I would really like to buy a 292k for long term and would like to get one with no movement issues.

  6. Overall very good rep :thumbsupsmileyanim: , what I don`t like:

-CP is as usualluy bad. CP has to be flattened polished but on rep it is no good at all. Strange, I am the only one who is always complaining about rep PAM CP, but it IS for me VERY DISTURBING. Easy fix also , need new CP.

Interesting that most of you folks don`t care about CP what is very well and always visible... B)

    And CP...crap.

Puretime is offering a $60 upgrade on a polished ceramic 292 case that will fix CP and get superlumed hands and dial.

Is this upgrade worth the price? Does this CP fix bring it any closer to being a GEN?

  7. Thnx for all the input. I have a deal on a gen 45mm that gives me a 12 month payment plan without extra charges. Just a straigt downpayment. I have owned both the 42 and 45mm rep and i feel that the 45mm is the one for me, even though i have cinda small wrists. The 42 is just a tad to small for my taste. And i agree with previous speakers, you shouldnt buy stuff that you cant afford.. but i dont want to wait 12 months to get one..

Im also looking into a rep franken. I have not liked the AR and pearl on the reps and thats why i dont have any Planet Ocean reps anymore. But with thoose two problems sorted.. a franken might just be what i should look for...

I have seen a few frankens with gen crystals and gen insert. Even with these mods the cost should be around $1000.

Now the dilemma is to choose between a 1k franken or a 2k gen (slightly used but in VGC). :thumbsupsmileyanim:

  8. That's such a noble thought man.....Well done...

The watch looks pristine and I can only imagine what it would look like when it will be revealed

to your lucky son, several years from now.....the glistening Rolex will have become 'older' and

in this condition it would be such a treat to wear/own such a piece...

  9. Isn't the CHS movement not only the most problematic but the most expensive as well?

Yes, that's exactly what I've read across various forums.

I've also gathered that the best movement for a GMT Rolex is the rather prejudiced 21J.

They say it's most reliable with the GMT hand and if it breaks down you just replace it, very cheaply ofcourse.

However I've been thinking of the Asian clone with the wrong hand stack but now I am totally confused.

I guess I'd just spring for one soon as it's not expensive with either of these two movements.
