  1. good to know...
  2. TT... do you think we need to still have this thread open? Are you going to be removing posts all day long? Was not enough what we have heard and discussed? What are you waiting for? some unnecessary pictures? This is something to solve (if not already done) between two parts... I'm with vbarret... I have you TT in great consideration... close this and let's move to another more interesting topic... what about my franken projects?
  3. mmm... at very first sight, two easy to spot flaws: no gold in the sides of the end links, and open 9 in a modern model... after this, crown guards are way off (not even close to what you get today in cheap reps). Playing cards means your colleagues will have the chance of a close inspect... most of the people (except WIS) know about these flaws... but... I wouldn't take the risk
  4. From roling, on eBay (case and dial) Fro the crown, you many sources in eBay... just wait to find one in the gen pack or that the seller knows the reference he's selling...
  5. Thanks Tribal... but I didn't make the job... it was my watchmaker (after a short training how to deal with reps ) They are not used to work on reps and don't know the tricks we know... my first personal project will be a DJ 16214... this one will done 100 by me once I receive missing tools and spare parts...
  6. It happens in gens also (I have gen DJ's)... rolex is not 100% perfect always
  7. A new project to build another of my favorites models: datejust with smooth bezel... this time a more modern model (16214): What do I have today?: Gen case + tube (btw) Gen dial Gen crown Waiting for: Tudor hands Silix ETA datejust to use movement, spacer and bracelet. Spare parts pics:
  8. My second MBW, now from TTK... after 1st modding phase: Gen crown and tube Noob dial Noob bracelet Noob date overlay Second phase on the way: genuine insert and pearl... Please, feel free to comment (not about pics, I know, very bad but taken very fast) ... thanks:
  9. Go for it stephane... I did with mine and if you are a picky (like me) then you can't stay with an unacurate bracelet... difficult to align spring bars but it worth the effort.
  10. I had similar problem and what I did was ensuring not placing the diver extension at the last hole of the clasp. Place it in any of the other previous ones and it must work. Pics to solve my poor language skills:
  11. Wow wow wow.... I only need a gen movement to have also a perfect DJ... too bad too expensive
  12. I haven't had the opportunity to try the gen, but since they have similar movement and materials. weight must be quite the same...
  13. ETA is the brand of the swiss movement (in case you want a swiss movement instead of an asian one). I'm not sure about the price of the gen but won't be far from 2000 USD.
  14. If you can live without ETA and without AR, try the Asian version from any dealer. But my personal opinion is that this watch is one to keep "forever", so it worth the extra money having the full version.
  15. Neil... first of all, hope you're doing better... seems to be None disagree that there are certain costs the dealer support, and that's the reason we can't expect prices from them like buying the thing directly. Being said that, this happens to all item you buy in the world, so you can't take in account that to buy a tropical fruit you have to think that you're saving the flight to Cuba and the hotel and staying costs... Also the dealer must obtain a profit. What I'm talking about is that we are paying 400 USD for watches some one else get for half of the price sometimes. And even worse, watches that are produced for 80 leave the factory to be sold for another 400. I started in this rep world as an aficionado) near three year a go, and nobody can tell me that the price increase is justified by the quality enhancement. Not at all... improving CG's in subs is the biggest improvement so far... ok, some dials are better and you can expect real ETA inside. But is not justifying doubling price. Going even further... we all know that cartel practices exists, we all know who are the dealers involved... not only W9 has a site for his own... some others also, but stay hidden.
  16. I couldn't agree more with Manuel... I know there is an agreement to restrict access to certain models and even more, to sell them under a limit or the dealer will not be able to access watches from certain factories anymore. I have friends traveling to China and Thailand and prices of watches (same we have from dealers), pens, t-shirts, bags, etc are some times up to 10 times less. I can't imagine buying a teeshirt for 30$ when you have it for 3$.
  17. 16213 franken: gen case, crystal, dial, crown, tube... eta2824, tudor hands, true 18K TT bracelet...
  18. I'm also with Pug.. first time reped and 99% accurate...
  19. Clever guy Next time I'll try it if bending is not an option.
  20. Same problem with the two MBW 16610 I had. It took me hours to finally bend correctly new spring bars to install a noob bracelet.
  21. I'm with you...
  22. No pic of te date window.
  23. I'm going to try this afternoon guys... let's see if my skills are good enough... thanks a lot for helping out
