  1. This is not the newest/ best version available. The CG on the newest one has serious corners inside. I didn't look at all at the rest of the watch once I saw it's the old CG.
  2. Tried it . It won't stay on. Thanks though.
  3. I received this from Angus today and it made some pretty bad rattling sounds. Duct taped the CB and here I am. Fixable or send it back. I know nothing. A quick step by step?
  4. This is the best CG I've ever seen. I'm blown away. Congratulations. Now off to order one and sell my gen.
  5. If you like the watch enough to keep, definitely. If you're not really sure if it's worth it to you to invest any more money in it, you could put it up for sale here. You'll get a little $ back without spending more and a lot of guys here like fixing movements so someone will take it.
  6. Why oh why can't we get a perfect rep of these? I had to finally bite the bullet and get one in my collection, and I have to say, it's tough to take off. Anyone know where to get rep rubber with PVD buckle?
  7. I just sent 3 to The Zigmeister for full servicing. 1 wouldn't wind, 1 had the date stuck between 2 dates and the other's PR was about 4 hours when not wearing it. Cost me $550 but all 3 run great now and I don't expect issues. Normally I chuck them but these were all within 6 months old. I agree with above that the newer reps look great but have way more issues. I never serviced any of my old stuff and only ever had 1 issue in around 25 watches.
  8. I do think it's interesting that on virtually all the important shots the gen is in sharp focus and the rep is blurred. For me, the dial stuff is meaningless. Until they nail the CG they are obviously reps from a mile away. Flush with no gaps at the lever please!
  9. I fixed it. There is a spring but it's pretty weak. I took the CB off with duct tape, a rubber ball after gooning the back pretty good with needle nose pliers. I pushed the pusher out and it is OK if you sort of halfway depress it. As soon as you push it all the way it clicks and stays in. I'll have it looked at when I send it to Rob for a service. Thanks guys!
  10. I guess there is no spring in mine. I assume the potential water damage issues are huge now.
  11. Ok, mine has arrived today and it looks pretty good. The stitching on the carbon strap would be a dead giveaway and the red paint on the hands looks a bit too red. Anyone know if the faux pusher is supposed to be push able? Mine is now stuck depressed. It went in like butter and just stayed. Suggestions?
  12. Can anyone tell me the difference between the 2 3799 models on Josh's site? There is a $130 difference but the description is pretty much identical. http://www.1-pc8838.com/pliot-series-c-106_214.html Thanks!
  13. I'm no fan of the brand and have never owned one but that's mostly because of the snob in me. They are too common and generally owned by people who know little about watches. But I have held several and they are nothing like a Swatch in any sense. They are a nicely designed and built watch. You could name 100s of high-end brands that are owned by companies that also own low-end brands. It doesn't make them comparable.
  14. Thanks guys. But it looks like plan B is next. Now to find some tutorials to try to install it myself. Edit: it just occurred to me I need to deal with dial and hands. Forget the DIY.
  15. I lent a friend my 177 without a winding lesson and I suspect he wound it backwards and the stem is now out. I can still wind it and it's fine with CG on but can't change the time as it will simply slide out without the CG. If it's a threading issue there doesn't seem to be a way to get it to engage. Is this something a clumsy person with a small screwdriver and no experience can fix or is this a good opportunity to buy the platinum movement since I will need to send it out anyway? Thanks!
  16. Rep owner getting snobby about watches?
  17. He claims 6497. I'm considering this watch now. Damn!
  18. Its the rounded inside corners of the CG that are a tell for me. Beyond CG issues it's amazing.
  19. No PVD, it's full ceramic. That's why this is interesting. Ordered mine today.
