  1. To make things clear immediately: this is not "our" Thor ! I'm currently browsing with my mobile and can't check the other site - but I called Thor a few minutes ago and warned him about this, he'll contact T asap to clarify this..!

Thanks for the call namor. In fact i haven't been a very long time here but this is due to my lack of leisure time and has nothing to do with anything else. I haven't any connection tho the "new forum" seems someone just liked my nick...

I have always enjoyed my time here and this is always the watch-forum i'm visiting first. Hope to be here more often but my time is very limited :yuk:

Feels great to be here again - this place is like home!

BTW: I'M still looking for a great IWC Big Pilot rep ;)

    Greetz Thor

  2. The only problem I see with this is that the dealers in question do not hawk their ware here anymore...they have websites. They might still contribute to RWG...but I can't remember the last time Andrew or Josh posted anything for sale here.

Good point - most of our dealers have websites or working actually to create one. But how haveyou recognized the dealers-websites? Via RWG, TRC, RWi and so one... the oldtimers in generall now what to ask and how they can rate a dealers but for newbies this is very hard... and as newbie where would you buy a watch? From a dealer signed a voluntary contract of honesty or a third one?

As this sitehere is to talk about watches and avoid to be scammed my biggest concernb are the newbies and not the educated members so it still makes all sense for me...

    Just my 2 cts :whistling:

  3. Yes - but how do you know which to buy? Green/Blue/Yellow/Gold? I will buy one but I'm not sure which will fit my rep - since reps don't have the color coded dot.

Check the pics and copare them to your lighter to be 100% sure check the sizes of your lighter and compare them to the ones listed at the site...

BTW i'm using the Universal gold one, this one fits all my rep lighters... expect it'll will work with yours too ;)

  4. They already got 5 stars each in case you didn't notice!

The stars over at RWI have nothing to do with our idea... if Klink or XYZ from the admin team over there likes a dealer or maybe the dealer had paid a ceratin amount he'll promoted to 5 stars...

Here the "special dealer sign" will show that the dealer offers a special service and complied to the voluntary rules - we i admin won't rate the dealers - the dealers themself decide if they would like to sign to the new standards or not... no one else...

As already said a few times most of the dealers are celebrating CNY at the moment so hopefully they'll throw something in here after their celebrations ;)

  5. Sorry to hear about your watch... but customs risk is part of game :o

Depending where you are located you'll find a dealer who ships in conus but you have to pay higher prices so you have to decide where to buy from. Beside that another way to avoid customs is buying used watches from members located in your country ;)

But the shipping question is out of topic here... we should discuss about an way that participating dealers could offer their goods in an easy way and non misleading way...

Hope to see more input from the dealers after the CNY

  6. My opinion is that we do not have any right to ask them change their websites the way we want.

The FAQ is ok with me..

Rep buisness is an illegal buisnes and people want to stay under the radar. Dealers exposed for easiest transactions.. And they pay the price. Dealers are now quiting.. Others (like King) have only a photo (or a photobucket) and 1-2 details... Details are nice but they are, and there will be more important issues in this hobby.. See the forest, not the tree.

That Ediee and River quit their job has nothing to do with this (River already told me already in november that he'll quit from dealing) - the dealers won't be force to change anything - if they decide so they'll just stay regular dealers as at the moment. The ones who like to sign the voluntary contarct should change their websites too in my point of view - the membership doesn't have a benefit if a dealer is listed as "special or whatever dealer" and only post one or two offers he which fullfill the rules but the mainitems he is selling via his site are independent from the rule...

    My 2cts

  7. Expect you won't have any luck at the other forums too... Ediee asked us to delete his account, all post and so on. It has nothing to do with the site here... it's an personal decission towards the repgame...

Maybe he'll return to the game but nobody knows actually - when we have some news (we're in contact with him) we'll post them in public to let you all know about - Ediee will also take care on open isues or orders so no need to worry...

  8. Great to hear Angel and Jay (Silix) that you like the idea and would join the party :thumbsupsmileyanim:

If i have understood Neil right, he's willing to share his sheet with everyone interested... the sheet he would sent out should be one where only the description must be filled in...

  9. Chronus had some great ideas. But I'm not that sure about including ETA at all in the copy-movement descriptions. Try Asian 7750, or Clone 7750 or Copy 7750.

That way, the Asian/Clone/Copy wording becomes quite hard to omit/forget/insert applicable word here.

And I understand the hassle of changing super lume to not so super lume on older watches. However, can't see the problem for newer additions? Well, in a way I do. The info on the pages most probably arrives with the pictures directly from factory, so the work that would be put into changing new arrivals is a lot more difficult to do than just copy pasting it. Especially if the factory doesn't really care, and everything is drop-shipped. That said, could the dealer section on this page be altered in a way so that new posts for dealers would be templates where they enter information. Where some/all fields are necessary? Or even better, remove some open answers and let them tick in either mineral, sapphire, or plastic/plexi; various forms of movements; lume: super luminova, regular lume, supadupaloom/lume that is super etc; Ar-coating: existant or non-existant/light ar; Material used for case; Material used for strap; Size of case w/o crown and Size of watch (inc. crown) etc. That way confusion could be minimized and it could bring forward some form of standardization.

This had been a hot topic when we started this site here - we finally decided not to implement it as we would give the dealers the opportunity to present their items in the way they like most...

But maybe this could be an part of the voluntary standards rule... as said this should be discussed with the dealers if they would/could work with or not and if the majority of the members prefer offers that way...

Waiting for some more input from the dealers :whistling: CNY :wounded1:

  10. Would it not be possbile to do it for the replicas that you advertise from now on?

Josh and Andrew have a "date added" at the bottom of their pages. They could easily change the template to read "please read the FAQ (linked) to understand the terms used for items posted before 14-February-2007" for example. And subsequent items can have standardised descriptions?

Valid points - this has also to be discussed if only items listed from now on have to fullfill the specs or if a certain period of time should be given to edit all items, or... any input is welcome especially from the dealers.

@TTK: Great to hear you would join - expect the same for Narikaa

@TWG: Happy new year and a nice holiday

  11. Great! And please go even further on recognizing and labeling dealers that adopt these standards... this could be like and ISO and quality recognizion... define terms, names, descriptions. Just go to some of the genuine descriptions on the brand sites and follow and improve the way they describe characteristics by adding specific terms regarding replica world definitions (Asian ETA, Swiss, Asian 7750 old, new...). Allow forum members to rate dealers transactions like we do on eBay. And help dealers by protecting them from "unexperienced" buyers also.

All the above paragraph is just a result from a brainstorming session I did with my self :) But the message is that as you mods have taken a position on this topic (thanks) don't let it die. Thanks for the initiative.

Thats the way i would like to see... but we'll see what can be worked out here

  12. Just hope the dealers will also post here even if the chinese new year is starting...

Personally i have talked a lot with one of our dealers here and he said he would also ship a watch he isn't 100% shure about (especially the movement) to one of the watchgurus here so they could confirm what it would be... as i talked only with the dealer about it we have to see if someone maybe Ziggy willing to do so if we come to an agreement with our dealers...

  13. We in admin thought a lot about this and have different ideas but we think it's the best if everyone here dealers and members work something out together instead that we present maybe something most doesn't feel good with. We in admin are open for all ideas and samples for an "voluntariy standardised policy contract...

The categories listed are also only examples which must worked out more detailed for example:

    movements:

    • Swiss ETA = movement produced by ETA-company (factory located anywhere in the world)
    • Asia ETA = copy movement of the Swiss ETA (look a likes - mainly produced in Asia)
    • ...
