  1. Worst case if its not good you don't have to buy it, I just picked up a 3.5 from PT and everything looks fine. It all comes down to the cartel no being able to source watches from the NF, and because of that anything noob that has to be procured directly from the factory these guys are out of luck.

I guess the old saying what comes around goes around.

  2. Here's a few new pics, all polished up and new bracelet installed... I hate to say it but the 7836 just wasn't cutting it, was the weak link for my build and very flimsy for gen. I lucked out on this NOS 78360 bracelet with some 580's in good condition. For around 2k it would be hard pressed to find this watch in gen form (condition wise) for under 5k, I think I can find a good way to spend the rest although the 1675 is my all time fav and if I found the right gen I'd be all over it.

    Whatcha think???

  3. I have the prototype noob 2013 sub and it already runs rings round the quality of the bp!!!

It needs modding to be close but that's nothing new.

The gen crystal fits perfectly and there is no need to use the bp gasket as the noob is perfectly repped dimensionally.

The case is better and more crisply finished and the bracelet is excellent like the noob exp quality.

Cg's are better and the crown is nice whereas bp is poor on these parts!

Here is a quick pic to give an idea. Hopefully the finished product will impress us more than the bp and prototype model. I have a gen crystal fitted and a wm9 v3 dial with bp markers and hands.

That pearl and DWO look very gen-like compared to the BP... I agree in terms of looking the part from a few feet away the BP is good, however, the finishing touches of the noob show a much better build quality. If they could just tweek the insert and dial/markers they can have what we all strive for "The Best Sub" ..... Very nice....

  4. Nice job, I've done a few inserts one of the last I sold to DCpark.

When PBdad had my watch he asked what did I use for the paint mod as he had Blue Rockets DSSD gen insert in hand and said the paint mod was as close to gen as he's ever seen.

This is a tricky mod to get right, if you look at the gen texture its almost a sandblasted look with a sparkle effect as we all know. I used touch up paint to do my mods personally, I used two Acura colors in a White Diamond Pearl and a Platinum Metallic, mix the two parts 60 PM/40 WDP and apply with the supplied touch up brush that has been cleaned before use. Be sure to apply in a smooth motion to keep the paint from clumping up, and dont use too much.

Just a fine layer so the paint sits low inside the engraving, and then place the insert in the microwave for two minutes and then remove the excess with a razor blade.

  5. any recommendations where to get a classic sub? or does classic mean gen in your ears?
evo, how does the BP hulk sub compare to BK's? The insert looks metallic. Ythink either of them can accept gen dials?
I think the big pilot maker insert looks better, however, the color is still of on both bk and bp makers insert... I'm sure the gen dial would fit, with that being said it will be a shame to possibly have to clip the feet depending on the movement choice. Like frogman said you could always have the watch modded, just depends on that you like. The most accurate subs do not use a bk case as its for the gmt master, smaller lugs and cgs. You could consider a bk tw sub or a tc, both are based on the 16610 and can take almost any gen part you like. I've heard the noob maker will offer a sub c, if they can get the dial and case correct I think we know the quality that can come from their hands. Let's just hope they don't rush it like the exp2 ;)
  6. If you want more accurate to gen the new bp maker sub c is a pretty good offering over bk's sub c. Bp maker pros -more accurate case (lugs and cg's) -glass lens over pearl ring -larger dial markers with thin outer ring -more accurate paint on bezel markers (platinum effect) -ar cyclops -correct hr hand thickness -better bracelet Bp maker cons -ceramic insert not pressed correctly -crystal height when insert is pressed may be too high (unless you swap gasket) -officiallycertified spacing Sure bk has better quality control, however, his has no super-case, no ar, no lens over pearl, smaller dial markers with thick rings, thick hr hand just to name a few concerns. I think the bp has much potential or just wait for the noob offering in the coming months and then choose.

  7. The usual issues so far, lume is overfilled and flowing over the rings... Seven Oclock ring isn't filled enough, thats why the ring looks thicker, sel fit is poor at 12 and slightly better at 6.

One member stated the cornet has zits which is fairly normal for the noob dials under close inspection.

Just all comes down to how picky you are, I would reject it if it were me.

    Good Luck

  8. Hmmm, if you are talking about the brand new pre order for the noob explorer it isn't in stock. Angus said it would be the 24th before any qc pics could be taken of the Asian and a few more days for Swiss versions. Keep in mind that's if there are no more delays...
