The closest thing I have found to fit in an old SSD case is a gen crystal or a286 crystal.. Can't use the gasket with it and needs to be glued. This always made me nervous. If there can be a group buy for custom made crystal to fit, out of real sapphire with the correct beveling and no LEC as well as being able to fit a gasket for a mechanically sound seal, then we can revive thousands of SSD V1/2 cases. Just saying. May be easier more cost effective as well as physically more sound to do a group buy for a custom crystal. The new BPSD has a great crystal, so the potential is there.

I have one of these at home. His name is Brutus. The wrinkles on the face allow for the flow of blood to be away from the eyes in battle. These dogs were impressive battle animals. Imagine the average man being 5'5" at the time and maybe 135lbs. These mastiffs can go to an average of 165-170.
Of course every breed is different and you can control the wrinkles and the volume of wrinkles with breeding. Take a look at this picture and see the same dog from a couple of millennia ago. Photo courtesy of the internet.
What do you mean by groove on the retainer ring? The only grove the retainer ring should have for that model(if the retainer is the better one) is none. If the watch is built like gen the retainer gasket should reside on the case end. No wire spring for the gen like assembly.
Hahaha. Instigator. Yes, not bad at all for the money. Will play around with the blackening of the case. Still like the Athaya HL much better, but this one is smaller and cost effective. Needs a lume job and oiling. Not crazy about the auto 7750 in it, but it came with it.
Has been a looooong search to get this. Still need hands lumed and the case profile tweaked a bit. Still waiting to finish the 9315 strap.
@OP,
Takes time indeed. As you have read, aim for a particular model/look/sample and go for it. You will be soooooooo tempted to buy parts for a "similar" watch (but not the ones you really want to get) and the trick is staying focused on the end goal.
Enough hijacking.

The best suggestion is to read, read, read then look at pictures of what you think the ultimate piece is and aim for that. Ask questions and most of all, be patient. Figure out your budget is, then multiply it by 2.5 to be safe. It adds up quick. You will get it wrong at first, but the rewards are always your knowledge gain and the pursuit of what perfection is to you( which more often than not is subjective). Enjoy!
