  1. After he remade his site I can't find same amount of parts for sale. Is he only selling aftermarket crystals nowadays or does he still sell eg hands and inserts "behind the counter" so to speak..?
  2. Should have been at that auction, no doubt about that! Hard to take something out - but find It hard not to love the case profiler of the 6202 and the 5508
  3. If you ask these questions, is it then really worth $1000 spent on a gen dial and movement mods? Imo, the noob is fantastic. Start with buying that, and if you can tell the difference between the noob and the gen dial - then make the investment. You can also send it on to Goin/Marlin later
  4. ...and suddenly the question changed from "who will win?" to "which one of cc33's builds will win?"
  5. Congratulations on a very nicely executed build! Love that casework and nothing beats superdome distortion! Mine says hi Btw, if that hands set happens to be gilt I'd be very happy to take it off your hands
  6. I have drool all over my keyboard. PM sent.
  7. And my name is Per and I'm also a vintage addict. Have 20 projects completed, and 6 ongoing/planned (the truly addictive art of parts hoarding!). You're right, admitting helps, but have no hope (or wish) yet of full recovery. Really glad to have you onboard in the club, we need to support eachother!
  8. 24-600 for the 1016, so 6 mm.
  9. Mmmm, pcg gilt chapter ring... You should have been five years older!
  10. Yes, and then you can scroll back even longer and see that his 036 went into production six months ago... I of course also would like to buy these tomorrow, but maybe we should give rolli some time to perfect these too
  11. Think you can sit back and wait until spring 2015 with that question...
  12. Great work on your first build, like it! How did you reshape it? Dial and hands aging is a true art form and you'll only get better with practice. I'd recommend you to keep sanding down the crownguard a bit more so you get rid of the engravings (if you want it to look more vintage and less fantasy for some reason - otherwise skip lol!).
  13. Pardon me saying so, but I have never understood this argument that you repeat here now. Aren't references to other brands/models fairly irrelevant? Should I thread crap all sales on forums and state - "for this money, I can get a GEN Fossil/Seiko/G-shock/Iphone" whatever..? E.g, if someone is selling a heavy franken vintage Daytona, all gen form worth similar to a Ferrari but parts worth also being like gold in the bank - is it relevant how much a shitty gen entry model like the Pam 111 costs? But yes, that watch over at RWI is crazy overpriced to get back on topic
  14. Btw, higginsd has given you fully correct info on eta/oem IWC. Before you later start thinking about putting funds into movement upgrade, be aware that opinions on the quality of the a7750 vary. Be sure to search around and read up on eg these two threads: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/120049-a7750-vs-eta-7750/ http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/146164-why-i-love-the-asian-7750-and-i-think-it-does-not-get-enough-credits/
  15. On some movements such as the 7750 the date wheel is engaged for an extended period of time during the date changeover. This period can start well before 12:00 and end well after 12:00. It does not have an instant clickover like the other ETA calibres. If you change the date manually while the date wheel is engaged with the movement, you may cause damage. Just to be safe, it's a general rule not to try and change the date of any watch during the midnight hours. On a 7750 you "won't be able to" and forcibly doing so will break the date change gear. The hour wheel goes around 24 hours and drives another gear with a single pin or protruding tooth. In other words this tooth will engage a gear once every 24 hours. What happens at midnight, the tooth engages a gear on the day wheel and depending on the movement design another gear with a similar tooth engages the date wheel. With the 2824 and the 2892 (and most other quicksets) the single tooth that advances the date wheel is sprung so the it will retract when the date wheel is forced over it. It will generally hang up requiring the time to be advanced 24 hours to clear the fault. The fixed tooth date advance movements like the 7750 are the ones where especially important not to set date "between 8 and 4"
  16. Not an error mate, common sense based that would apply also if you're buying the gen.
  17. Ok, those aren't Big Pilots anymore... Without talking about the models, I'd just recommend you to not pay $500 extra for a "swiss" 7750. Imho, not worth it.
  18. "No Recessed Date" means that it has a recessed / slightly sunken datewheel. Maybe it's a relative description. The version with a fixed power reserve indicator is the one to get I'd say.
  19. Lovely plexi profile indeed [emoji106] Any hints on what you're planning to do with this..?
  20. Rare bird indeed with that dial! How does one separate service from non-service t25? Am looking at one in one of those sealed plastic bags with red text for like $400...
  21. Magnificent strap. Am looking for a 27mm strap for my Welded lug project. Could you clarify, is this vintage Kostas 6152 - or... Something else?
