US over England in their opening match. Contrary to belief, us Yanks are pretty pumped up for this World Cup. Landycakes doesn't have much of a defense behind him, but our group isn't all that strong. Sweet 16 for the US side?
With Drogba's injured elbow, thinking Torres will win the Golden Boot. Don't count out Cisse though, he had a strong season in Greece!
Good luck to everyone in the Forum and the Countries you are rooting for!!
/Spain to win it all.

Great watch! Have had my eye on it for a while now. Here in the U.S. the white G-Shock has been a very popular summer accessory.
Enjoy your new purchase.

I am purchasing a wedding gift for my best friend's bride to be. Although a rep would be nice, a new Gen $500-$750's is in order. Any brand or model recommendations?

If the glass caseback was broken, chances are that fragments are interfering with the balance or wheels. A service will set it straight.
Caseback wasnt broken in pieces, just a very long hairline crack. Good point on the servicing. I am going to need to do that anyhow right? Think it's a good idea to just have it serviced here in the US for like $60's or return the watch?

I've had my new PAM 112 H with the Chinese 6497 movement about a week. It was shipped from Silix with a cracked case back, issue generously being resolved by one of our admins Dluddy. [Topic link]
So, after deciding not to ship the watch back to Silix, thought it would be a good time to start wearing it. Wound the watch for the first time very slowly until the crown was semi-tight and it worked fine for a few minutes. Now the watch has stopped working all together. I am getting a 1-3 second response (starts to move) after a vigorous shaking- then it stops again.
Any suggestions?

Hi all you knowledgeable posters! Well there was no resolution with the dealer, Silix, other than to send the watch back (they'd pay for return shipping) & get a refund. So, I have opted to take Dluddy up on his generous offer to ship over a case-back. You all are quite right, this might be a good opportunity to test out some of my newbie craftsmanship, and help my overall watch knowledge grow. Maybe this is also the start of stepping into the hobby rather than just being a curious bystander.

This post is only to help me gather some insight on what is expected from a seller and buyer post transaction.
Sucks being a semi-noob, having an issue with your first purchase.
That was a very nice gesture from Dluddy, however I will have to graciously decline until the exchange/return has some resolution from the dealer.
Taking all of your advice into account I have proposed that the dealer:
-Send me a new caseback, dealer pays shipping, & credit the repair/replacement costs from watch smith.
-Send a prepaid shipping label for exchange and send a replacement watch express shipping at dealers cost.
-Send a prepaid return shipping label; refund the full amount of watch + shipping.

[mods this might be in the wrong area, if so please recategorize, sorry]
My new PAM 112 arrived today with some damage. I am turning to the forum for advice on the sellers proposed resolutions for the watch's defect.
Upon receiving my new PAM, there is an issue with the crystal case back. The watch was well protected in double bubble wrap & secured in the package with no external damage noticable. That said, there is a hairline crack in the back crystal that runs almost 180 degrees around (half moon shape), appx 1mm parallel to the steel casing. Pics will be posted in the next day or two, I do not have access to a digital camera at the moment.
The seller has offered two solutions:
"1st: we will give you 5% discount for your next order
2nd: we ship you a new caseback, but you have to pay for the shippment cost. but the precise is when we see the pic and confirmed the crystal back has a crack."
My concerns:
I've already paid $XX's to ship the watch the first time. It's going to cost me to ship a replacement caseback?
Once the caseback arrives, i'll need to take it in for someone to service/replace it for me. I don't know how much it will be to have them do the work, but this is all starting to add up.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Regards,
Rob
Thanks for all of your time!

You are correct sir. We have ourselves a winner. I'm not sure how I missed that. You have a keen eye for detail! I'll be donating $10 to RWG as per my review above. It's a small price to pay for the amazing advice and great reviews RWG has provided to me over the past to years. Congrats Polo!

Thanks Nick! Your donation will alleviate some of the guilt I had for being a "free loading" forum user. Glad I could finally contribute something useful.
Again, nice watch, wear it well!

Nice reviews by both you and Swatchman!
Noticable flaw in your The Montblanc Sport Chronograph (Dial):
Dial has one small visible impefection. The "L Swiss Made L" is slightly lower in position on the GEN compared to the Rep. On the gen, the top of L lines up with the triagle hour markers. On the reps, the bottom of the L lines up with the triangle hour markers.

The Montblanc's surely aren't getting the attention they deserve. I've had my eye on the 43mm Chronograph Automatic (picture attached from Silix's site), beauty of a watch. Does anyone own this watch? It'd be great to see a detailed review.

So. I finally pulled the trigger & ordered a 112 from Jay & Angel at Silix.
Asked a local watch smith for re-lume pricing where he quoted me $55 USD for the hands & said it'd take 2 weeks. Is that a fair price? If not, how much should I be paying?
Relume Hands- $
Relume Dial- $
Is there a specific Lume I should ask for? Any details would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking to purchase a PAM 00112, steel, black dial, asian movement, crystal front & back, black strap.
Trying to find a dealer at $110-$125 price point. Yes, I know what I'm getting for my money (not the best out there). I really just want something functional & aesthetically pleasing.
Other Models I would consider:
Marina 005, 111, 113, or 177
Base: 112
Already took a peek at some trusted RWG recommended store-fronts.
Joshua's site: quality & price point were out of my budget's reach.
Jay & Angel: contemplating purchase
Military: great prices, watches just weren't for me
Any other sites you'd suggest?
Thanks,

She's a beauty!

No more "p****s88"?? OK, then someone link me to King or Eddie please. Looking for a 111H with the crosshatch black strap if at all possible, no rubber sticky arm hair for me please.

Hey all, time to buy my PAM finally. Is joshua's website offline?

Its not a complete waste. Most people who will identify that your watch is a fake could also identify 90% of the watches that you see here as fakes. I will try not to focus on the negative and more on the positive. You could practice luming your dial, removing the case back, dissasembly and re-assembly, see if its the right size watch and style for you. IMHO reps are crap anyways and require a significant amount of money to bring them up to par. Your going to pay decent $$$ to buy one already modded that will fool some people at a glance. I think its a good price to pay for a learning curve before you move onto the next step. A lot of members here got scammed for hundreds and have a shitty rep to show for, so consider your self lucky that you have some insight and didnt spend $500 for the same type of POS watch. Just remember a rep is a rep, and if you took a MBW fully modded watch to a dealer he would tell you it was crap too.
I totally agree with that. I will indeed buy a "nice" rep in a few months but as a starter watch to check out the feel & toy with i think the $30.00 was justified. This might be a new hobby taking this one apart & tinkering. RWG is full of great insight so I'm sure i'll be mighty busy learning on this watch as i go. Better to make cheap mistakes than expensive ones right?
Thanks!

So. I have been debating on buying a "nice" replica for over a year now not willing to pay out the coin just yet. Solution? Well I came across this one 28 days ago and heckled down to $30.00 USD. Thought it would give me a good opportunity to test the waters by wearing this one for a while checking out the compliments and deciding if I really liked the size of the PAMs.
What is the model this is supposed to best represent I cant find anything? What movement do I have?
OBVIOUS FLAWS:
TACHYMETRE on outside CHRONO readys TACHMETRE
Inside CHRONO some numbers are upside down
Luminor green is very faint in darkness
Crown is tiny
UPSIDES:
It hasn't lost a minute in over a month!
Date wheels work
*I've beat the heck out of this watch-no scratches on the glass or band thus far
Well ladies & gents your feedback on all aspects are grately appreciated. Pick this bad boy apart. Oh, compliments on my minimal investment are always welcome too.

Well...I'll keep doing my research into the PAMs & Omegas waiting for that day when i lay my $money$ on the line for an EDUCATED buy. Until then-thank you all so much for the effort on getting things up and running again.
