  1. Fly in the ointment....? Not at all Brother. I've not actually seen the cases from "you know who" first hand but it's not likely this is one of them. Here's some better pictures. And "E"...how's that for perfect stem alignment...(if the stem hole in the mvt. shows well enough)
  2. Thanks for the input and info guys. I really appreciate it. The owner sent me pics asking if I could identify the dial. I "really" appreciate the help
  3. Thanks brother. And the indications that point this dial as being a "yuki" are..............??
  4. Just thinking out loud here but wouldn't it be fairly easy to open up the 2 center links in the Jubi and the bar guides on the end pieces by .1mm-.2mm ??
  5. Thanks guys. You're right "E"...I should have uncased the mvt first The TC is perfectly intact. If I put the SA3135 with gen dial into the TC, will the TC 2824 (and TC dial) fit the TW case is what I'm needing to know. The SA3135 is just a future planned project but if I do it I'll have the TC guts.....and am hoping they'll work in the BK TW
  6. Can anyone help me identify this dial for a friend please??
  7. I was pulling the gen crystal out of the BK TW and my press cup gave way when pressing the stock TW crystal back on. OUCH !!!!! The press ball came through, smashed the crystal and jammed the hands. (actually the seconds hand gear was damaged...and after I got finished being an expert watchsmith the friggin' mvt. is toast..but I now know a little more.than I did before I started...and I may very well get that A-Clone 2836-2 working with the help of the levers from the keyless works of the TW mvt.....but who knows... Here's my question.... Will the guts from a TC fit into a BK TW ?? I've been planning to drop a SA3135 and gen dial into the TC one day along with the gen bezel assembly....I'm hoping I can just use the TC guts in the TW...but I'm not an expert on this sort of thing. Will it work....and if so what will be involved in doing the transplant ?? Also...regarding the primary topic of this thread......IMHO, the TW is a very good Sub rep...great quality...attention to detail...and built by a master....BK IS INDEED a MASTER.... but comparing cases, no doubt the TC 16610 is a much better case and offers more (and easier) options to build a Super Franken. CG's and crown height are notibly better on the TC. KUDOS to BOTH BK and TC for bringing us the best and then better yet...we DO appreciate ALL you've done for the community. I've never seen a Sean case...but I can't imagine it being any better overall than the TC
  8. Stem aligment is perfect Of course I won't be able to show that until the 24-7020 tube arrives next week. I've purchased 2 crowns with the 702 style coronet and turns out they're both 702 crowns.....so I picked up a new 702 tube on VRF. (the Phong 703 with early style coronet looks awesome...but it's more like 4.1mm thick...gen is 3.7mm ) If anyone has the early 703 7mm crown for the 16800 I'd be happy to trade off a 702 in mint condition for it
  9. I just had a conversation with the seller of the 16800 case regarding it's origin. He's a semi-retired gemologist/jeweler and currently a very skilled watchmaker. In owning a jewelery shop over the past 18 years he's made some pretty "unique" friends/associates. And as a professional jeweler, a few Italian, high quality sterile replacement cases were made available to him. These cases were never made abvailable to the general public as they were produced for gen owners needing a replacement case that was no longer offered by Rolex or RSC's. I am very pleased to find that the gen dial and Cal.3035 dropped right in as they should.
  10. I've got an excellent case for this brother. Something about production in germany a few years back. But until I confirm the true origin of this case I'm gonna kept that on the DL.... The 3035 and the gen dial fit it like a glove.... I'm curious...how did seeing this gen 16800 assembly convince you yours is a old 16610..??
  11. I know the feeling brother. With a Franken TC 16610 I didn't really "need" another Sub. But then I got to looking at the build Red was doing...and poof...I dove in.
  12. Yeah...that patina trit looks pretty vintage Brother. IMaybe too patina'd but the entire assembly came at a great price for me so I went for it. (and I've got a spare gen tritium pearl to exchange if it turms out looking a bit mis-matched for the dial.)
  13. In my 100% Noob opinion I'm thinking it looks very tall too but won't know for sure until I install the dial. Any logical reason it would be too tall...as in did the 3035's go into other cases needing taller pinions to clear the dial ??
  14. Opinions needed on pinion height. I'm still gathering parts for the project and I'm certainly no expert but are the pinions supposed to be this tall on a 3035 for a 16800 ?? Eyeballing it I'm guessing the hour hand will be sitting over 1mm about the dial. Is this correct??
  15. Excellent B-Day present for yourself brother. I've gone nutz with getting this project gathered up. Cal.3035 was a compulsive purchase and now.... a complete gen bezel assembly that came off a 16800 in 1986
  16. Very nice teeth. But here's what I've learned with mine. 1 - it has no flat tension spring washer but after cleaning the excess machining particles from the inner teeth and tweeking the click spring (very long style spring) has a nice rotation and precise click. 2 - my Clark bezel ring wouldn't correctly fit my WM9 v2, BK TW, TC or gen retaining rings. 3 - mine allowed a perfect fit of a gen insert with the help of a press...very nice feature...no more shaving insert bottoms 4 - but mine wouldn't fit the bezel ring to the crystal ring with a gen insert installed....retaining ring was about .75mm too tall 5 - mine fit the TC case and gasket by hand...no press needed...meaning the ID on mine was a tad too big There are of course variations from bezel to bezel but these were the findings of mine. For the price (and a little work) it's a great looking/functioning bezel....much closer to gen in appearance than the WM9, TW or TC bezel rings.
  17. They are indeed elusive. After alot of searching...and alot of thought I decided not to ruin a good gen date wheel or gen dial by clipping the feet. The sollution to these problems arrived today. So all I need to complete the head is a set of tritium hands to match the dial. A gen 93150 with 593's and I'll be on my way Pics of the parts pile comming sometime this week. Thanks for all the help and info guys.
  18. BEAUTIFUL JOB Red !!! Your build has been my inspiration. I simply LOVE your build brother !! CONGRATS and THANKS for sharing
  19. Thanks guys for sharing the info regarding this bezel assembly. Gary just shot an email with tracking number. When it arrives I'll do my best to compare it to the other various bezels I have on hand..... WM9 v2, BK TW, TC's and a gen assembly.
