  1. Welcome back, and I think you meant Narikaa?
  2. Absolutely respectable budget. If you want a closed back 42mm ROO chrono, there are plenty to choose from. It is easier for you to pick a few and put the links here, for our comments. If you like the diver, go with the recommendations above, you would not go wrong.
  3. Exactly. It's like saying my friend Martijn can't get into a night club because he isn't well-dressed Message crafted while wrestling a juvenile crocodile that's unwilling to be captured and made into leather
  4. The guys who do charge backs should be named and shamed. If he could do this to a dealer, he could just as easily do that for anyone else he deals with.
  5. Hey M, The lowest that I have seen a similar one go for, on RWI, was $600 but $700 would be a fairer price IMHO.
  6. I am sure that the first thing people look at when checking the rolex on your wrist, is whether the endlink is wrapped. Have you checked if Noob factory is a forum member here? I need like 3000 other issues addressed for the damn rep Noob watches I bought.
  7. No worries A.. I was actually using you as an example of the help he could potentially get. You got the skills but not the time brother, I know. Lol.
  8. One TD or another, the watch is going to be from the same factory, with potentially the same problems. Toro was not the problem. If you want to enjoy this hobby, you need to adjust your expectations and manage them well. Else you will soon find yourself running out of TDs.
  9. Hello newbie and welcome to the rep hobby. Buying reps from dealers takes patience and luck, and problems like these sometimes occur. The way I look at it, your options are as follows: a. Send watch back to Toro for replacement/repair b. Send watch to a watchsmith in Europe. SSteel and GenTle are good guys and can help you out. c. Sell it as a defective watch at a loss. d. Do nothing and put it in a drawer e. Wear it as a bracelet or use it as a paperweight. Except for option E, the rest of the options are going to cost you varying amounts of money. I would advise option b. That way, you can get the watch serviced as well. The ETA-2836 that came with the watch probably needs lots of cleaning and servicing. Think of it as money spent to get a better watch. Rather than sit here and scoff at you and offer you armchair advice, I will even offer to pay 50% of your servicing fee, if you send them to either SSteel or Gentle. Like I said, both are very good guys and you would be a fool to turn them down. It is your best way forward. Think of spending a bit extra not just to get the same watch, but a better watch. If you want to continue spending time to whine and kick like a baby, I AM going to scoff at you. My offer of 50% subsidy stands. Stop whining already please. Its achieving nothing except using up bandwidth on this forum.
  10. Ah but mate, this guy is not worth my blood boiling over. If you remember the altercation we had once upon a time in a kingdom far far away, over which we became friends eventually, that young guy who lashed at me was definitely a much worthier adversary, many times over. Where has all the time gone buddy? lol
  11. Oh, ignore the noob please. His advice sounded ignorant and rather condescending. With $700 you could get some very nice reps indeed from Noob, JF (they are factory/maker names) or member to member sales. Refrain from giving rubbish advice please. First, for an ROO rep, USD700 is not a low budget by hobby standards, for any stock standard rep ROO. Second, technically, the V7 and V8 divers both ARE JF ROOs. Third, you sounded rather condescending. That was uncalled for. 1st post and you are already acting like a fool.
  12. That's JF buddy. Very JF. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. The Noob plots are thicker than the JF ones, but either could be modified to fit the other. Like what c888 mentioned, check the back of the case.. 8520 is indeed a tell for Noob.
  14. The date font and dial look like JF to me. May I know why you think its a Noob?

  16. The best way to tell is the date font. It looks like a jf to me from the pic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I think you should do some research before putting your ignorance on display in your very first post. The watch pictured is an older generation Hublot MDM GMT. It may not resemble the present day Hublots much, but I guess evolution is the thing that is keeping all watch brands (and most commodities) alive in the present day no? An ebay listing for reference: http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Hublot-MDM-Geneve-Greenwich-Mean-Time-/131116859083 $25 watch you say? I will give you $100, can you buy me 3? You can keep the change of course.
  18. And yes, we were all noobs one time or another. Your "read more, talk less" and "use the search function" perceptions are only partially true.. you can always read, and contribute meaningfully at the same time. Reading and posting are not mutually exclusive activities. Guys who register on the forum, and post questions like "who has the best sub?" and others like these earn the ire of more senior members here because the information has been discussed to death here, and because of the frequent lack of manners of said newbie to do a short self-introduction. It shows a rather cavalier and complacent approach to getting answers with minimal effort and zero desire for interaction with the community. Your post here, for example, is already a meaningful one, newbie or not. I, for one, would buy from you or sell to you because I know that I am dealing with a fellow human being with the same interests, and whom I would take a chance trusting for a couple of hundred bucks.. Your reputation and trustworthiness are earned over time, and over contributions and interactions here. There are no real shortcuts but as with all things in life, some do it better and some do it worse. Don't worry, you would one day be an established and trusted member at RWG if you continue to make yourself known and build your reputation over time. I have faith that you would earn your stripes in good time.
  19. I agree with you. There is bound to be some degree of mistrust involved when you're buying as a total newbie. What we all need, and what most of us do get, is someone else to give us the first break. Besides feedback, there're other factors that build credibility like post count, membership duration, and reputation points as well. It would be tough for a total newbie lacking in all the above to get trusted. But sometimes, it also depends on how much the seller wants to sell his watch/parts. For many such buyers buying from trusted sellers, they could start by using PayPal gift or bank transfers to buy and build their reputations. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Personally I would never use WU with someone whom I do not know.. but like you said, $30 was a small price to pay to establish the caliber of an entity.
  21. Guys, This is a general cautionary heads-up thread. What I am about to post may seem like basic common-sense, and yes it is. I just think that in light of the recent occurrences on the boards, it is time to remind everyone to be alert when trading watches or parts online In case you do not know, RWI has been hit with a recent spate of "get payment-and-vanish" sellers, profiteering sellers, sellers with dubious or misleading descriptions of items, and even straight-out scammers. You can find some of the offenders in the RWI brig section. Please exercise due diligence when doing trades or purchases here. I have noted a few of the RWI "no-saled" or "incacerated" members registering at RWG lately. By default, it takes a VIP membership status to sell at RWG. Do not be mislead by the VIP status of members here. Look instead at their track records. In the absence of one, exercise the necessary caution, especially if the post count is low, and if the deal looks too good to be true. There is credence to the time-tested adage: Buy the seller first. Be careful of sales posted by new members with no tagged pictures, and be wary of new sellers insisting to be paid only via paypal gift (ok family and friends!) or bank transfers or western union. These payment methods offer no recourse for the buyers if and when a deal goes awry. Beware the succulent bait that hides the hook.
  22. Thats not a screwdriver set MP, its a hand setting tool set. If you still need it, here is one example http://www.ebay.com/itm/Watch-Hand-Presto-Chrono-Press-Presser-Setting-Fitting-Watchmaker-Repair-Tool-/301051795967
  23. Thank you very kindly guys, but I think my method is just one of the few possible to solve the magnification issue. If I am not wrong, Domi can do the same through his own ingenuity.
