  1. Yes the gen bracelet fitment will loosen with wear and time. Gen Rolexes are not wear-proof either, and will scratch, ding, and have the fit between parts loosen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. Ok the horse has spoken. Well we do not believe in revealing your personal info publicly J but if privacy is your main concern, then I will suggest that you PM Nanuq and get your member name changed. Well regarding your character and winning people over, I will like to see a single member who will trade with you now at this point in time. Name me one. So unless you’re in this hobby only to lurk and read, I believe that a good measure of integrity and trustworthiness is needed for you to buy, sell and trade. Anyway, do what you think is right and be responsible for the consequences, both good and bad. I’m not here to lecture you on how to live your life, but rather to give you a tip or two about how to make this hobby go a bit more smoothly for you. The worth of a man is a lot more than the size of his bank account. If you think you’re wealthy J, think again. I know of many here who probably are many times richer than you, both in monetary terms or character. If you need to talk about how much any amount is worth to you, or how long it will take for you to earn that, it shows me that you still count your dollars. Lastly, if you think that your case warrants legal attention, then I will like to see you put your money where your mouth is, and take legal action against those you feel responsible. Do it, J. I will personally like to see far you can go honestly. The only winner if you do, will be the popcorn seller enjoying a sell-out evening catering to the laughing spectators on the sideline. You’re too entertaining to ban for now. I will not taunt you but tell you sincerely that nobody is impressed with your subtle threats of lawsuits. I’m also curious why you do my threaten legal action against the people who stole your card identity, instead of taking it out on members here? Do you feel heroic doing so? People talk trash all the time, it’s true that you cannot stop a single word spoken against you. But governing yourself is entirely within your control. Bottomline: you have made monetary restitution toward the members affected by your Paypal disputes. You have not broken other rules here so please feel free to stay on. I hope you make the best of your time here instead of trying to convince others how legally resourceful or rich you are. It sounded a little like a man describing how sharp and dangerous his fruit paring knife is, ignoring all the guns pointed at him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Hi J I think it is fair to say that you are here, because we are the forum that has not banned you yet. I have some points to make. regarding this: 1. Firstly, kindly stop threatening anyone legally. It will merely exacerbate your situation. The guys affected by your paypal dispute have the right to feel upset. Just as you caused them grief and inconvenience, you should make the same allowance for some measure of the unpleasantness to trickle back to you. If I see you threatening anyone again in that way, you can be sure that it will be the end of your tolerated existence here, and then, you will have zero knowledge of what happens thereafter. So please, feel welcome to stay on and redeem yourself, but no more threats please. It is uncalled for. 2. You have made restitution against the affected parties. That is one point in your favor. Thank you. But making this restitution toward something that never should have happened, does not elevate you to a higher platform. We appreciate your gesture, but it does not give you the right to sanctimonious behavior. 3. The admin and crew here have protected your privacy and carried out due diligence to ensure that your identity is not compromised. Having said that, I find it ironical that you will use an email address like that as your member handle. You do realize that google treats everyone the same. All you need to do is to ask it to seek and seek it shall. Enough said. 4. Everyone makes mistakes, and it is up to the parties affected to pardon you. It is however up to YOU, to prove that you are not who they think you are. In this situation, it is not merely enough that you know, but it will be an uphill battle toward gaining everyone's trust again. It is however not impossible, and far from being even improbable. How much you are willing to do, is entirely up to you. 5. You can spend the rest of your time whining here about how a member got you banned on Repgeek, how you got banned at RWI etc, but all it will do is provide entertainment for the community at your expense. For what it is worth, I believe that you are not banned on Repgeek due to the specific action or words or any member, if you are banned at all. @wimpie007 can confirm that, and also let you know your official status at RG. 6. Integrity, manners, trustworthiness, and the willingness to contribute meaningfully, are fundamental values which make up the traits a good member should possess on these boards. Specific knowledge, talent and skills are nice bonuses to have, but they cannot replace the core values that make a member valuable. If you are trying to cram your merits and the veracity of your character down the throats of everyone reading this thread, it simply will not work. Put in effort and let your actions show who you are. It takes sincerity, effort and time. Remove any one of the 3, and you will fail. How you choose to do this from this point onward, is up to you. But I do reiterate, lay off the threats please Mr J. This approach is not going to work a single modicum in your favor. Give it time, and the jarring pain of this episode will dull, and eventually fade. You alone decide how much you are trusted and valued in this hobby and community, through your words and actions. I wish you a lovely day ahead and please take some time to read what I have taken time to write to you. I want you to do well again, but my will alone is not going to help you. Get to work if you want to regain your good standing. Like I said, it will take some time, but it is very possible.

  7. The "natural" ETA7750/A7750 has seconds @9, and any other configuration is a modified form, and less reliable, as transfer gears are added, along with efficiency reducing friction.
  8. This looks to me to be a gen ETA7750, and like what Tomhorn implied, it could be a movement used in a brand which uses its own datewheel font, thereby explaining the dw font variation, and perhaps the lack of the ETA stamp.
  9. It is rare and fortunate that an episode like this ends this way. We may never know the real story of what went down but I guess it is good that the guys got their cash. This is a reminder to deal with circumspect and caution always.
  10. Get the ones with the more reputable movements if you can afford it, like A2824, A2836, SH3135, A7750 etc. Yes it is common for the same model to offer 2 or more movement options. I personally avoid miyota like the plaque. Yes they are actually reliable and can be silenced to work smoothly and quietly like a gagged housemaid but....lets just say that I prefer the gagged housemaid.
  11. Hey Chris, to tighten security concerns, I had to remove both our names from your quote, as you can see. Please do not do it again, next infraction will earn a warning and a chance to win an all-expenses trip to the Bahamas, with or without the proverbial Hawaiian shirt and the obligatory cocktail in hand. You have been duly warned Chris. Al
  12. I agree. I think that whatever happened in the past, is something we all can take reference from, but I do think that @SSTEELis consciously trying to put in effort to improve the experience of members who use him for service and repairs. He may have made mistakes before, but so have every single one of us. The important thing is that he seems to be learning to be better and that is worth more to us (and the members he will deal with) than his past weaknesses. SSteel is an asset to the community, knowledge and skills wise. No mistake about that. The only thing I picked on was his sense of responsibility after the watch service/repair was completed, and I think that he understands well, and is working on it. Let's give him the chance to do so. If we keep condemning someone, I doubt that it can instill the desired values and behavior or response from him. I stand by what I said about SSTeel then, and I stand by what I am saying about him now. Let us not make someone pay for the same mistake over and over, unless he chooses to make it over and over.
  13. guys the rules have changed, only VIP and platinum members can place sales adverts now. Also @junbug5150 I see that you are not using "Chris" anymore in any of your posts. I was worried that the RWI hacker will get an idea reading them so please keep the anonymity up! Al
  14. Hey M, I know that you have accumulated over time, a rather impressive set of knowledge and skills necessary to help members here with their watch movements. And as such, you get numerous PMs asking various questions. How do you deal with PMs that you do not feel comfortable reading, but yet feel obliged to reply? Do share that skill lol.
  15. That is an impressive collection, congrats. I see that your taste is rather eclectic as well, with watches from almost all the major brands, if not all, accounted for.
  16. Actually, R, I do not mind whether we do business or not. I run my own non-watch related business managing a group of companies, and that is one source of sustenance for me besides the passive investments I do. This is just a hobby, though yes I still put a price on the parts, labour and time I put in to justify the time spent in it. So I really don't mind whether we do business or not. I remember you as a pleasant person to talk to, cheerful and upbeat. I just hope that if we do chat again, it will be on something specific and concrete that I can help you with, rather than an exchange of opinions.
  17. Well, Mr R, you expressed interest in one of my diver builds in your PM, and I gave you my number so that we could discuss it via whatsapp. But I quickly realized that the conversation was becoming more of a Q&A session, with no particular end in sight. So yes I guess that "to no avail" applies here. When you know what you want from me, I am always open to a conversation with you, but on specifically what you want, and not about general stuff in the hobby. That chat can happen later when we are better acquainted.
  18. And an Asian clone, my brother, is also a Chinese movement lol. Just like the movement in the Marcus lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I receive several PMs daily from various members, mostly newbies. Most of them wants to know various basic stuff: who the trusted dealers are, which model is the best, do I have this and that model for sale etc. Questions which are harmless in themselves. My gripe is with the feeling that the senders of the questions usually do not display good manners and most don’t bother to say please, thank you or do a basic introduction of themselves. Yes we are a close knit community and we should help one another whenever we can. Yet I cannot help feeling that such exchanges can be much better greased with basic manners and pleasantries, especially when the asker is new and feeling his way around. I used to be a lot more patient with such PMs and will spend time and effort to answer the questions posed, only for most of the guys asking to just vanish without even a simple thank you, after getting the information they seek. Do you guys get the same kind of PMs sometimes, and how do you feel about them or deal with them? I am selective about who I choose to help or respond to these days. It is ok if you’re new and want to get shortcuts to the info you seek. I did that as well when I was new. But it is not ok, in my opinion, not to bring good manners along when you’re expecting someone else to spend time to help you out. Yes this forum exists as a platform for all of us to enjoy the hobby better. So even when you’re new and know nothing, you can still make the exchanges better by being polite and appreciative. It’s like asking for directions and then spending 2 seconds to say thank you rather than just walk away without saying anything at all after getting the help you need. To the newbies, manners maketh man. If you bother to take the time to send a PM and expect a meaningful reply, then please, display less self-entitlement and better manners. Nobody owes you anything and good manners is the grease that keeps the cogs of interaction turning smoothly. Will you take the time to answer the PMs that you send, even if you know the answers? It is ok to ask questions, but not ok to feel that you are entitled to answers automatically just because you’re asking them. I’ve ignored about 50% of the PMs sent to me in the past 3 months due to the self-entitled sounding questions. Come on newbies, if you expect me to respond to you meaningfully, then be better mannered please. Else just post your questions in the forum and let whoever is willing answer them. 20. I think you’re right one either likes it or hates it. Looking at the dial is a little like surgery without anesthetic to me. The pain can be rather unbearable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. Hello Go to any dealer website and check out the datejusts and see which you like. The different factories often produce different reps and each will have its own merits and minuses. It is mostly up to you what you can accept and what you cannot. For the movements, it is generally true that most of them come with dirt and are poorly oiled and in need of cleaning and service. The power reserve is just one aspect of movement health and yes it’s possible to get the movement serviced in order to improve the power reserve (mostly through reduction of gear friction or a better mainspring) if that is important to you. Depending on where you’re based, we have guys like@ssteel and@misiekped who can help you regarding this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. The legend is mostly true, except that said service was limited to the removal of the caseback. I’m still trying to progress beyond that the blindfold is in place. Navitimers are the second best looking watches in the world J, with the rest of the watches being #1. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. @kinkinza I have just also taken the opportunity to decide that I will put a 20% premium on servicing or modifying Breitlings. They go toward the sacrifice of my ocular health.
