  1. In my rep carrer I've only had Rolex models and one Sinn, they were ALL good for swimming in a pool, showering, and the occasional dip in the lake or river. Most of the models I've had were the mid-grade watches with ETA or Asian ETA movements. The Deep Sea model supposedly has an incorrectly designed HEV valve that will leak if not epoxied, I flipped mine as soon as it arrived because it was too big.
  2. Dang that thing looks GREAT Watcher! You always amaze me with your awesome builds, keep up the good work brother!
  3. One things for certain about OJ, if his TT Sub was real (back then I'm sure it was) he's sold it by know to pay Nicole Browns parents and his lawyers for his latest arrest! Robbery was it??
  4. That's a beauty Woof! I'm wanting to have a good 5512 or 5513 put together to go along with my Sea Dwellers. The vintage Rolex bug has bitten me and the nice clean dial of the 5512/13 would cure that.
  5. In my experience the cheaper reps (rolex subs) don't have lume, per se. They have glow tape cut out and stuck into the markers.
  6. OK, bro. Use whatever service you want. But you got EXTREMLY lucky to get a INTERNATIONAL Registered mail piece faster than Express (EMS = Express Mail Service/International) Customs are what cause 100% of the delays in mail processing from outside the USA. They are totally unpredictable, sometimes your package will sit in customs mere hours and sometimes it will sit there for WEEKS depending on what the current security protocols are at the moment.... Ask ANY member here who has ordered several things from overseas and I bet their EMS parcels get to them much faster than registered 97% of the time. Moral of the story, you just got caught in one of the hightened security crackdowns at customs! Your registered package is considered negligible to customs, they are usually small and unisured. Where EMS parcels cost much more to send they expect them to contain higher value items. Meaning they check (xray/sniffer/etc) a higher percentage of EMS packages. Especially if they originate in China, Peoples Republic of.
  7. Excellent write up and pictures! This was an awesome thread until the "one post warrior" showed up and tried to threadcrap.... Why is that tool not banned??
  8. <p>You boys better sell those old WM9's now why you can still get some of your money back! With TC on the scene the WM9's will become pretty easy to source and not rare as "hens teeth" anymore!
  9. That looks GREAT!! The older dials with these markers (not applied) have got to be a PITA to lume correctly! Hats off to The Zigmeister for his super work!
  10. Ditto, lacqueur thinner on a q-tip then a toothpick to remove the paint from the letters. All my SD's are unpainted case backs. IMO, it looks better and the gens loose their paint also.
  11. You should be able to remove the case back and drop the dial in through the back. If it fits it will sit flush against the rehaut of the case. Is this dial from Manhand on eBay? I bought a refinished Sea Dweller dial from him a few months back that really good like yours and had a faint glow also.
  12. There has been a Sea Dweller 16600 or 16660 with this exact "aged" looking dial for sale for over 3 months now. I guess everybody else agrees with us Freddy, the dial is beyond aged to me it looks damaged! That seller is asking a premium for his SD with what he calls a "rare aged" dial??
  13. Same as you Woof, when I bought my SSD the seller also included a gen insert in the deal. It was a factory sealed Rolex 16600 with the micro chip thingy in the box. I never tried to fit it on my SSD because it has a WM pearl already. I gave the insert to Ephry and I think he said it did fit the SSD cases he has. If he stops by here he can clear it up for us.
  14. I've heard the 14060 insert is the same size as the 16600 but I've not personally tried it. It sounds right though, the 14060 no-date is a 39mm case and so is the SD. (gen specs anyway)
  15. I like his website, when he opened it a couple of months back he didn't have as much stuff. Now his stock looks pretty good. I guess this is a good way to beat ebay fees. He got his name out there by using eBay and now has his customer base and can sell on his own with out the paying the ever increasing fees the bay throws at you. Kudos to ingod.
  16. Looks like it fits the case lugs good like a Sinn U series rubber, looks to be a nice strap and clasp combo. Will it use the DSSD ratcheting clasp too?
  17. Congrats! I'm jealous, the 1680 is simply stunning and the Tudor w/Cali dial is a beauty!
  18. I'm pretty sure the gen is available with both dials, matte and gloss. I prefer the matte dial because the domed crystal causes a lot of reflection as it is anyway. And yes, PB offered the matte dial refinish in my DSSD mod package.
  19. The insert is trash, the LEC on the crystal can be seen easily, and the bezel just looks wrong. The case engravings look stamped like gen, but also look sloppy like you said?? There are also no end link "rub" marks on the case engravings like most all rollies I've seen. It could be an NOS replacement case with aftermarket bezel, bezel insert, rep crystal?? Overall I'm confused? I know I wouldn't buy it because of the inconsistencies I mentioned but I also wouldn't say it's gen or rep because I can't tell?
  20. I feel your pain OP, I've been through almost the exact things as you! As of right now I have 4 watches out with four (4) different modders. All of them are time consuming and when dealing with reps there are always "hidden" flaws that have to fixed. I've spent hundreds of dollars running down parts, buying extra movements, donor watches, etc. etc. It's all part of the game, but it still sucks! The wait is worth it when the watches arrive all tricked out and beautiful though!
  21. I'm pretty sure the gen DSSD doesn't have the serial between the lugs, only the rehaut. It does have the model number between the lugs though, the other area between the lugs should be bare if I remember correctly?
  22. I think it looks wonderful! The one I had a few months back (which I sold because it's big for my puny wrist) was an older version and not nearly as good as this one! Ask Jkay, he commented on mine that it was a very old version 3 that the dealer sold to me as the current version 5...... (well, it was the current version when I bought it)
  23. Heat or steam from the shower could be the reason, it doesn't take much to get into the watch to cause the crystal to be completely covered with the "mist". It could be a number of places where it got in. Could be the HEV valve, crown gasket damaged, improperly pressed crystal, etc. PB can take of all of these issues. Remember that PB will have your watch for about 6 to 10 weeks with his current backlog, that gives you some time to continue saving up because he won't let you pay him until it's done and has passed the W/R test anyway.
