  1. I wore this through med school....

I would only recommend purchasing it if you send it to pbdad to relume it/vintagize it properly....for an extra $150 it will look AMAZING. If nothing else, it will be artwork on your wrist.

    :thumbsupsmileyanim:

How exactly do I get in touch with pbdad? Being the hard-headed fool that I am, I like to try stuff like this myself, but might be out of my depth somewhat. At the very least, I think I'd like someone to put some decent lume on a rep for me.

  2. Once you've get a 70s-era rep and beat it up a bit, it will look old. Even if they don't know the model is from that era, the artificial aging will make it very inconspicuous, and it will not attract attention :) The key to this is to be subtle. It doesn't have to be banged about and scratched to [censored] like it's been dragged behind a car, but adding some scuffs, then polishing with a green Scotchbrite pad and a 4-sided nail-file will create the appearance of gradual aging, and knocks and scrapes from throughout a 30+ year lifespan, rather than all being inflicted in one hit :victory: Failing that, blend it in even more to 'student fashion' by wearing it on a fat-strap, so people see the wrist-strap without focussing too heavily on the watch... Worked for this guy :whistling:

    :pardon:

Thanks for the advice :thumbsupsmileyanim: I have to admit, I love my steel bracelets, though. I used to do a lot of scale modelling and I was pretty good at faking naturalistic weathering. I might even be able to make it look like there's real dirt and dust stuck in the strap using pigment powders...

Definately going to look into this. I looked up some pics of the real double-red SD, it seems to be a very accurate replica for the money. Until next month, I'm going to try and learn as much as I can about weathering/ageing reps and then make my final decision.

  3. Watch dummies who want to be in the Paparazzi limelight.

Whereabouts in the U.K. are you studying?

    Central London.

    Welcome to the party :drinks:

Replica Tudor Sub dials are available via YukiWatch, but no 'ready made' Tudor Subs available (unless Yuki sells them at Big $$s) they're very much a matter of DIY jobs, but well worth it, as you get all the look and style of a Rolex, but are able to fly under the radar. As for what you're currently wearing, it could be worse, this is what I wear when I feel the need to cheer myself up :whistling:

Awesome, thanks. What would I use for a case? I don't believe Tudor watches had crown guards like Rolex's, unless I'm horribly mistaken...

Also, my dream is to own a real PVD Rolex. I think they're very unique and understated.

  4. Stay away from the DRSD. The gens go for $15K and up. You'd do better sticking with a 5513 which runs in the $4-5K for a gen. Much more plausible.

Keep reading about how to age these vintage reps, people are doing it all the time around here. Just keep searching and reading and welcome aboard.

...But nobody in my university would know that :whistling:

  5. Interesting stuff. I've been a regular gym member for 2 years - the first year was spent dropping from 300lbs to a somewhat more skinny 160lbs. This year (the last 8 months) I bulked for 4 months and I'm now cutting. 195lbs at about 15-16% bodyfat, aiming for 8% in the near future.

The realization's definitely dawning on me that to get to the size I want to be it's either:

a)10 years natural training, gym twice a day, no life

b)Needle up the [censored], get to look good and take care of my degree/job/family

The other thing is - I'm going to Japan for a year's exchange this time next year. This is going to sound selfish, awful, shallow, etc - but as you may have guessed from the '300lbs' part, it's only in the last 12 months I've been anything close to passably attractive. I actually had to have my man-boobs surgically removed as they'd become girl-boobs - I was seriously considering doing a couple of cycles of test-e/tren/dbol with the appropriate PCT, then leaning off with clen to get huge and ripped for my time abroad. I want to enjoy what's left of my youth and make up for lost time.

Does this make me a bad person?

Kind of fell in love with this. I was wondering if anyone here has one and how it compares to a gen.

I really like the idea of a rep vintage, I imagine most people would assume a 2011 Rolex rep on my wrist was a fake due to me being a student, whereas a vintage watch could be a family hand-me-down.

However, despite the fact that it's supposed to be an old watch, it looks pretty factory-fresh. Are there any threads/guides to weathering and ageing a rep vintage watch?

    Thanks guys :D

  7. ..and lets not forget those chicks and rollies(Rolex) :pimp:

It would be nice to get some attention from the opposite sex. 6 days a week in the gym, hours spent on personal grooming - nothing

Anyway, I discovered last night that that plastic Ice Watch does actually have lume on the hands and dial. It's pretty weak...

  8. Welcome to "build your vintage watch heaven"! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Does indeed seem to be. Going to spend some time lurking and hopefully not making an ass of myself working out how to piece together a nice 'vintage' Rolex or Tudor... :Jumpy:

Dont drink or smoke? Just give it time. Before you know it you will have a fine cigar a bottle of exquisite boubon/scotch and be rocking that rollie like It's 1999. :thumbsupsmileyanim: Those collage chicks will be on you like stink on doo doo. :D Welcome to RWG. :drinks: Mike

Ha, I used to be a huge drinker, but after some bad experiences with absinthe and Mary Jane, I decided to go teetotal. Truth be told I think I was pretty much an alcoholic

I can get behind the cigar idea, however. Need something to blow smoke in rich London kid's faces with.

Thanks for the warm welcome to the board, guys

  9. Welcome! And yes; there I so much info here to absorb. You'll spend many happy hours if you want to.

Thank you! I already have found myself spending a few hours here. I really, really like the look of some of the replica vintage watches. I'll probably invest in my first replica this time next month when I have a fresh batch of student loan (I'm a pretty boring student - I don't drink or smoke, so I usually have quite a bit of spare cash floating around)...

  10. I got bored yesterday afternoon and read up on the history of fake Swiss watches. The next thing I knew, I was signing up for an account with this forum...

I'm a student from England, about to enter the second year of my degree. I like nice things but can't necessarily afford them, currently this:

post-39670-0-32478600-1314666698.jpg is my default wristwatch. Urgh. Brb, using search function to find out if anyone makes replica Tudor Submariners.
