  1. I think you just answered right there what the issue is - it isn't that you are a bad teacher, it is that they are bad students. Sounds like really bad.
  2. I would echo POTR's comments - sure, there may be issues with your teaching but it more than likely comes down to the students not wanting to study, just party. I remember a first year law course I did, in a lecture hall of 300+ seats it was standing room only at the start of the year, by mid year half the seats were vacant, and only a third of those that stay to sit the final exams pass. Accounting courses I did were similar, the average grade was around 45% (a pass being 50%) - yet all the people I associated with were achieving in the 70's and higher. University is about independent learning a lot more than the lectures a lot of the time. Even with my degree though, I have not been able to get a job in finance without any experience in the field. After 3 years I have given up even looking myself...
  3. Bring on the same pics in a couple of months time with the snow!
  4. I have just got an email about some specials from a watchmaker here is Sydney, some of you may even subscribe to the list too; he is clearing out a few items, moonwatch for AU$1800, and this rolex http://www.clockmaker.com.au/w/k455.html for AU$499. Not that I will look at it myself, but is it a bargain for someone here?
  5. item number 9234 that must have a warning on it in the States: sun visors for cars saying they must be removed from the windscreen before driving due to lack of visibility when they are in place... Yes, lots of things need warnings for stupid people...
  6. Good birthday month all round it seems, happy birthday both!
  7. I have noticed that some of todays topics have zero people having read them - even though people obviously have and some topics have replies. Anyone else noticed this problem or is it just me?

    12 Birthdays?

I too noticed there were a lot today, given it really is my birthday and not just some made up date If it were not for most of the rest being in other countries a RWG birthday GTG would rock! And make it at one of those bars that give free birthday drinks
  9. How did he make it to 1500 in the first place!? Do they not teach science type stuff in school in France or something, with that big a percentage who had no clue?
  10. Although obviously superlume is 'the best' product out there, there are the tinting kits this place has, I for one would quite like to use some different colors for my dials, make them look a bit different.
  11. Looks quite upmarket and classy. Very impressive. One question - does it actually run on a 24 hour time judging by the numbering?
  12. I remember my fathers first phone was a corded one, with a battery that slotted in the bit it was attached to the size of a brick. My first one, Nokia 636, Nokia 5120, missing a few... had a sagem fliptop until recently when I got a samsung fliptop. One day a blackberry type device. One day...
  13. Wait a minute, isn't Kenberg in Melbourne...?
  14. Hmmm, maybe I should put black lights into my place...
  15. Here was a post I made a few days about it, not that it mentioned where to find the auction... http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...mp;#entry338706
  16. Blasphemy. True sports cars never have an auto!
  17. I find the power reserve on mine is accurate - it stops at zero and 40, not dropping below or going above.
  18. I do like it, and perhaps they put the tourbillion on the back not the front to try and continue with the tradition of not putting anything 'unnecessary' on the front. But also have cutting edge stuff in their movements. Although the AM/PM seems like something extra they could have missed. On that, I would like it even more if the am/pm were a date subdial instead. As much as I like my 113, I really miss having the date on it, it just bugs me every time I need to write the date.
  19. Beer o'clock for me, so it wasn't soda that could have almost ruined my screen.... and I agree totally with the comment being gold!
  20. An update: ordered 1gb of ram (max my system can run) at the weekend, and it arrived today. Took longer to find a screwdriver than it did to install the new ram. So much faster, actually works properly now, rather than just hanging all the time. Might not be the newest or fastest system around, but for what I am doing, and with what I was used to, definitely all I need for the moment. And to think, I was going to do this a year ago but was told by a local electronics department store they could install it for me, but I would have to try to source the ram myself as it was no longer available and ebay would be my best bet for some second hand ram...
  21. Well, after spending the day looking at various specs on different systems, thinking about whether I should go with a decent system and finance it, and a bit more searching, have found somewhere that supplies ram for the system I currently have. It is only expandable up to 1gb, but presently it is only running 256 anyway (actually only around 194 after taking into account the graphics card). So I have got 1gb of ram on its way, will get someone that knows what they are doing to install it, so I should be looking under $250AU installed. Should hopefully keep what I have running a bit better for the next year, when I do finally upgrade properly.
  22. Good to see at least one of our mods has some taste there Ken!
