  1. I was in Hong Kong last November '05 and all I can say is you will do much BETTER dealing with our dealers here. I was in HK/Beijing for 10 days, and spent a fair amount of free time shopping. The majority of reps for sale will be pretty shitty reps...I was apalled by how many bad reps people would show me...I probably saw over a couple thousand watches while I was there and I only picked up a SS Sub for a decent price for a friend. Similar eta SS we would get from EL or our other dealers. I've picked up over 30+ eta reps from EL and other dealers, and we really do get the best stuff here for a fair price. I was on the hunt because I was convinced I could do better, but 98% of the dealers you will run into will have CRAPPY REPS...the 2% will still have 95% crappy reps with a couple decent Pams and Rollies...but overall it was a waste of time.

In Shenzhen, you can buy tons of other reps...I found some AAA Louis Vuitton and Dunhill luggage reps after wasting 15+ hours shopping around. Remember, there are all kinds of grades, and you have to be insistant on telling them the best. They will have runner after runner bring sample after sample...In the end, I found what i was looking for.

On a side note, DEFINITELY have Sunday brunch at the Intercontinental...it's absolutely ridiculous...i'm not sure if I ate 6 lobsters like Clive, but I did a fair amount of damage across the board. The food in HK is amazing if you do your research before going.

  2. Couldn't hold out any longer, pulled the trigger on the 212 swiss from fast eddie...should be here next week, i'll supply comments since no one has on the swiss version.

i know about the minor flaw with the ticks pointing in instead of out and the plastic spacer in the back(i'm going to see if The Zigmeister can replace it with a metal spacer...

can't wait...i also ordered another surprise watch... :victory:

  3. The 231a(swiss) is awesome...just got it from EL 2 days ago. Fit and finish is top notch, Wolf's pics of his influenced this buy. I'm going to pull the trigger on EL's swiss 212...I wish they would have improved on the plastic spacer on the back, but I don't plan on taking off my watch for other inquiring eyes.

Anyone else have the 212 swiss? I want a little feedback before pulling the trigger

  4. I'm going to grab the Swiss Automatic version...It sounds like everyone is happy with all 3 versions, and I rather get the swiss than the asian then spend the extra $$ to service it...where the swiss auto should be good to go from the beginning.

are there any other flaws or differences...and who has one of the swiss autos that can comment?

    thanks

  5. Interesting post...i'm thinking about grabbing the Swiss 212 from Eddie...it is expensive, but so was the Swiss Daytona and the Swiss 196.

With there being 3 different versions, what are the major differences besides the movements? I know some of the members are getting ready for AR Saphires to swap out, but is the Swiss worth it? I'm pulling the trigger in the next few days on a multi watch order and this 212 swiss is at the top of my list.

    Thanks. :victory:
