  1. Looking at how Nanuq treats his watches, I often wonder about the REAL reason he buys reps. It is economically inefficient to smash a $5000 sub every other week.
  2. Lol $217k could buy one a nice tourbillon or minute repeater watch. The measure of value and worth are very different, and subjective, especially when it comes to items like this. Pocket change to you maybe Mike, its an entire Porsche to me!
  3. Your question is a valid one.. and part of the answer why they make so many versions is for commercial sense. A first version rep released by a factory, to me, is always something like a market testing model.. What decides whether versions "2 to n" is made, I guess, is the popularity of the model. The factory would invest on making the improvements and such only when there is a market for the product. That could also explain why for models such as the Richard Mille RM series and Hysek, the reps development happen very slowly, as compared with the ever popular Rolex Submariners, Hublots, and yes the AP Divers..
  4. I have seen this (or probably one of the later versions) on the wrist of an acquaintance. I thought it was genuine and asked the wearer how much he bought it for. He grinned and very openly told me that it was a rep, but its something he could pass off as gen on the wrist even at any AP boutique, similar to what you said.
  5. very nice, wear her well.. honestly, if I saw your watch in real life, I would have no idea if its a rep or gen. I would just think its very nice, and very uncommon.
  6. very nice backdrop..where are you, in a Nazi hideout? You're right, as long as the watch keeps time reasonably well, this is an awesome specimen. Wear her well and congrats.
  7. Of cos there are flaws. For example, I doubt there is a GMT rep with the correct hand stack currently. It is a classic flaw of the GMT master.
  8. It is indeed very beautiful, in a vintage way. Looks like it has survived through a war. Can I know the case size and movement please? I always wanted something like this, but a watch built like yours is definitely not easily available.
  9. pardon me, but is it a bronze case? Looks awesome!
  10. hey nice watch! where did you get this one? I didn't know Breguet produces sporty models.. this is nice and must be very uncommon
  11. MOAB, I believe current total value of the watches with MD2020 is above $27k?
  12. +1. Plus their pet names, places they frequent, work places and personal habits. Makes it easy for assassins to be hired and put to work.
  13. do you mean md2020repair@yahoo.com? That is the address he has been using and responding to until very recently. Welcome to the victimization club!
  14. Thank you Pete for going through the trouble. Its a very good rep on the wrist, almost indistinguishable from gen from what I can see.
  15. I knew there would be many Rolexes. We also know who the flashier members are, hint: martijnp
  16. Not a good thing to hear about. I hope it turns out well for you.
  17. Guys, Just curious, suppose you can only keep one rep in your collection, and have to forgo all the rest, which one would it be, and why? For me, it would have to be my PAM 057C from DSN. Much as I love the flashier ROOs, the dressy Franck Mullers, and even the other wearable-daily PAM models, I simply love the tobacco dial with the ETA2892 + SOPROD power reserve, all contained in a 44mm titanium case. How about you guys?
  18. (I think you have gone completely off the rocker buddy! Also we got to stop putting preamble in parenthesis before the one word that matters ) Delicious
  19. you're fuckin' right it is a flame-free zone. Nobody said anything about infernos though.
  20. And I knew you would be the one my friend. ...Nu komt de aap uit de mouw
