  1. Bump. C'mon guys, someone surely can help? Any dealers who can supply the rep tube? Dr. No
  2. Yes, most definitely - I got a tube and crown set from Offrei and it was supposed to be for that model - 2209.50.00 (item no. OME-090ST1232). Definitely no fit, it was with my watchmaker and he showed me. Thanks.
  3. Hi guys, I'm still looking for the replacement tube and crown for my large 6th generation Planet Ocean rep. The original Omega tube does not fit the case because rep has push-in tube while gen Omega is threaded. Needless to say, it's now many months since I cannot enjoy my watch (it was delivered like that) and I certainly have nothing nice to say about support from the seller (wo-mart). This being my first rep watch I feel the whole experience rather unnecessarily painful. Please, please, please where can I get a replacement part? Hey, I'm prepared to pay gen price Cheers, Dr. No
  4. Hi people, Long story short, the watch was at my watchmaker for the past 6 weeks and he was unable to get the parts from Omega because numbers on the case don't match specs. Lot's of stuffing around, phone calls etc. Please, please, can someone tell me: (1) Is the original Omega (models 2208.50.00, 2200.50.00 or 2200.51.00) tube and crown interchangeable with 6th gen 45mm PO rep? (2) If not, where can I buy spare tube and crown for this replica? (3) I had a look myself for parts at Ofrei - will the following suit my PO rep? Omega Case Tube Model 2209.50.00 ($6.60) 090ST1232 http://www.ofrei.com/page1115.html Omega Crown 42184 Model 2209.50.00 ($36.00) 8100/3905W 42184 Fits MODEL 2209.50.00 CAL 2500 http://www.ofrei.com/page_147.html (4) Someone here suggested to contact 'Paul' for the parts. Paul are you here? Anyone has contact details? (5) What else can solve my problem? Not so happy Dr. No
  5. I have done some meticulous measurements to establish what accuracy one can expect from this unregulated rep. To my surprise, my new PO performed well, better than I have expected. This PO keeps time against reference source to +12 sec per day (with standard deviation of 2.1 sec which is pretty much my reading precision). See the following diagrams (note how tight are the readings, no much scatter from the line of best fit). This is much better than, for example, my Sandoz Submariner (Singapore model) which drifted +28.7 sec per day and with a much greated standard deviation. I hope to bring the PO accuracy a magnitude down to +1 sec, after regulation. I think this is achievable. I did get my Sandoz to +1.9 sec post-regulation, and they both have the same type of movement. What about power reserve? Another nice surprise - 10 min shy of 41 hours after it was fully wound. Can't complain about that. Another reason why $$$$ gen watch is a waste of money. Dr. No
  6. Wow... thanks r11co, that explains everything. I could not have understand how come the thread has ben stripped to polish I already sent an e-mail to Paul - he must be thinking I'm one realy silly customer Looks like it may not be as big issue as I thought. Will take the watch to my regular watchmaker when he opens after the break. Guys, I'll let you know how it went. Still, one would expect these things should not happen with a brand new stock. Dr No
  7. Ok, it looks like I located the part/s required at Ofrei - thanks for the tip. Thread tube for model 2209.50.00 part no. 090ST1232 at $6.60 http://www.ofrei.com/page1115.html Crown 42184 for model 2209.50.00 at $36.00 http://www.ofrei.com/page_147.html So that would be $42.60 + $14.40 postage = $57.00 and not even seeing a watchmaker yet. Could a member tell me what is involved to complete this repair? I assume the whole watch will have to be pulled apart. How much of a professional time are we looking at? Dr No One more IMPORTANT question: The above parts are for 42mm Planet Ocean (model 2209.50.00). Are crown and tube the same in 45mm rep (model 2208.50.00)?
  8. Upon a closer inspection of my new Planet Ocean 45mm (which I described in the new members forum), I found that the thread tube actually has a big problem - it looks completely stripped No wonder why it is so hard for the crown to catch the thread and screw down properly (it's like only half-turn left). Not happy. What would be your advice? Go back to Paul or try to fix it locally (I'm in Canberra, Australia)? Is the thread tube a replacable part on this replica? Where can I buy a spare, good quality one for this model? Are they all come in a standard size? Do I need to change the crown too? How much should this work cost? If I'm to do this locally, what else can be done to waterproof the watch? So many questions... Oh, please help the newbie - this is starting to look like a nightmare after only 2 days Thanks, Dr No
  9. To introduce myself. My name is Dr No and I'm happy to be your new member. My first acquisition is from the Omega range. I went with the 6th generation Planet Ocean Godzilla – the 45mm XXL model. It weights exactly at hefty 225g with full, unsized bracelet. You certainly get a lot of watch for the money. I have a thin wrist but, after initially worrying that I might have made a bad choice, I’m glad to report that watch sits comfortably after removing 3 links. So, don’t be scared, go for the best. This PO replica is a work of art. One has to admire craftsmanship required to make a clone of the original PO (note: I used the word clone rather than reproduction). It really is as close as possible to the real thing that it can't be much further perfected. The attention to detail and finish are simply superb. Everything was done to very high levels of tolerance. Buckle and divers extension function perfectly – they close nice and tight – not hard, yet not loose. The only minor problems I can see with this watch is a limited thread length for the screw-down crown i.e. it takes only a turn till the end, as opposed to e.g. seiko or citizen divers whose crowns have a few turns. Lume glows, but it doesn't last for very long. I wish they used the same stuff as in Seiko's monster divers - their lume glows for the whole night. For the price, non-reflective coating can be forgiven. This weekend my other half and I will be going to a shop to check out the same Omega and will let you know if we could pick any differences I'll also let you know, in a week or so, what time keeping accuracy you may expect from this model. I'm not sure what to do about regulation? Would be kinda' embarassing to give a 'fake' watch to a watchmaker. I would not be surprised if some even refuse to do any work on it. How do you go about this matter and servicing in general? Finally, I bought the watch from Paul and this man certainly delivered the top goods. The price was right too. I would recommend this watch from Paul to anyone. Yours sincerely, Dr No
  10. I have managed temptation for years - until last weekend when I bought PO from Wo-mart - I just had to have that one I'm into Seiko and Citizens mainly (originals) but there are few pieces in too expensive range I'd like to have. Does anyone have experience with Paul (Wo-mart) that they would like to share? The communication does not seems to be a very strong point. Did you get a tracking number? Were you told when watch was shipped? How long did you wait for it? I hope I did not waste a few $$$ Mr D.
